‘When you’re suffering from bipolar disorder, you’d feel that your life is not moving forward.’

Author Miles Tucker offers no background data about his credentials in training to address Bipolar disorder, but his presentation is not meant to be for medical personnel but to the average non-medical reader and he succeeds quite well in achieving that goal. So often brief self-help books reach beyond the background information of the reader: that is not the case with this very hand guide on how to understand and live with Bipolar Disorder Type I, Bipolar Disorder Type II, Mental Health, Mood Disorder, Depression, Mania, Suicide, and Mental Disorder.

Miles sets the tone with his Introductory comments – ‘Living with bipolar disorder is not easy. One day, you experience euphoria. You feel that you can rule the world. You feel that you can do anything. But then, the next day, you feel intense sadness. You feel helpless and useless. You feel like dying. Bipolar disorder can cripple you. It can keep you from establishing healthy relationships. It can keep you from realizing your full potential. Today, over 30 million people around the world suffer from bipolar disorder and it is the 6th most common reason for a person’s inability to live a normal life. Bipolar disorder can destroy relationships and careers. Here’s how this disease can wreak havoc in your life: It destroys your ability to make a living. It causes you to make poor life decisions. It makes it difficult for you to establish healthy and lasting relationships. It leads to visual and auditory hallucinations. It makes you feel like your life is spinning out of control. It can impair your occupational and social functioning. It can increase your susceptibility to various medical problems such as migraines, thyroid disorders, heart disease, chronic pain, obesity, and diabetes. It can lead to death. Studies show that 1 out of 5 bipolar patients complete suicide successfully. It can destroy your life. The experience of having bipolar disorder is a fight in the mind. Logically, you feel that something’s wrong. But, emotionally, you don’t care. So, anything can happen. Bipolar disorder has been sort of a taboo for years. But, now, it’s widely publicized and a lot of people who are suffering from this disease have decided to seek help. This book contains valuable information that will help you understand bipolar disorder. This book also contains tips and strategies on how to manage bipolar symptoms and how to successfully live with bipolar disorder.’

Miles then proceeds to discuss his topic in the following sections: Understanding Bipolar Disorder, Habits of Successful Individuals with Bipolar Disorder, Medications for Bipolar Disorder, Types of Bipolar Therapy (psychotherapy, light and dark therapy, acupuncture, mindfulness meditation, music therapy, massage therapy), Life Style Changes, The Bipolar Diet, Establish a Routine, and Natural Herbal Remedies for Bipolar Disorder.

This is a straightforward laymen-type guide to help the reader understand and deal with Bipolar Disorder – a very down to earth substantial book

Bipolar

Good quick easy book to read. Has insights to bipolar without all the preamble that some other books go into. Having lived with bipolar for over 40 years it is always good to read another perspective.
