I saved writing a review on the two middle books of this series as they would have mimicked the first review.

With this last installment of The Baker Street Mysteries, we find the Baker Street Irregulars trying to solve the mystery of the casualties surrounding the Underground construction site.

It took me a while to finish this book as my junior year of college became quite and very hectic. When I bought this book, it was right before school started. I finally finished it recently.

Once again, it was a clever book with Christian messages not thrown blatantly in your face. I must admit that the books did grow progressively more-er- "Christian" but kept certain characters ambiguously so. (Was the great Sherlock Holmes a Christian in this series? Can't tell you. The author wasn't clear cut with that. I suppose that's good though as it was the same with the canon stories...)

Anywhoozles, as this was the last book in the series, I feel I can truly comment on the characteristics of the Irregulars. Danny, the leader of the small group, started good for me then fell to a character who seemed a little too cocky for his own good. I didn't quite like him in the end of of it all. His original intents in the first books were great, but in this one, he seemed to go more rogue in his work as an irregular. I didn't like how he could break some laws and get away almost without any repercussions.
Peachy the second in command stayed pleasant to me throughout all four books. No further comment.
Duff the lovable oaf was so. I even think he matured as a character by the time the fourth book came around.
Finally, even though Claire Avery was basically thrown in to provide a girl for Peachy and Danny to fight over, I think she was a fairly good character who though not quite as 3D as I would have liked her to be, was a generally well written character.

My final thoughts.
I don't think this series should have ended the way it did. It just sort of was another case closed. I think it needed a conclusion for the Irregulars for it to be a finished series. I needed one more story or better epilogue/ending for this book to have had a full conclusion to the series.

Still, I'd recommend this book, hard to find as it was.

this is the last book in the Baker Street Mysteries though it hardly feels as if it were meant to be the last. The mystery itself was a good one with just enough clues left for the reader to notice but still complex enough that you had to really think about it.
