Zion Legacy #5

Stones of Jerusalem

Rate this book
The latest novel from bestselling authors Bodie and Brock Thoene continues the extraordinary story of faith and love in the first century a.d. that they began in their previous book, The Jerusalem Scrolls. The Old City has fallen and Moshe Sachar, the courageous Israeli leader, remains hidden in an underground tunnel, guarding the ancient sacred scrolls that tell of his people's long, heroic history. Following an elder rabbi's instructions, Moshe opens a scroll and again becomes immersed in the ancient biblical tale of Marcus, the Roman centurion, and Miryam, the troubled young woman he loves. Combining superb storytelling with an enchanting historical setting, this thrilling episode presents the gripping plight of a striking cast of biblical characters amid a rich tapestry of romance and intrigue.

This is a love story, You are led to believe it is the love of two people, one roman, one Jewish widow, one despised being a Roman Soldier and the Other, scorned for being a woman of loose moral Character. There is love, hate and Political and Religious maneuvering and deception. The land, The people are all in a state of unrest and distrust. Through all of this there is man preaching Love The real love story is the love the Lord has for us and our redemption, because of that love. When you can love God 1st will all your soul andyour neighbor as you love yourself you are well on your way to a life of inner peace.

This is a fabulous continuation of the stories about Jerusalem. Reading through volumes 4 and 5 and possibly 6, you get the understanding of John 20:30-31. Even though this book is fiction, it still upholds the basic doctrines we learned from the Gospels, during the life of Christ.

I liked this book just fine, but I really wish she would have just made these characters and these lines of story in their own series instead of putting them in the Zion Legacy series. I want to know what happens the to characters I’ve been following for years! I don’t want “new” characters!

Stones of Jerusalem (Book V) of the series is my favorite. Definitely a page turner as Jesus taught the people stories from scripture and performed miracles. Looking forward to the day when He returns for his believers.

“The Stones of Jerusalem” Was a very good novel by Brodie & Brock Thorne! It is the 5th in the Zion Legacy series that transports you the first century A.D.
The old city has fallen and in the midst of the destruction, Moshe Sacchar, remains in a tunnel safely hidden deep below ground. There he guards one of the few remaining treasures of Jewish antiquity:
ancient, sacred scrolls that tell a long, heroic history. With the instructions of an elder rabbi, Moshe opens a scroll as he has done before, and again he becomes immersed in the story of Marcus, a Roman centurion, and Miriam, the troubled young woman he loves. The story is set against the corrupt and tumultuous politics of the Roman Empire.
The gripping plights of the biblical characters and superb storytelling, along with historical authenticity will keep you transfixed with page-turning novel. It’s a very good read and one that I highly recommend!

This is the fifth book in the series Zion Legacy. I had not read the other four books. It is not required to enjoy this book but may have made the book easier to understand. The story follows three young, abandoned boys, a Roman centurion, and a Pharisee. They are looking for Jesus to find out if he is the real deal, if he is going to overthrow the Roman government, and if he can heal. When they do find him, lives will be changed. Interesting story and I loved the ending. I will be anxious to read the other books.

As this book is the fifth book in the series of "Zion Legacy", it's May 28, 1948, and the city of Old Jerusalem has been captured by those whose mission is to completely eliminate the Jewish people.
Without sharing this episode of the Zion Legacy series, the story from the New Testament is brought to life in an unexpected manner.
Thank you, Bodie & Brock Thoene, for staying committed to the true scripture's lessons.
Looking forward to the next episode.

The story is very well told and enjoyable to read. I felt they took a few too many liberties with Biblical characters, however, including saying that Mary, the sister of Lazaraus and Martha, was also Mary Magdalene. Thought that was going too far.

An excellent plausible story during the time of Jesus; however, I dropped one star because this series should have been split into two. The first three stories centered in the 1940's, and the last three centered in the time of Jesus.

The 5th book in this series, really a continuation of the plot in the 4th book, which was a plot arc that seemingly has little to do with what happened in books 1-3. I found the pacing of this one lagging at the beginning. It took me a bit to get into it. After realizing what was happening in the 4th book and being familiar with the New Testament, many of the events were predictable to me as they unfolded. Things remain loose, so clearly book 6 will continue this arc, but also somehow wrap up what happened in books 1-3. They really could read like a separate series (minus the prologue and epilogue).

These incredible stories always leave me wanting more, but since this series was written before The A.D. Chronicles, I had to go back and look for the sequence in the story of Miryam and Marcus in some of those. No matter. The books are all rich with Biblical history, foundational truth, irresistible characters and so much more. Never a disappointment, always satisfying, with top-notch organization and prose. (If I could write as well as the Thoene's, everyone would read their books because of my reviews. ;-) )

Great Book...it's about a little boy and some other people in the time of Jesus, it's a fictional book although the events that the fiction boy and other characters witness are from the Bible. It's interesting and gave me goose bumps just thinking about the people that lived when Jesus lived and met him. It's really hard to explain the book because it's a fictional book based on a non-fictional man and events but it's a fantastic book. A Great Read!

I read this series years ago and wasn't as enthralled with it as I was with the two Zion series. However, with age comes new appreciation. Perhaps it's a deeper knowledge of our faith or of Israel struggles as a country. Whatever the reason, I very much recommend this series although I like the last three in the series the best.

The authors take some of the stories of the New Testamnet and put it into novel form. Interesting and as far as I could tell they stuck to the stories as told in the Bible. Made the stories come alive. I will read more of the series.

Great historical retelling of the beginning of Statehood of Israel, good characterisations and authentic Messianic Jewish culture. I also liked that it was fair about the different peoples/cultures/religions involved, even though the book was told from the (Messianic) Jewish perspective.

What a marvelous journey back in time!! The blind see, the lame walk, the deaf hear, and the dead live again! Still there are those who won't believe and are blind to Truth. Captivating and such an offer of hope and life for the broken and unwanted in the world.

Could only find an abridgment in audiobook form. Pretty disappointing to not get the whole book or be able to finish the series since I can't find any more after this.
