Fly fishers often ask Tom Rosenbauer how they can take their angling to the next level, and in his latest book the Orvis manager, expert fly fisher, instructor, tier, and award-winning author sets out to help them do just that. With forty years in the business, Rosenbauer knows the information fly fishers need to step up their game—whatever the level.
Tom answers the top questions asked by anglers looking to take the next step. He offers advice on casting and rigging techniques that are beyond the basic level taught in fly-fishing schools but are essential if you want to be more successful, and he includes QR codes to take you to videos of his teaching tips in action.
One of the best written fly fishing books I've read to date
I follow Toms excellent podcast and downloaded his book out of interest when it popped up on my recommended list. Tom has provided a thoughtful guide for the fly fisher who has gotten a season or two under their belt and are at the stage of looking to up their game. Unlike many fishing instructional books, Tom goes into sufficient depth to share some of the nuggets he has gleaned over his 50years of fishing. Many concepts that I had a basic knowledge of or have observed while from fishing seemed to click into place while reading this book. The photographs and diagrams add to the information on the page and the added bonus of short video clips to further illustrate a point where a nice touch. Best read on a tablet to enjoy the colour photos and short clips. Thank you and well done Tom. I have already noticed an improvement in my approach and the book is timely as our season is just underway here in New Zealand.
