Peter Knowles has spent the first fifteen years of his life growing up in a small town, raised by his mother and grandparents. The only thing Peter knows about his father is that he left before he was born and never looked back. Peter never let his father's absence bother him, he excels in all areas of his life. His mother is his hero and Peter is determined to make her proud. Like any other kid in his situation he dreams of one day meeting his father. When that day finally arrives, his dream quickly turns into a nightmare. A volcano of secrets suddenly erupts as Peter learns the disturbing details of his fathers life, and the circumstances of his parents relationship. Everything comes full circle when a young girl is kidnapped. At the request of the FBI, Peter navigates through twists and turns in a race against time to save her life, and in the process learns that he and his father are very much alike in more ways than one.
