Trust gets you killed, love gets you hatred and being real get you hated.

Allisa “Ali” Ibarra is a beautiful, confident and smart girl who has lived a troubled life. Remnants of her father's deceit and unforgiveable actions have forced Ali into adulthood much sooner than she anticipated. Ali’s life is turned upside down when her aunt Lydia is brutally murdered in the streets of Los Angeles. Lydia became a victim of her own hustle and she learned the hard way that the game she was playing had no winner. In this game, the only winner is the game itself! Lydia's death caused Ali’s uncle Cortez to become consumed with hate and his desire for revenge became uncontrollable.
"Ibarra" is a page turner that presents the challenges of a dysfunctional family and a little girl trying to keep her world from falling apart.

DayShawn R. Smith is an author from Detroit, Michigan. At a relatively early age, he expressed keen interest in the dynamics of character development and characterization, which he observed in short stories. He enjoys the art of writing because it allows for expression of a myriad of emotions, which characterize the various stages of his personal development in areas such as love, pain, disappointment, laughter, depression, and appreciation. In DayShawn's featured novels, all of these emotions are bundled together via a wide array of differing characters. The message embedded in each novel is formed to leave readers with a specific lesson, "Put down the guns, and pick up the books because knowledge is power, which is the key to unlocking success in this game called 'life'."

Let me start off by saying I'm not a big fan of this kind of genre. I will also admit that, this book caught me off guard. The writing was amazingly done and the story itself was presented skillfully and kept me engaged and wanting to read more.

Pros

As stated above I really loved the writing and the way the story was presented.

The characters were another strong piece to this story. Every character you meet feels like someone you have met in real life.

One of my personal favorite characters is Cortez. He has one of the most tragic and compelling stories in the book.

Cons

The story itself does seem to pick up around the end of the story (which isn't really a problem and just a need to fill in this section)

This is going to be difficult, because finding legitimate problems in the story is impossible unless it's a personal problem.

Conclusion

I highly recommend this book. To all who are into the urban based story. I am usually a person who doesn't like to praise things unless they deserve it. This book is one of those things. Please check it out you won't be disappointed.
