Amira Rain is a popular author of a shifter and paranormal romance.
When she is not writing she enjoys dancing and going to the theatre. One of her big passions in life is chocolate and she has an irrational fear of spiders. So much so, that even a photo of a spider will scare her.
DNF the little girl was just too annoying and distracting. I gave up. Whatever her purpose in the story might be it made the cliché "I hate the hunk for no logical reason" story even worse. Today I'm not in the mood to read about a childish woman.
has pretty much an exact copy of a character named jen who frankly lacks upstairs capacity has an old lab/golden retriever boy dog although the names are different in the books also has a sister but in the vampires baby series her sister is her fraternal twin. is a frustrating annoying character to read about really nonsense babbling. itd be fine if it was like some characters that have some social awkwardness but like jen same name in both books she also is pretty much illiterate in both books. and she doesnt seem to have much sense of personal space boundaries social awareness. if shes used in the same way she is in the vampire baby book ill be severly disappointed and annoyed it was bad enough in vampire baby the fact that shes practically tainting another even better in this case book irritates me beyond belief especially when i really like this character so far much more than vampire babys female lead and maybe even the male lead cause honestly vampire baby series as a whole is a bit of a joke tbh
okay second major complaint issue whatever is that another scene is an exact replica from spawned by the bear. im not sure which book was first but either way theres another duplicate recycled story for you.
next issue is the more amira rain books i read the more i realise how misleading or even false the blurbs can be. i mean island of shifters is one and so is this blurb i mean you think your entering a story where the main character is on the run in hiding from the goverment but shes not at all and whatever other evil forces have ywt to show themselves and im over halfway through this godforsaken book. and theres norhing special aboit her gift either the book makes it seem like shes the quote unquote chosen one or at the very least has a very unique or important gift that makes her valuable but literally we learn her gift is super common like ? wtf. the island of shifters well it basically says two alpha males are her mates and want her and spoiler alert for that book however its basically dnf so dont waste your time tbh anyway she arrives has a deal with the actual alpha to have a menage with the very non alpha shifter whose been guarding her cause hes hot their not mates fated mates never even came up its just a term that seems to be loosely used for people who have sex and are trying for a baby. non of the soulmate thing at all which imo is the best part of shifter romance anyway shes with the alpha and says shell only stay on the island if she can screw him at least once and he says he has to be there too and then they do and for some reason it just continues and 3rd wheel really cares for her but shes basically using him for sex and seemingly a buffer for her relationship with the alpha she actually loves and basically ends up with him and crushes the heart of 3rd wheel so badly he leaves their town in tears not even knowing if shes with his child but knowing he could never be happy with someone who doesnt love him and he couldnt be a good father like that even though hed really loved the child he couldnt just be 3rd wheel forever so basically he makes the hard deciaion for her instead of being strung along forever. anyway besides being in hate with most of her heroines i like the concepts of the stories the ideas the execution is just shit and the more i read the more basic copy and paste same tired conflict angst for the sake of it immature dumb misunderstandings and bratty selfish heroines there are lets not even get me started on the disrespectdul controlling nature if not criminal in some circumstances the men are.
im going to attempt to finish the book and hope theres some redeeming features cause im certainly not getting any soulmates or romance happening. mostly just childish sumb behaviour which i can tolerate when the characters are 18 ish but 27 and what mid 30's or older no thankyou ridiculous. excuse the fuck outta me but while i moght read a lot of trashy fluffly or smutty books that i might not hold to the same standards as extremely well written writers that are pretty much instant 4 stars i do however expect the books to at the very least not make me roll my eyes be put in an annoyed mood in fact is it so much to ask for a hallmark style fun light fluffy read hea yiu know it doesnt have to be super talented writing or complicated story just concentrate on real characters likeable characters not drama not teen angst and then consider what naturally might happen plot wise without turninf it into the davinci code its not and it doesnt need to be in depth or super crazy. if youre writing a romance book concentrate on the romance not the bs teen angst it doesnt build tension its just dumb. i read romance books for shock horror dun dun dun romance what a surprise. so when i get this hot mess mish mash bs i get annoyed well beyond annoyed in this case given i feel like im reading the same sub par irritating bs i read literally a day ago.
the ending scenes were very sweet so the book wasnt a total waste thankfully.
this is the first book by this Author that I've read(listened to). The narrator is extremely bad. I think the feeling that I get that I'm listening to a young 15yr. olds diary has a lot to do with the Narrator. Although there is Some steam to the main characters coupling with her love interest, Even that felt wrong with the childish narration. That being said, the main Character has very little in redeeming qualities which hurts even more. I am going to finish it despite the pain it causes my soul. The biggest travesty is that the premise of the story was original and had potential. I plan to read(listen to) one more book (definitely a different series) by this Author because I have heard good things about their work. fingers crossed.
Despite some of the reviews on this book, I enjoyed it. The chemistry between Avery and Jim is great and Jen adds a sweet and funny twist to the story.
I am really not sure if I liked this book or not. I listened to the audio version of it and the narrator was very hard to listen to. She paused every few words and it was very distracting and hard to listen to. I will have to try the printed version of the next in the series to see if I actually like it or not. I would not recommend the audio version of this book.
I absolutely loved this book!!!! I loved the warmth, joy, friendship. I loved Jen's character. I love the sweet heat. I love the adventure and fighting action. Excellent story. I want more!!!
Avery Clark is a whiny, irritating, cowardly bitch. Through a supernatural event, she has been gifted with the ability to levitate things. She hides the ability because she has no intention of joining the fight to protect the country from the evil group that caused the supernatural event. When she inadvertently saves a little boy from getting hit by a car, the government comes for her. She can take up her post or go to prison. She is unemployed, has no friends in the town where she has lived for about a year, has no close family, has no friends back in Chicago where she came from where she can't return anyway because it has been taken over by the enemy. But she'd rather stay in town and take a job she's not excited about. The threat of prison, however, sees her moving to Timberline, the post where those effected by the supernatural live to fight against the incursion of the enemy into Michigan. The effected include other Gifted (all women) and Shifters (all men). Jim Duncan is a bear Shifter and leader in Timberline. For some reason he is attracted to Avery, probably because she is pretty. She's attracted to him because he is so handsome. She still refuses to participate in the defense of the country, even training. She finally decides she can watch the training, then works up to actually using her gift in a training exercise and everyone cheers like she's special. I hated this character. Really. The only redeeming quality she has is that she's nice to the village idiot. I can only believe Jim wants to have sex with her because she's pretty. She is whiny. She is a coward. Because something happened to her when she was 8 years old. Twenty years ago. I can usually scan through a book when I find it boring or irritating due to grammatical errors, but I just couldn't do that with this. I couldn't get beyond how much I hated this character. I know I've read other books by this author, but I don't remember any other person like Avery. I read this as part of the anthology Totally Bears: A 10 Book Paranormal Box Set. This was the first of the 10, and I can only hope the others are better.
Kindle unlimited standalone read. When an evil man played mind control games on tv, some became shifters, some received powers, and some became pure evil. When she is forced to use her leveraging skills, she's taken away and put into a town of bear shifters so she can help fight the evil forces who keep attaching. The alpha is the hottest man she has ever seen. Why doesn't he have a mate? Why can she not stop thinking about him? Loved the characters in his book!
As far as the hero was described and behaved i am ok with him. But 20 something woman behaving like stubborn child? She does not want to do ok with me , but her solving the problem is to run from room or throw the person from room. Extremely annoying and dumb book.
I enjoyed this book. It had a really good story just not enough of it. Too much attention was paid to details and not enough left to the imagination. Other than that it was very good
This a new way of starting the shifter store. This book was really good and fun to read. You get a book that's different from most . Would tell anyone to read it. Thank you loved the book
About a gifted female San by government agents to a community where she's to fight against Angels. Terrified to fight and meets a bear shifter who she falls in love with and makes Friend's with a younger girl who is immature but a sweetheart
probably one of the worst narrators i've tried to listen to for audio. i managed to make it about an hour and a half in and then couldn't differentiate between the child and the supposed heroine and had to turn it off.
Storyline was good. But it felt like Avery was telling me the story rather than me living it. Avery also seemed shallow almost treating the fights like they were just a game. She never seemed worried or nervous about anyone getting hurt except herself.
Horrible.....simply horrible.....maybe it's because I am listening to the audiobook and the narrator is the absolute worst I've ever heard but it is painful to get through this book.
Dear Lord, the supporting character Jen was so irrelevant and irritating just the thought of having to listen to another syllable of her dialogue was like listening to nails on a chalkboard!
Also, any book where I want to constantly slap the heroine is just not one I want to waste time on.
cute book. she found out she had powers when she saved the life of a boy. but she wasn't going to the war was not fighting in the war. refuses. then she meets jim who is the leader of the in the bear shifter group and she knows she wants him. but she still refuses to fight in a war. she meets jen who is another gifted and she becomes her best friend even is jen isn't all there sometimes and doesn't know how to read r write, but she so sweet and just wants someone to be her friend. the book is cute i did go onto the next ones from this one so enjoyed it.. was a little long find myself skipping thru the book to get to more excitement and out of the back story to much of that is boring.
