The second book in the series takes off right where the last one left off. It is a fast paced book that the author does a wonderful job drawing you into the world she created. It is easy to feel like it is all real as you read the book, which is a sign of a good Fantasy book.
This book intrododuces a new 'species' that Rustav must unite with in order to protect his people. Haunted by who he is and what he is capable of, he turns to an old acquaintance for guidance and help. Will he be able to protect his people? Will he be able to overcome the demon that haunts him?

I don't want to give any of the story away, but I definitely enjoyed this book and the relationships and dynamics. The story flows wonderfully with twists and loops. The ending (which is just the end of the story and not the series), made me happy and mad all at the same time, the author is truly toying with the reader's emotions; which makes for a great book.

This book is a clean book, free from language, graphic or sexual imagery. I highly recommend it.

**I was given an ARC of this book, all feelings and opinions are my own and truthful.

Rustav returns home with an idea of how to save his land from corruption and war. If he can unite the peoples of the land and the legends, they might have a chance to overthrow the corrupt King and the infiltration of the island demons.

I loved how this book two picked up right after where book one left off for a fluid continuation of the story.

Everything is ramped up in this book! There is more fighting, more strategy, more devious plots, more action, more fantasy, more creatures, more distress, etc.

This book featured POV changes between Dantzel, Rustav and Caleb, which I loved. Dantzel continues to grow into her role as strategist and fighter. Rustav grows much more in this book to develop into a leader, but he continues to make choices that lead to severe consequences and tension. Ayre is back and reveals what his true motives are. Caleb really has grown in this book as well, as he is now an able-bodied fighter who wants to be involved in the action.

The romance between Dantzel and Rustav continues but doesn’t overtake or sideswipe the main plot of this book.

There is much to learn and love from this series and I can’t wait to read more from Emily Bates!

This book begins after Demon's Heart. Rustav is the hidden heir to the kingdom. His family was killed when he was a child and he grew up with abuse and poverty. Through his trials he is a man of honor and integrity who wants to do the right thing for his people.

I wish that I would have re-read Demon's Heart before I started this one. I had forgotten most of the story. I don't feel that I was completely up to speed before finishing this book. I appreciated this story for it's merits, a refresher would have been helpful.

This book is full of action. Rustav is able to join forces with fantasy creatures that had been considered legend. He has away of pulling others together and helping them find their way to cooperation and acceptance. I really liked that he sees merits in those around him. '

The book has war violence, betrayal, and romance.

I was blessed to see this book before and after production and let me tell you, you're getting a treasure.

The story follows Rustav and his haunting and emotionally gutting journey to free his people by forming an alliance between three races who despise each other for different reasons.

I wanted to punch Rustav a couple times as he makes very human mistakes and bad choices, but his reasons are noble, no matter how stupid the decision. In the end, he proves himself the very best and humblest of leaders with a purity of heart despite the chaos he's seen and produced.

A very worthy and action packed read. The characters never stop moving and the drama escalates with each chapter until the heart wrenching conclusion, which made me cry the first time I read it.

Go read Demon's Heart, the first book, and return to ravish Stone Alliance. You won't regret it.

I loved the first book, but this one was even better! I liked how the first book really delved into characters so you actually care what happens to them, then this book is a roller-coaster of action and suspense. I couldn't put it down! The writing style is interesting and fun as well as descriptive and engaging. I loved the ending and can't wait for book three!
