Black Butterfly was my first read by author Dante Feenix. It started off slow but then picked up speed mid point. This was a good urban fiction mystery It was action packed and left me wondering what would happen in part 2. If you are looking for a quick read, this is definitely for you!

Okay, so I just finished this novel and am halfway through part 2. I loved the fact that a single mother was put into a heroic light. Wow, I don't know where to begin... a single mother has dreams of being a star but is not supported by the people around her. Only her young son believes in her dreams(sounds like a nice cute little story, right?) Wrong! She is framed for a murder and all hell breaks lose in her life when the REAL bad guys go after her son to smoke her out of hiding. And boy does she come out with a vengence! Guns blazing, plotting, and mad as hell; to defend her young son and family.

WOW! To me the author seemed to be painting a contrast of the problems they encounter and lengths that parents will go through to protect their little ones. I read "Diary Of A 12 Inch Brotha" by this author and it took me by surprise. I liked that one too, but this book was gritty, rough, and unrelenting. I absolutely loved it! I think that must be this author's claim to fame... the unexpected jolt. I don't usually like to use this word because of what it's short for, but... I am now a FAN.

I really don't have much to say about this one. It's one of those books that stuff happens but nothing you get excited about.

There was murder, set up plots, sex (not bad and not to much) but nothing that had me hanging on the authors every word. I've already bought the other 2 so I will finish up those but if I hadn't already purchased them I think I would be done. I'll see if book 4 & 5 are worth buying after I finish 2 & 3. It was a trilogy, but now I think there are 5 stories to date. Not sure how long the rest of them are but this one only took a few hours to read.

Beautifully written

FIve stars goes out to the Feenix. This was my first book I read by this author. I was truly touched in some many ways. I understand the struggle of a single parent trying to make it, only to have those around you try to crush your dreams. It's a shame that Nadet, a innocent child had to suffer in the end. A compelling story of how sometimes the system fails to protect us.
