Kalan Murdoch, the sexiest cop in town, has a reoccurring lead role in curvaceous, flower shop owner, Elana Stanley's, nightly dreams and fantasies, but Elana has never had the courage to approach him.
But when tragedy strikes and Kalan's assigned to protect her at all costs, Kalan realizes that his days of sampling all the eligible women in town are over. There is only one woman that will tame this inner Beta's bear.
But tame is the last thing that Elana yearns for...
Not only do I love my hot paranormal fantasy romances starring yummy Alpha men, but I am now having so much fun writing my clean cozy mysteries set in Witch's Cove, Florida. The star of the show? Iggy, who is a 9-lb talking pink iguana.
I've been writing for twenty-one years and have a few other aliases. I hope you enjoy all my different series.
I love hearing from readers!! You can contact me at velladayauthor@gmail.com.
I received this for a honest review. Vella Day has done it again. This is the second book in the series but I think it will do find as a standalone. I loved Kalan and Elana in book one so it was good to see book two about them.
Kalan was the beta of the shifters in Silver Lake. He is a bear shifter he was also a deputy and part time detective in the criminal division of the sheriff’s department. One thing I loved about Kalan is he had a good heart. I loved how he acted in front of Elana. He became very clumsy. He just fell all over himself.
Elana was this beautiful curvy woman. You had to admire her. Here she was with unloving parents and had done so much with her life. She owned her own florist store. Though she did not have several stores all over the place, someone that looked at her should look at her with admiration. She had a crush on Kalan for so long and to see him give her just a little attention had to make her heart skip a beat.
There is a double murder in this town. Kalan needs to find out who is responsible. He must do all he can to keep Elana safe. He is gradually starting to learn that Elana is his mate. He must be very careful on approaching this subject so he does not scare her off. I have to say I love how she met his bear. You will have to read the book to find out more but you will get a good laugh.
This book will have some hot steamy parts, murder, pain, and healing. There is so many great characters in this book you can not help but fall in love with this story. I truly hope to see more of Jackson and Brian in a later series. Sorry you will have to read the book to find out who those characters are.
Title: Catching Her Bear Series: Weres & Witches of Silver Lake Destination: Book 2 Author: Vella Day Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #PRN #WolfShifters #BearShifters My Score: Book 5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆ Series 10 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢▪♢ Here I thought the first book was fantastic, the second book was phenomenal. I really love it wolves and bears together as a Pack then you got the changeling facts is they can turn into the last person they see when it is the Red Moon Elana Spencer was a human who owned a florist shop she loved to design flowers in an arrangement, she was very talented. Things are happening that were out of Elana's hands, her parents were murdered, their house was trashed and then a big brother appeared she didn't know she had a brother. Did he kill they're parents? Kalan Murdoch is a Deputy Sheriff, a WereBear Shifter and the Beta for they're Pack. Rye his Alpha of the Pack is a WereWolf Shifter. When Rye was in the hospital, Kalan smelled a scent that made his bear go crazy but he left only to realize A where the scent came from his Bear roarrrrrrrrrr Mate! Could it be for real? I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.
I had trouble feeling any sympathy for the heroine in this book. So she was abandoned while her wealthy parents traipsed around the world on business. Boo freaking hoo. I bet the poor people living on the street begging for food would really feel sorry for her having to live in a mansion with the hired help. My other problem with the plot was why they thought Elana was in danger? It's not like she had much to do with her parents and she wasn't threatened at the time. I also didn't like how she was so focused on her love life when her parents had just been murdered. Seems a bit self centered to me. I really enjoyed the first book but this one not so much. For me, if I dislike the heroine the story falls flat.

You can ignore the grammatical and editing errors. Whoever edits her books should be promptly fired for incompetence. If you enjoy paranormal and shifter romance it is a decent story. The Changlings are a bit of a pain to follow as they really show up in the prologue and epilogue.
I hoped that I would not have to repeat myself from my review of the first book in this series, A Magical Shift, but alas, I am not that fortunate. The editing and grammatical errors in Catching Her Bear are just as horrendous as ever! Day needs to fire her editor immediately. Catching Her Bear is Beta Kalan Murdoch's story of finding his mate who happens to be Ryerson McKinnon's mate, Isabella Berta's best friend, Elana Stanley, a human.
Kalan offers his protection and home to Elana after her parents are brutally killed in their home by those mysterious Changelings who supposedly create havoc all over Silver Lake yet remain hidden throughout the storyline yet again. Although shaken from her parent's untimely demise, Elana adjusts to all things shifter with ease especially since she has secretly or maybe not so secretly, crushed on Kalan. Elana knows she is not Kalan's type and he would never be interested in her, yadda, yadda, yadda and oh snap he is!
As if Elana hasn't been shocked enough by the death of her parents, she learns she has an older brother who was sent away to a mental institution for being bipolar as the parents were afraid Brian would hurt their new baby. You know, the one they were too busy to be bothered with or pay any attention. Yeah, that one, which makes no sense whatsoever that they would keep the baby girl and make sure her brother stays institutionalized. But I guess in the world of the Weres and Witches of Silver Lake, any ridiculous explanation is plausible.
Catching Her Bear is predictable and just as immaturely written as the first book although the story is better developed. The characters continue to be poorly written as well as the disconnected wolf/bear Clan and, the Changelings continue to avoid a solid appearance to wreak havoc on Silver Lake as constantly implied for anything bad that happens in the area.
Thankfully I have two more stories left to read in this Titanic trilogy disaster. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2.5 stars.

This was a very delightful read of a bear shifter romance. This book has some hot steamy parts with pain and healing included in the story line. The main characters in the story were wonderful and couldn't help but fall in love with them. This was a great read by Vella Day and this was the first time I had heard of her and if this is anything to go by I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future.
Elana owns a flower shop and has been attracted to bear shifter Kalan. She has lots of curves but doesn't think Kalan could be attracted to her too. Elana's parents own an import\export business and was never around. She's not real close to them. Kalan is a cop and when Elana's parents are murdered, he becomes her bodyguard. Someone breaks into her apartment and destroys it. He takes her to his home and finally realizes Elana is his mate. He wants to take it slow but Elana is not having it. While investigating the murders, secrets are revealed.
I would have given more stars but there were so many mistakes that it drove me crazy. I would have to reread some sentences for them to make sense. The story its self was pretty good. Shifters. Sex. Suspense.
This was a really sweet read, concentrating on Kalen and Elana, as beta to the clan, Kalen takes his job seriously as both a law enforcer and clan beta, but having a mate was never part of his plan, that is until he meets Elana. Having already seen her once and run away, he can’t seem to keep away from her now. When a case brings him right to Elana door will his need and protective nature be enough to keep her safe? Will Elana understand when he reveals his inner beast? Great read, story, plot and characters. I love series that are linked together. Some hot sex scenes, romantic moments and great friendships but lots of angst too. Would recommend.
Catching Her Bear by Vella Day is a paranormal romantic suspense. Ms. Day has given readers a well-written book with a fabulous cast of characters. Kalan is a cop, he's also a bear shifter. Elana owns a flower shop and has had a crush on Kalan for a while. Their story is loaded with drama, humor, steamy sex, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading Catching Her Bear and look forward to reading more from Vella Day in the future. Catching Her Bear is book 2 of the Weres and Witches of Silver Lake Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Elana Stanley is a human with a flower shop. She is friends with Isadora Berta from book 1 of the series and knows about witches and werewolves. Kalan Murdoch is Ryerson McKinnon's beta, but he isn't a werewolf. He is a werebear and a police officer. Elana is meant to be his mate. Elana's parents are murdered and Kalan brings Elana home to protect her. Elana's reaction to finding out he is a bear shifter and her mate was a bit different than I expected or than Kalan expected. Sex is again part of this - the mate bond.
I purchased the paperback a few years ago. I would give the story an overall a 4 but there were so many typos, missing words and incomplete sentences, it ruined the story for me. Elana has been infatuated with Kalen for many years. Kalen feels a little off when he's around Elana. His bear says mate. He didn't want to admit to himself what Elana was to him. It took him having to protect her from her parent's killers to realize what she was to him. In the end, they get their happily ever after.
Wonderful read! Serious danger awaits Elana. Her parents are killed and her brother; she didn't know about; is a possible suspect. It's hard to find love when someone wants you dead. Can Kalan and Elan find love and passion? This is the second book I have read from this author. I really love her writing and stories.
First time reading this author's work and I was pleasantly surprised that I have not ever heard of her. Love the intricate way she has the herione ready and willing when the time was right. Just enough mystery to keep me guessing and touching on a subject that I hold dear to my heart, mental illness. I will definitely keep an eye out for more of her books.
I was disappointed with this book, I like the series as a whole but this one was a bit on the boring side. There was barely any action in this one and just so much drama. Usually there’s more balance between the action, drama, romance and the sexy scenes. I was also annoyed that there was a couple of editing issues.
Nice read good storyline and good characters to catch your fancy every step of the way. She is Alpha's mates best friend, so she was off limits. He was the hunk of a man of her dreams and figured she didn't have a chance. Follow their story to find out if they get their HEA.
Kalan believes that he isn't ready to have a mate. Elana is desperate to get over her crush on an untainable man. Fate has other plans. Will Elana accept who he is? Will Kalan be able to keep her safe?
I loved watching Kalan fall. He went from doing everything possible to avoid accepting his mate, to doing anything possible to keep her safe. I loved watching Elana become stronger and come into accepting herself. Good read!

Alana has been crushing on Kalan for a while now. Kalan cant keep his bear quite around Alana and that's a problem since she doesn't know about werebear. Alanas parents are murdered and now Alana needs protection. Kalan is a police officer and now he has to solve the case and keep her safe. I highly recommend this book
I'm ready for these changelings to get gone already. They are leaving themselves open to too many attacks and not finding out what the changelings are doing. I'm glad Elana got her man.
After twists and turns Elana needs protection and the man to do it is Kalan. Little do they know they are fated mates. The trials they go through to finally accept their fate is an enjoyable read. I bighly recomnend this book and the series.
Enjoyed the storyline. Wonderful series with intriguing characters. Each book can be read as a standalone but there is a background story. Which I can't wait to get answers to.
Would give this story a five star rating, but there were too many editing glitches. Ms. Day needs a much better editor. On the other hand, if you love books that have sassy, curvy women and chunky men that an extra plus, this story is for you!
A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
It was a good read. I loved the characters interactions with each other and their chemistry. I just didn't care for the spells; at times, it was hard to tell if it was their actions or the spells making act a certain way.
