****** This inspirational Christian romance is a story of two hearts who met in an unexpected way. A love story that not only shows how God works things together for good in our life, but the spiritual growth of one young man.
Kyle Reynolds was just a pizza slinging delivery driver with a dream when he met Emily Hayden. She gave him a glimpse at love and stole his heart away without any hesitation. However, Emily had a secret. Not just any secret, but one that could and would change everything.
A Chance at Love is a Christian romance that captures the sweet side of young love and packs a punch of spiritual deepness that will leave you breathless. A refreshing story that will inspire your faith and warm your soul.

I enjoyed this story of finding both faith and true love, but felt that the characters were a little under-developed. I liked how the grandmother had an influence on her grandson and I enjoyed the perspective of a young man reaching out to love.
A Chance At Love by TK Chapin is a contemporary Christian romance. Kyle is just nineteen years old when he spots eighteen year old Emily whilst delivering pizza to a church group. Kyle feels a connection. The novel explores this young love with all its highs and lows The theme of finding the love of God is also explored within the novel. Kyle has felt dissatisfied with his life. Something is missing. "There's got to be more to life than this." He is looking for something or someone to fulfil him but says "I don't like to believe in things I can't see." Kyle is like a lot of people. However, people believe in things they can't see all the time, such as the wind. We cannot see it, but we can see its effects in the trees blowing and we can feel it. God is like the wind. We cannot see Him but we can see how He effects people and we can feel His power. Kyle has not been taken to church by his parents but he does have a grandmother who is "crazy for Jesus." Following an accident Kyle has to go and help her out. She talks to Him about God and about the heart of God. The novel deals with the theme of prejudice. Prejudice can strike anywhere. It can even be found in the hearts of church going people. TK Chapin demonstrates that church is filled with the same flawed people as those who are outside its walls. Going to church does not make you a good Christian, it is knowing God and having a relationship with Him that transforms people. Within the story there is the theme of prayer. When our life seems out of our control, the best thing to do is to pray and then wait. God will always answer prayers but in His time not ours. "There's no such thing as being too late when it comes to God." A Chance At Love is written in the first person from the point of view of Kyle. The reader gets to know him intimately. We know his thoughts, his feelings and his fears. We watch him grow and develop throughout the novel. We see the world through his eyes. I always enjoy TK Chapin's stories. They have excellent plots that honour God. Throughout there are Godly truths and scriptures showing how to live a life that pleases God. They are never 'preachy', just full of good advice. His stories show 'real' people doing life. I can highly recommend all his novels. Download a copy of A Chance At Love Today.
I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. No monetary compensation was received and all views expressed are my own.
If we could do half stars on GoodReads, I would give this book 2 1/2 stars.
I was provided an Advance Readers Copy by the author. All thoughts and opinions about the book are my own.
Kyle is a young man without purpose, working as a pizza delivery driver, until he meets a young woman who changes his life. Throughout his process of change, conversion, and romance, Kyle is guided by the wisdom and patience of his grandmother and a co-worker at the pizza shop.
This book is billed as a romance, but the most interesting relationship in the book is between Kyle and his grandmother. Indeed, the grandmother is a far more interesting, nuanced, and complex character, than the rather flat, angelic portrayal of Kyle's love interest, Emily.
The second most interesting aspect of the book is Kyle's conversion and the challenges he faces as he grows his faith and testimony. This would be great for new Christians to read to help understand they aren't alone as they face challenges as new believers. It would also be helpful for experienced Christians to read to remember how to be supportive and uplifting to new believers.
There was so much potential in the developing relationship between Kyle and Emily. There was plenty of conflict, but for me, the romance fell flat because Emily was such a one-dimensional character. I never felt like I came to know her. In Kyle's interactions (perhaps because he was so busy idealizing her), we never really do get to know Emily other than a few details, which seem to only create a vague outline of girl.
I gave this book 2 1/2 stars because I felt like the author was constantly telling me the story, telling me how I should interpret the story, and telling me how I should I feel about the story. I think the problem could be remedied by changing the point of view. The story is told in the first person and so it has an extremely narrow scope in unfolding the story. If the story had been told from the third person, I think the perspective would have been broadened and more room would have been given for the reader to think about the message of the story, to interpret without overwhelming direction. The story had so much potential if the author would trust the reader more and SHOW instead of tell.
Nineteen-years old Kyle Reynolds wondered if he was destined to deliver pizzas for the rest of his life, but until he found his purpose in life…it put money in his pocket. When Kyle delivered pizza to a church, little did he realize his life was about to change in a big way.
His grandmother was ill and needed help, so Kyle was volunteered to help her for a week. However; his grandmother was the one who helped him by giving his life to the Lord.
When delivering pizza to a church Kyle saw beautiful Emily Hayden. He felt she was an angel and his heart was stolen…but how was he going to get to know Emily especially since her parents were so protective and she had a secret she wouldn’t tell him because she was afraid if Kyle found out, he would have nothing to do with her.
This is one of the most beautiful love-stories I have read in a long time. Not only is it about a young couple and their love for each other, but also about the most everlasting love that God has for each of us.
This book goes beyond the surface of love and shows the real basis for a lasting love. Mr. Chapin takes the age old question of why does God let bad things happen to good people and answers the question in a way that is easy to understand. Simply God doesn’t let bad things happen….He gave us free-will and our choices sometimes cause things to happen that shouldn’t. Once again Mr. Chapin has written a book that has deeply touched my heart and dug down deep into my soul. It has made me once again want to have a closer relationship with Jesus.
This book is sure to speak to your romantic side while it strengthens you faith. The twists and turns in this beautifully written novel will keep you turning the pages and at the end leave you wanting the story to continue.
Thank you Mr. Chapin for another inspirational novel!
Disclosure: I was given a copy of this eBook by the author, T.K. Chapin, for an honest review. I was not required to write a favorable review nor was I compensated for my review. The opinions in this review are my own.
Aw!! Young love I loved this Christian romance from a male perspective. Kyle embarks on a journey of young love with a beautiful girl,Emily and his relationship with God. This is a must read for young adults, as they start their journey to adulthood. I loved the characters and especially Kyle, who embraced his new walk with the Lord. A copy of this book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
I truly love this book I could not put it down it was cheerful it was sweet it was just so beautiful even brought me to tears it was so hard to put down. Kyle and Emily just took my breath away. I am just new to the Bible and it really touched me in more ways than one.
This was a sweet(yes I'm using that word here, even though the main character was a male) story of finding true love in an unlikely moment and of a young man coming to learn about God. If you are looking for a fairly fast romance that is clean with no sex or swearing and don't mind reading Christian fiction I think you might really enjoy A Chance at Love.
This was my first novel by T.K. Chapin but I am looking forward to reading more of his books. If you haven't had the chance to check him out he's got several to choose from. I have several I'm adding to my TBR list.
The timeframe of the story is from right before Christmas and the main part ending around Valentine's Day. It's all told from the perspective of Kyle, a young man who his whole life grew up making fun of Christians. He and his sister were raised by parents who believed they should be able to make their own choice when it came to believing in God. Their parents were very devout when they were younger yet slowly stepped away because they felt they had been forced to believe and show devotion. Throughout the book the parents slowly start to realize that maybe they should have taken a different path in teaching their children and possibly in their own choices of stepping completely away.
Kyle is a high school graduate, very smart and unsure of what to do with his future. He is a pizza delivery man and feels almost trapped in moving forward and staying where he is. He doesn't want to disappoint and he doesn't want to be unhappy in his choices. One night he is sent to deliver pizza to a church and sees a beautiful young woman on stage at the church. He delivers the pizzas and leaves, yet for some reason he can't figure out why he feels drawn to her but doesn't think their paths will ever cross again. The next morning Kyle's parents ask him to go stay with his grandma(who lives fairly close by) and help her for a week because she was hurt and needs a little help during her recovery time. Kyle reluctantly agrees and ends up really enjoying himself visiting with his Grandma. She is a very devout Christian and through conversations they have she helps guide him in his journey of life. I enjoyed their conversations and definitely reflected back on my life, knowing that the Lord's hands were always there guiding me, even though the outcome wasn't always what I had wanted or thought would happen. But knowing that the path I have been led down was far greater than any path I could have chosen by myself. I'm so grateful for a loving Father in Heaven who wants what is best for me and will help me achieve that as I turn my life over to him.
The story follows Kyle in his journey of turning his life over to the Lord and of him changing his perspective towards Christians. He also helps his family start to realize that it would have been okay to speak about God even though the parents didn't have the best experiences with some people from their church. They turned away because of mistakes of men. Men are not perfect but Christ and his gospel are. We need to remember that we want to be forgiven and Christ is willing and wanting to do so but we have to allow that for others, especially in our interactions with them. Sorry little tangent there, just some thoughts that I was having while reading about Kyle's parents.
Coming back to the girl Kyle saw at the Church. He does end up seeing her several more times throughout the book. He has lots of opposition as he tries to befriend Emily. She and his grandmother are both very influential in helping him think about and decide if he believes in God. I don't want to say too much about their relationship because there are a couple little surprises that if I start talking about it I'll spoil it and I don't like giving spoilers. Suffice it to say it is a sweet story about love and looking past shortcomings of all kinds.
I was given a free copy of the book from the author for an honest review. If you are at all interested, the book is on sale for $0.99 at amazon right now. It just came out on February 9th so I'm not sure how long the sale will last. I hope this review helped, let me know what you think of the book if you decide to read it.
In A CHANCE AT LOVE, Kyle is a pizza delivery guy who makes a delivery one day that changes his life. He delivers pizza to a church where he sees a glimpse of a beautiful girl that he can't take his eyes off of. He finds out her name is Emily and they begin to get to know each other. He does find it strange that they only talk on the phone and never really go anywhere together. Emily really likes Kyke but she has a secret that will change the dynamics of their relationship. After his persistence she finally tells him what the secret is? Can Kyle handle what Emily has told him?
I found the story to be very powerful as the author eloquently takes Kyle on a journey to a growth in his spiritual walk. It was very refreshing to read about a young person who was eager to learn more about God and seek out advice and guidance from people who could help him. I have had a struggle all day trying to find the right words to say about this book. The reason is that is was such an emotional story filled with young people who are finding their way in a world where life can give you detours. It is a hard decision for some to make , but the author did such an amazing job that I hope this book is required reading for those who need to be encouraged, given hope and the true meaning of unconditional love.
Kyle and Emily's story was an great example of young people who fall in love and want to follow their faith as they trust God for answers. The story was not rushed and the author used real life issues to help connect with readers. I finished the book and sat quietly for awhile. I had just read one of the most moving stories of accepting one another in spite of obstacles . . Are we accepting of others if they are handicapped or different? Thank you for writing a story that gave us insight into how a young man made the choice to accept Jesus and ignored those that made fun of him. Through this book you will find hope, acceptance, forgiveness and a true account of experiencing the undeniable love that never fails.
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review
This is Kyle's story in his words. He's 19, and grew up in a family that were not church going folks. This is his story of coming to know Christ as his lord and savior, and his love story with Emily.
He meets her, and meeting her helps bring him to Jesus. Her, and his sweet Grandmother! She is such a sweet woman, and she helps Kyle in a tremendous way come to know the Lord! Emily has a secret, though. Something Kyle won't find out about at first. I won't reveal the secret, you'll have to read the book to find out! But, he handles it with so much love and grace, I was so touched! I also found it so awesome and quite refreshing the author would write a story like this, with such insight! Her secret is something I can identify with on a personal level, and I found it so touching and wonderful Kyle would handle it so well, even when some of those around him did not!
I loved this story so much! I would love it if he wrote more on this couple! I'd love to know more about what happens to them! And some other characters in the story, too.
I've never read any of T.K. Chapin's books, but I am anxious to read more of this author's stuff! For those that love Christian romance fiction as I do, I totally recommend this book! I would recommend it to anyone that loves these types of books, but especially to young adults, around Kyle's age. This story sends such a good message! One we all can take much from, but I think that age bracket could get so much out of it, as it revolves around young people, and I think this is needed, maybe even more than ever in this day and age!! I loved this book so much I sat down and read it in a few hours! !

An interesting story about a young man who has graduated high school and has been granted a year by his parents to remain at home while he decides what he wants to do with his life. Does he want to go to college or does he want to go to work? He has a pizza delivery job that provides spending money. But six months or so after graduation, he is no closer to reaching a decision. It is unfortunate that he grew up in a home where his parents did not take him and his sister to church to learn about God. Is there any hope of him learning the truth about God? If so, will he accept or reject that truth? What is he going to do with his life? He already knows he doesn’t want to spend it delivering pizza and barely getting by. By the way, he really enjoys gaming but what good is that when the refrigerator is empty and the car needs gas? Oh, yeah, the title suggests this may be a love story. You will want to read this book to see how things work out for this young man and how his decisions affect those around him. I recommend it, especially to parents who think they are doing their children a favor by keeping them from church and allowing them to make the choice when they grow up. Remember that there are many others in this world who care what they believe even if you don’t. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Enjoyable story about a young man who is debating what direction to head in his life. He recently graduated high school and has taken a year off to decide what to do. Six months in, he is still working as a pizza delivery boy and no closer to deciding. He then goes to stay with his grandma for a couple of weeks to help her out and it is there that he finds God. From here the book follows Kyle learning about God, finding a love for God and a girl, and his interactions with his family and friends. I enjoyed the perspective given from a new believer searching and questioning. The romance part of the story was enjoyable, they got to really know each other through phone calls before actually spending any time together. Roadblocks come across them path trying to keep them apart but through determination and trust in God help them overcome. I liked the way the author approached answering the questions that majority ask about God and life, for example, why does God let bad things happen.
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
A Chance at Love is a young adult story and is written in first person. I liked the plot of this book, however, I never really identified with the characters or felt connected to what was going on in their lives. I found the story to be easy to read and I think quite a few people will really like following what happens in the developing relationship of Kyle and Emily, as well as the relationships that Kyle has with various family members and friends. It just fell a bit flat for me, personally. I would have liked to have delved deeper into these characters and I felt that I was really only seeing the surface of them. Some arguments and interactions between characters seemed forced to me and were hard to follow.
Not really my cup of tea, but A Chance at Love could be interesting to the Christian young adult audience.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This Inspiritional romance novel is like no other I have ever read. The author has incorporated into the story plot the apathy that some people feel for God, church, and Christians. Woven into this story is the character of a young woman and her over protective parents. We have a new Christian who falls in love with her. His parents quit going to church when they first married. The excuse? Too many hypocrites in the church? What is a true hypocrite and are they only in the church? So many twists in this story line. A message of God's love and conviction written into a romance without being preachy. I loved this story! I highly recommend this book and author, T.K. Chapin. I was given a copy for my honest review.
A well written wonderful love story. Characters are strong and, for the most part, very likable. Shows life through the eyes of a young man whose parents had been raised in the church but didn't raise him in the church. His life is very mixed up. On a visit with his sick grandmother, he begins to see the light. As his life changes, so do his chances to have a girlfriend who may/or may not become his wife. You must read this story to find out. I truly enjoyed reading this story and highly recommend it. I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I love Kyle! He made me remember what it felt like to be a new believer. The hunger for God and His word and the excitement about sharing it with everyone.
The way his grandmother "kept out of it" was funny. It was a lesson about how God will make it happen without our "help".
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was a quick, but great read.
This is a great read! Well written and an excellent story! Open the pages and dive into a journey. Kyle is just a pizza delivery guy with big potential but no idea what to do with his life. But then he meets God and everything changes. This is a beautiful story of love and learning to trust God.
A story of a young man, unsure of where he wants to go or be in life. He spy's a girl, she does something to his heart. Follow him to find God with his Grandmothers help. He grows as a man and a Christian and finds his true life and love.
What a beautiful story of young love! I loved reading the story from a male perspective. Through the story, The author reminded me of how it feels to be a new Christian and how some can be overprotective and "stuck" in their ways. I love Kyle's grandma and her wisdom and influence on Kyle.
A wonderful Christian romance. A Chance at Love is well written with great character development. I have read other books by this author and he never fails to entertain.
The book follows, Kyle, who has graduated from high school and is taking a year off of school to decide what he wants to do with his life. Kyle, has been raised in a non religious family, but when he goes to his grandmother's house to help, she introduces him to her beliefs in God and he takes to the idea of Christianity. With his grandmother's guidance, Kyle, finds a new church and an interest in another church goer, Emily. Things come together for Kyle, as he persues Emily and discovers things about himself and others around him.
I liked this book. I found the writing to be descriptive, sometimes even more than I wanted it to be, but easy to read and follow the characters. The book is very open to God. This isn't your typical Christian fiction. No, this book puts religion in your face and talks about the bible and how God works. I can see why it's called Inspirational fiction. The grandmother was good at inspiring Kyle and lighting a fire u see him so that he could fly/grow and discover what he wanted out of life. The book also covers how God creates happiness in your life and how we make mistakes but can heal/move on from them. While my beliefs are a bit different from the characters, I found the book still enjoyable.
I liked how Kyle was able to learn things from his grandmother. Kyle was open to her ways and excepted her the way she was. I liked how someone was there to guide him and help him grow. Kyle's parents chose a different lifestyle and did not teach their children about religion. Kyle, questions his parents about their choice but the book didn't go into much detail about this. Instead, the focus is on Kyle and his journey to accepting Christianity, being born again or saved.
I strongly disliked Emily's parents. Thier attitude and actions were too over the top for me and I really didn't like their behavior. However, the bit of irony in the end was enjoyable. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of that, to savor and enjoy it more.
I found the ending to be quite rushed. I could tell when the book was coming to a close because the writing changed. It changed from showing the reader, to telling the reader. I wish the author would have spent more time on the ending. While things were wrapped up for Kyle, his family issues were missing. What happened to grandma?, what happened with the sister and the dad? The ending didn't have as much resolution as I wanted it to. The book just sort of ended.
Overall, this is a cute story about a boy struggeling to find a place for himself in the world. As well as, fighting for his chance at love. Although, very heavy on God and religion (so not for everyone) the book did have something to offer those who enjoy Christian fiction. The book isn't very long so some could finish it in one sitting. The climax to the book was a bit weak but I was able to grasp the excitement from the character. The ending was a bit abrupt. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy inspirational Christian fiction.

Two completely amazing love stories all rolled up into one! Kyle Reynolds is a kid just out of school, nineteen, with a pizza delivery job. he's still living at home, with no idea of what he wants to do with his life. He delivers pizzas to a church one night, and that's when he sees Emily Hayden,a beautiful girl he immediately begins to fall for. At first, he's discouraged from seeing her or talking to her, but he persists, and a staff member who is close to emily finally agrees to give her Kyle's phone number, so they begin a friendship over the phone. Unfortunately, though, emily has a secret, one she refuses to divulge to Kyle. finally, unable to stand the suspense any longer, Kyle heads to the church one evening when he knows Emily will be there, and that's when he discovers her secret. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I won't divulge her secret either, but I'd just like to say here that the author did a fabulous job of portraying the issues that lie within Emily's secret. I am personally acquainted with her secret on a daily basis. Kyle dealt with Emily's secret in a very loving, gracious manner, and it didn't stop him from pursuing her. Kyle and Emily deal with some struggles and family complications along the way, but with God's help and grace, they deal with them head-on. Meanwhile, Kyle also meets and fals in love with the dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with the help and encouragement of his grandmother and his friend Mike, a co-worker who invites him to a weekly men's small group bible study. It's awesome to see how much Kyle grows in the Lord in such a short period of time! I loved how the author shapes Kyle from a teenage boy into a man as he grows in the Lord. It was wonderful to see how Kyle develops character, and I loved how the struggles in his life didn't cause him to completely lose hope because he hoped in the Lord and allowed God to work everything out in His perfect time and in His perfect way. this is the first novel I've read by this author, but it most certainly will not be the last! (I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.)
This is a sweet romance story of young Kyle who gets an unexpected glimpse of a beautiful young girl singing in a church where he is delivering pizza. After seeing Emily and hearing her amazing voice, he cannot get her out of his mind. He is obsessed with meeting her but a number of his efforts fail; however young love doesn't take no for an answer. While taking care of his endearing Grandma who is suffering from a hip injury, Kyle learns some of his family history and he also learns that some of the thoughts and ideals that he thought were "so cool" and logical were not as realistic as he thought. He also learns that his Grandma is a very smart and 'with it' Grandma who is willing and able to help Kyle out a little in his goals to romance Emily. The story is definitely more geared to young readers anywhere from the age of 13 to 21 or so, but it is a quick, easy read for parents and grandmas too, and a good reminder to us that our young people are watching us and what we do and say. It is also a good reminder of the importance of talking to our teens and teaching them good morals, good lifestyle and the importance of trusting God as we plan our life. Kyle's sister, Joannie, also appears in the story and there are some lessons to learn with her situation for all ages, as well. Without telling any of the story, I wish that Kyle had spent more time with his sister teaching and guiding her a little more on what to expect in life and how to avoid some of the dangers. Again, however, his life was in a process change and he hadn't been given the guidance that he needed either. I liked the characters but would have liked to learn a little more about both Kyle's and Emily's families and a little more about how their lives were shaped as they were growing up, and a little more of their romantic relationship as it developed.
I was given this book free as an ARC and am giving my honest review of this story. You will enjoy it and want to read more from this author.
Wow! What an excellent story. I really enjoyed reading A Chance at Love and as I have said before it is stories like these that are silent missiles that deliver the gospel beautifully. I loved the conversations that Kyle had with his grandmother, his parents, his sister and Emily. it was through these conversations that we got to see the beautiful message of the gospel. The Men's meeting with Mike was awesome and I'm glad the author showcased this in this story. I'm one to believe that men need groups like theses. But one of the best thing about this story was Kyle's willingness to go all out for God and not turn back. This conversation( “Yes it is. How do you believe in that but keep hidden the fact that you and Mom went to church and believe in God? If you believe in God and the Bible was inspired by Him, why would you neglect to follow it? If you believe that the Word is a lamp for your feet that leads your way in this life, why wouldn’t you share that kind of thing with your children? Aren’t you the biggest hypocrite of us all by not going?”)he had with his dad should make us all stand to attention. I believe that a Christian story should edify, encourage and draw you into a deeper relationship with the Lord. It should also make the unbeliever want to know Christ. Well this story does all of that, it's silent but deadly. It will pin prick the unbeliever's heart to want a romance with Christ and it will cause the believer to go hard and strong in the relationship with Christ.
I was given a review copy for an honest review of this book.
I've read Christian romance before and came away feeling like I had religion shoved down my throat (and I'm very religious). This wasn't the case with A Chance at Love. The book was very religious, but it didn't seem overly preachy although there was a lot of scripture quoted and doctrine discussed. I think it worked because the story was first and foremost about a boy trying to find himself and in doing so finding his way to God. The romance seeked secondary to this.
I did have some issues with the book though. I didn't think there was enough character development. For instance, we are briefly introduced to Kyle's best friend, then pretty much the next time we see him they are having this huge argument about religion and their friendship ends. Also, I felt Kyle's conversion needed more exploration. He is an atheist, then a few paragraphs later he is Christian. I'm not saying that one's conversion can't be quick, but that it just wasn't developed well. That also goes for the actual romance. The readers are not included in the budding romance between Kyle and Emily. We get to read a little of their first phone call, then the story jumps ahead a few weeks and they've been talking a lot and know tons about each other. Sure that happens, but it was hard for me to feel like they were really in love when I didn't get to read about them falling in love. And considering that this book is advertised as a romance, I wanted to fall in love with the characters and that didn't happen.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review, and that's exactly what you'll get. I honestly didn't expect this book to appeal to me at all, in fact, I thought it would be a waste of my time... I'm a 40+ mother of 2 girls - how can I possibly relate to the thoughts of a teenage boy? That's where I was wrong. This was one of the most thought provoking stories I've read in a long while. Seeing things through the eyes of a new believer is enough to make all of us question ourselves and where we are in our walk. It's a good reminder of the passion for Christ that we all felt when He first claimed us. It's also a good story to share with someone who may be on the fence. This book showcased real dilemmas, real struggles, and how God places people in our lives for a specific reason. I really feel like this author is reaching out to people with this story and showing us all that nothing is impossible with God on your side. The initial seed planted came from an unaccepted tip, but what was received was so much more. Once converted, Kyle faces criticism and ridicule from those who are supposed to be his biggest allies. Something that all Christians face at some point in their lives. It also exemplifies the grace that we all receive when coming to know Jesus. The bonus of a sweet love story was just icing on the cake. I was really kind of sad to see the story end. I will definitely be looking into more books by this author.
A Chance at Love, written by T.K. Chapin, is the perfect story of young love especially at Valentine's Day! I enjoy this author's unique writing ability of storytelling throughout this book. As with many of Chapin's books, this is written in the first person and from the male character point of view, Kyle. Kyle is a deep thinking 19 year old and trying to find his way as a young adult; he encounters his godly grandma who encourages him along the way. I found that relationship especially endearing. The verse from Proverbs 16:3 "Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established," has been used as Kyle finds his way to the Cross for salvation and guidance as he tries to grow his relationship with the Lord. In the midst of finding Christ, he begins building a relationship with Emily. Young love is so sweet, but Kyle shows such a mature outlook throughout their growing relationship in his behavior and responses to struggles along the way. A true inspirational love story that has a foundation on Christ. Great love story for all ages.
This book is well written with wonderful references to scripture which only enhances this Christian romance. Kyle, had begun to question all he knew after spending time with his Grandmother Ruth. Meeting a pretty young girl has only added to his confusion. But as with all of us, when need to remember that through Christ all things are possible. Emily and Kyle continue to grow in Christ with their friendship even when her parents stand in the way. Kyle is still undecided about what to do with his life, why his parents neglected to tell him about their religious upbringing and how good could allow him to meet the perfect girl only to keep her from him? When you read this book, I promise you that you will not want to stop until you are finished. T.K. Chapin has wrote a story that will certainly touch your heart and have you looking again at how we should be as children of Christ.
This was a great story! It was a little young for my taste, but Kyle's grandma helped with that. The ending was a surprise, but in a great way. I love happy endings, especially if the author uses faith in God as a tool. And this author did that. Kyle was led to Christ, then trusted the Lord to help him with his dilemma in dating Emily. Few novelists today are willing to talk about God. I'm glad this one did in a wonderful Christian romance.
I feel bad giving this a rating when I didn't even finish the book, but it was just not good. I guess it would be a good beginner book? Either you're a beginner at reading or a beginner at faith.
I'm trying to find more Christian Fiction. I'm getting tired of the younger characters in YA being immature, but then when I step up to adult book, there's sex thrown into for no reason. There are also quite a few YA books that have an atheist or agnostic type point of view and I'm just tired of reading about people putting God down. I want uplifting books.
I picked this book because it has a high rating and I've read a lot of good things about this author. I'm really sad it just fell flat for me. I really am interested in seeing where the story goes, but the writing is just so bad. It's so cliche and just so simple, like a middle schooler wrote it. I just couldn't do it anymore.
A nineteen year old pizza deliveryman is taking a year off after high school graduation to figure out what he wants to do with his life. When he meets a beautiful girl about his age, he knows it is time to make his decision. Her parents are very protective because she is blind. They refuse to let him date her, or even visit her. He is determined to get to know her, even if they object. T. K. Chapin is a good writer who has other books worth reading, as well as this one. Check it out!
