Make Way for You: Tips for getting out of your Own Way

You are all the self-help that you need!

That’s right, you’re powerful beyond belief and simply need to realize it. I won’t say that this book will instantly unlock all of your mental shackles … that’s way too much responsibility for me. But it will surely help you find the keys. You have to be the one to decide to use them or not.

Free-Writing is the cathartic release that comes with writing in a flow state. When you’re in the zone, jotting down everything and anything that comes to mind. You'll be surprised how insightful this practice could be.

This is the first volume in a collection of freely written thoughts that helped me get through some of my own personal barriers and bull$hit.
My hope is that they can help you in a similar way.

Let’s get to a place where we can substitute the mysticism with hard work, and start taking steps in the general direction of our dreams.

Here’s to all of those dormant creators out there …

When I first read the title of this book, I thought it was self-help to learn assertiveness, but it turned out to be self-help for writers. Either one works for me, so that was good. It's written as short meditations, so it's meant to be one of those books you pick up for short bursts of inspiration, not a cover-to-cover read. I read it cover to cover for this review, but I'll keep it in my desk for future reference. My one criticism is that it was in stream of consciousness style, which I often find difficult. But good luck to author, Tony Ortiz, a fellow journeyman in the world of writing and publishing!

Let me start with one of my favourite quotes:

"I have greatness within me and so do you."

There were many parts of this book that spoke to me, but I felt this quote was the most profound in my view. The statement is quite a powerful one indeed. The concept that we ALL have this inside of us is astounding. We just need to unlock it and get out of our own way.

This book has a very practical approach to dealing with our biggest setbacks; ourselves! We get demotivated, make up excuses, listen to negative people, and put off and put off and put off. For what reason? What is holding us back? - exactly what this book explores. It doesn't tell us what that something is per se, but it helps us realise where we might be going wrong, and what we can do to identify it & hopefully curb it before it's too late.

My favourite chapters would have to be "Nobody is necessarily necessary" and "Make way for you" among others, of course.

Now, with books like these, I want to finish it feeling motivated and enlightened and I can safely say that I was pleasantly surprised that I was. This book is different from the traditional type of self motivational books, it isn't overly cheery or "pleasant" at every turn. No, in my opinion, it was far more practical and I appriciated it.

Tony reached out to me to see if I was interested in reviewing his book and I was more than happy to take him up on his offer.

Make Way for You: Tips for getting out of your Own Way is an intelligent approach to advising readers and people alike on their lives and passions. From the battles we face in our everyday lives, the struggles we deal with when facing our crafts, and to seeking out who we yearn to positively be; Oritz draws on personal experiences and gives abundance of inspiration through short and insightful passages.
Be present. Be inspired. Be you.
A short book full of smart inspiration; Make Way for You: Tips for getting out of your Own Way was a pleasure to read. I wish Oritz nothing but success in his endeavour in the self-publishing world and spreading his insight and motivation to as many people as possible. After all; the world could sure do with as much inspiration as it can get.

This book is full of great advice to motivate you at the times you need it. It is a stringing together of small chapters, meaning you're able to read it in those fleeting moments of calm in your busy day.

Definitely, a book worth having in your self-development arsenal.
