I’ve been blogging and creating videos about building strength, increasing vitality and about how to become the strongest version of yourself since 2006.
The goal of this site it simple, it is to share powerful ideas that help us all to become stronger in every way possible.
Building strength goes far beyond lifting heavy weights and growing muscle, although I am a Profession Strongman and love that stuff too. Its about having more vitality, rugged health, a strong sex drive, better relationships, more abundance, and of course an awesome attractive body!
This is a Holistic Approach to health, strength and happiness… you either get it, or you don’t.
But I an NOT here to please everyone. In fact, I have a habit of saying things that piss most people off… but it is all done in the spirit of a stern, but loving coach.
Here is my promise to you, if you want to reach your full human potential and become the type of person that looks great, feels amazing and is respected and admired by your friends, family and strangers… then you are in the right place.
So, why should you listen to me?
Because I don’t just talk the talk, I walk the walk every single day. As the father of four children, husband to my high school girlfriend, gym owner, strength coach, pro strongman, author, producer and business owner my track record for helping people become the strongest version of themselves is top notch.
It is more important for me to support you and build our community, than to have a ton of pictures of myself flexing in the mirror or acting like a meat-head tough guy full of ego and vanity.
We are on a mission!
YOU, me and everyone in our community will work tirelessly to spread the message of REAL strength and becoming stronger people to create a stronger world!
Elliott has long been a mentor from a distance for me. For those who have not followed him over the years, you may find him insane after reading this book depending on your background. He has an incredibly deep thought-process--incorporating science, spirituality and mythology in his writings and teachings. I appreciate his use of symbolism to support his followers' journey in becoming the strongest version of themselves.
As a graduate of exercise science (B.S.) and a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), I learned plenty of new concepts and ideas relative to training the physical body as presented by Chris Barnard. Additionally, as a former athlete who struggled with remaining injury-free, I wish I would have been introduced to his focus on the importance of recovery and proper preparation before athletic performance long ago. I enjoyed how he presented his own experiences and personal stories with such passion. I also appreciated how he made connections between the concepts he discussed and how exceptional athletes such as Kobe Bryant used them.
I gave this book 4 stars because there were many sections that were incredibly powerful--such as the last few chapters presented by Elliott and the passionate stories presented by Chris--but some sections that felt like a chore to read through and could have been condensed.
Overall, King is an excellent book, and serves as a map, not a guideline, to becoming the strongest version of yourself. In a society with such confusion and distraction from life's purpose, I can only hope that this book reaches many and serves to improve life one Self at a time.
I've been following Elliott for some time on YouTube. I absolutely dig his vibe and message. A lot of what Elliott talks about can come off as hokey, frou-frou, or metaphysical -I have no problem with that- mainly because I've kept an open mind and at least tried the concepts that he has suggested.
I fully support him releasing this book and I found value in it, however only the half that was written by Elliott. I wouldn't want him to take it personal, but Chris's half of the book did not grab me. I read through the whole thing and was left with absolutely no clue about what I was supposed to do with the information. It came off like a rote explanation of their training methods and philosophy. I would have appreciated the information being made more actionable.
In comparison because Elliott is a more experienced speaker I felt that his section was more absorbable.
One other issue I took, that prevented a 4-star was attention to detail. There were some jarring errors in the printing, such as Section II and III had the symbols of the heart (physiological strength) and book (energetic strength). This caused some confusion as I was memorizing this stuff. I thought, "How could he have missed that?" There were also other areas where sentences were repeated, etc. This is the only book I've read with errors like this and I've come to expect a professional polish.
There are some things that Elliott says that I find useful and others that don't sound quite right. The point is that he helps me to think for myself. That is valuable.
Other than that I feel the book is of great value to those with an open mind. My suggestion is to skip section I.
You teach a young man his worth by showing him his strength.
Over 500 pages of wisdom bring to ideas Body & Mind closer to each other than in any other book. For long western science has treated the body and mind separately. But in this book Chris Barnard and Elliott Hulse explain why building foundation in strength is important. Why your body is your brain? what spirituality and bioenergy really is? and what kind of problems in this area can occur?
Sometimes the answer you are really looking for can be found in your unconscious brain. This book offers very different and unique way of looking at how to become strongest version of yourself.
Lots and lots and lots of tipps to become the strongest version of yourself key take aways: - give my body enough time and rest to recover after training - sleep in total dark - visualize with strong emotions - have a vision board - have a shrine in my house for the warrior, lover, magician and king + anima - follow the omens (from Paulo Coelho) - follow my personal legend (from Paulo Coelho) - my personal legend is inevitable
Elliot and Chris give a lot of insight into their own experience and readings and explain to the reader how to adapt and evolve and learn from all experiences. This is not a guidebook but a map as Elliot says and the reader must find his or her own way. I would recommend this book to someone who may be facing some personal problems or just want to become a stronger more knowledgable person.
