Kamiakin Country: Washington Territory in Turmoil 1855-1858

Rate this book
"Kamiakin Country is the story of Yakama Chief Kamiakin. Kamiakin was a highly-respected Native American leader. He led the tribes of the Pacific Northwest in an attempt stem the flow of Euro Americans into that region in the mid 19th century by peaceful means and by force of arms. Writer Jo N. Miles takes a close look at the events during that period and the leaders on both sides in the conflict"--Provided by publisher.

Despite how much I was loving Possession, and I truly, truly was, I sat it aside awhile ago. Too much else going on, and burned out eyes at the end of my work days. I do, however, need to keep reading for work, and this is a fantastic place to start: Jo Miles volunteers in the Archive, is a totally decent, good man, and this book seems a good intro into putting the documents I’ve been digitizing into proper historical context. I bought it off Amazon, and I’ll have to get him to autograph it at some point :)
