No holes barred

The author is like a dog with a bone (and I mean that in the best way possible!). This is a must read for you no matter how you think or have been taught about the nature of God. A real eye-opener.

Jeffress's book presents the case for the exclusiveness of Christianity, that trust in Jesus as Savior and repentance before physical death is the only way to have a right relationship with God and enter Heaven after death.

I was disappointed. Jeffress does a nice job explaining his position, a position that I share for the most part. He does not present arguments in a convincing way and that was disappointing. His arguments were so weak. By the way he presented the facts, no thoughtful person would be convinced of his position . I was not reassured of our shared position after reading the book, in fact I am no more convince than I was before.

His final chapter was titled "Simple answers to complex question" in which he gives "sound bite" answers to present to someone that does not share our position. This may be the problem non-believer have with conservative evangelicals (1930's style fundamentalist), that they give simpleton answers to a complex topics.

One argument on page 172-173 that Jeffress puts forth is based on sympathizing for a person. Since we have sympathy for a person, the augment goes, it proves God will have sympathy for him and accept him into heaven. Now, the augment would have been more convincing if he would have showed in scripture that God bases who he has sympathy on who man has sympathy. And that God accepts into heaven the person on whom he has sympathy.

Even when Jeffress uses scripture to prove his point, it is not done well. Just by quoting scripture one has not proven a point. Satan used scripture on Jesus during his 40 day fast in the desert, but he did not prove his point to Jesus. Proper interpretation of scripture is still needed.

For those who believe that all people go to Heaven; for those who believe that one can die, go to Sheol, then believe in Jesus and repent and then go to heaven and have a relationship with God; for those who believe that one can pray to any god, that all gods are Jehovah just called by another name; don't expect much from this book.

At one point in His ministry, Jesus asked his disciples, "Who do you say that I am?" (Matthew 16:15) We all have to answer this question -- our eternal destiny depends on it. Dr. Jeffress presents the gospel -- the only true way to heaven -- in this straight-forward, Bible-based commentary. At the end of the book, he provides simple answers (talking points) to complex questions that often arise when one is sharing the gospel message. This book is well worth the read.

Love Pastor Robert Jeffress's work. He is bold and shows readers how to be bold in sharing the Word of God. Supported by the meat of Scripture, this book is a great refresher for the faithful or a primer for a new Christian. The last chapter is a Q&A with the hard questions and arguments Christians frequently get from nonbelievers along with Bible-based answers to those quandaries.

Excellent book

This is a good book to help Christians sort out their thoughts about how they think or react to people who say all religions or ways lead to heaven. The author has a lot of great examples and stories you can use when talking to others. I guarantee you will enjoy this book if you are a Christian. And if not you will have a lot to think about.

Ready to Give an Answer -

What is Christianity’s must offensive belief? Tough question, isn’t it? Well, according to Dr. Robert Jeffress in his latest book Not All Roads Lead to Heaven, it is the Biblical teaching that faith in Jesus is the exclusive way to heaven.

We have all heard the secular religious mantra that all faiths are equally valid and that all of us are basically good people. But what does the Bible really say? In this well written and accessible book Dr. Jeffress draws upon his extensive knowledge of the Scripture and his personal exploration of the subject to provide a compelling case for the exclusivity of the Christian faith.

Undoubtedly this is a controversial subject and Dr. Jeffress pulls no punches but his straight forward approach to the subject is tempered with a genuine love for those who have not taken that “leap of faith” as he describes it.

A few chapters which really spoke to me were those addressing the questions or in some cases the accusations we are often challenged with when sharing our faith:

8. What about Those Who Could Never Believe in Christ?

Dr. Jeffress addresses these questions and several more with sound and simple Biblical arguments. After reading this book I know I am better equipped to fulfill the Biblical mandate to give a reasonable answer to some of the most difficult and important questions of our Christian faith.

This is definitely a book every Christian should read! In today's society Jesus being the only way to salvation, eternal life has been watered down and turned into one of the ways.

"...the single greatest stumbling block for nonbelievers coming to faith in Christ is the issue of exclusivity." pg. 14

Sadly, it is not just lay people watering down the way of salvation but pastors/ministers, and popes, too!

We are trying to make Jesus fit the world, and this is not how salvation works. We try to make the Bible say what we want it to say, so as not to offend anyone. Jesus spoke the truth at all times, and it's only through the truth, that we and others can make it to heaven.

Pick up this book, read it, study the Scriptures shared and as you do you will be challenged, encouraged and more. The goal of this book is not to win an argument.

This is a very good and quick read. It was good to brush up on the doctrine of the exclusivity of Jesus Christ, He's the only way to salvation. I think many in the church have forgotten that, become very comfortable, and forget to proclaim Him to our lost world. I know that's been my case often. I give this book a 4/5, I thought it didn't go deep enough into answering the question of what happened to people before Christ. The rest was pretty solid. It will help equip you with some good and consise answers.

For the most part, very solid. However, he did lose me a little when he talked about how the Old Testament-era people could be saved even though they didn't have the opportunity to know (therefore, believe in) Jesus. I don't disagree; his point on this was just a little meandering and indirect and not as convincing as it could have been. And the same goes for his mention of mentally-challenged adults, babies, children, etc. and the fate of their souls. Again, I don't disagree, I have just heard it explained much more effectively and convincingly elsewhere.

This book accomplishes one clear goal: to show using ample evidence from the Bible that only believers in Jesus receive salvation. Not all religions worship basically the same God and you don’t get there by just being a good person. He gives many examples to support his argument and I found some really interesting facts linking the prophecies of OT to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Very valuable insights. The fourth and fifth discs in the audiobook get into the nitty gritty so don’t give up. It can be slow in parts.

Robert Jeffress lays out clearly the Biblical claim of the exclusivity of Christ. He surveys the Biblical teaching thoroughly. He shows that to deny the claims of Christ would lead to faith falling like a chain of dominoes. Effective use of illustrations emphasize the truth claims that he makes. This is a much needed book in a world where relativism is rampant.

The Holy Gospels as fulfilled by Christ reveal that only through the grace of Christ are the elect saved. This book provides the support needed to understand how Christianity is the only TRUE religion. An excellent and essential read for those who want to understand exclusivity.
