In the very far distant future, all the planets in our solar system have either been colonised or mined for precious mineral resources. However, this is still not enough to cater for the ever growing human population. Numerous space-stations have been built all over the Milky Way as way-stations for deep space exploration ships. One such ship, the Revelation, sets off from the outer fringes of our galaxy with the mission to explore our nearest neighbouring one, Andromeda, for potentially colonisable new planets. The story is good, and it reads like a movie.
The nature of humans is very well described in the book.
