Though it's not the most intriguing, it is interestingly suspenseful and has Disneyland in it.

Recommended 13+ for action and scary situations (I haven't read it in 8 years so don't quote me. But I do remember it being pretty clean.)

Wow... All the events in this fictional counter-terror thriller were written about 6 months to 5 years before they actually happened.

Another clean suspenseful book. This author has been called "the Christian Tom Clancy", and I think that that is quite true.

Perhaps THE worst attempt by a so-called Christian to blatantly display his ignorance and self-centered ego by parading blatant lies, intolerance and everything Jesus preached against doing in this life.

The story itself, in the abstract, was fine. Predictable but 2-3 star mindless fiction. However, the details arrogantly positioned as factual descriptors of Christianity (and other misses) brings this book to the level of trash.

Not sure where on the west coast this author actually,Ives but it’s obviously nowhere near San Francisco or Lake Tahoe (the two primary settings for most of the book). Nobody, zero residents, ever refer to “the” 680 or “the” 580 (page 36 in my paperback version). “Boomtown” is factually just over the CA/NV border on the way to Reno from the north shore of Lake Tahoe. Nowhere near Auburn or the Placerville area as the author would have you believe. I’m all for creative license but dude, get real. Make stuff up - don’t fabricate truth (like all your conservative Republican cohorts do with such ease). There’s at least one other blatant fabrication during the run up to the Disney scenes but I got tired of keeping track. Suffice it to say, the author’s an idiot.

What probably gets me the worst, is the disturbing mis-use of my faith. I am an evangelical Christian and fully believe Satan is hard at work in the lives of every self-proclaimed Christian Republican. How the right-wing hijacked Christianity is mind-boggling to me. In no particular order:
1) only another self-absorbed wanna-be spotlight grabbing Christian like John Ortberg seem to have problems accepting that beautiful women are not only capable of anything, most normal men can accept them without fantasizing about sleeping with them or envisioning them naked to the point of distracting from doing his job. Readers, Christian men are fully capable of respecting and valuing women.
2) similarly, the veiled reference throughout the text implying that women (wives & girlfriends) should be completely subservient to men at all times, or be implied as dumb as rocks, is shameful. Somebody has self-esteem issues.
3) even though this was written a while ago, so much of the author’s drivel (e.g. hatred of Islam; intolerance; might makes right; disdain for liberals) is indicative of the atmosphere currently espoused by the illegitimate Trump administration. If God truly did bring the #TreasonWeasel to power, then He did so to wake up the U.S. citizenry to ensure that come this November (or sooner if Bob Mueller wraps up his investigation beforehand) a properly legally elected Democratic majority in Congress, can codify laws protecting the Constitution that Republicans are Hell-bent on continuing to ignore and violate.

Save your time, don’t read this book or anything by this author.

A few things keep this from a higher rating. It’s been a long time since my physics classes, but I’m fairly sure that EMP does not continue to cause damage over an extended period of time.

There is no reason to make up a fictitious county in Arizona. Tucson is not a county; in fact, it is the county seat of Pima county. I suspect that Tucson County is more a matter of ignorance on the part of the author and all of the readers involved in the publishing process. No excuse.

This is a direct follow up to Shaiton's Fire. Just like the first, it starts out kind of slow, but then picks up and then to an exciting conclusion. This takes place during present time and it deals with the fight against terrorism. Their is no swearing or cheating on husbands. It is a pretty clean read.

A very good story, however some characters are starting to become annoying... at times for me, it distracts from the main event, but hopefully it will come together n the final book...

I must have liked it pretty well, because shortly after beginning to read, I realized that I'd read it before! Like most of you, I have a large TBR pile. Nevertheless, I still completed it again. A good read, suspenseful, even the second time through :-)
I enjoy the special forces battling the terrorist bad guys. This series is extra special because of its Christian author and overtones. Just to show that we don't need all the smut and bad language to make a great book, even with action/suspense!

Jake, you have definitely inherited the gift of storytelling! Amazingly written, interesting, and thought provoking. So glad I have Jesus on
My side and I know where I'm going. Characters come to life. They became friends. Reading the next one to see what happens to them.

Difficult to keep my attention because of the in-depth description of procedures and apparatus used in terrorism training and operations. The sacrifices this team makes is real and glad to know there are people who pursue these skills. For someone else the details would be more interesting.

The characters are a bit flat but the plot's pretty interesting. The hero's not annoying, always a plus. His family issues aren't all that strong plot pts, but that's just me being nit-picky now.

I honestly think you are what is wrong with this world. Just because you are a Christian doesn't mean you should tarnish one religion for the other. What kind of Christian are you? You blame the mistakes of people on their religion. Are you saying there are no monsters in the same religion practise? Stop spreading hate and fear into people's heart
