Two years of sobriety come to a sudden end on a rainy Halloween night when an intoxicated driver runs a stop sign, resulting in the crunch of steel, shattered glass, and high-pitched screams as his car plows into another. In that instant the lives of six people intertwine: The driver, who puzzles those closest to him by getting drunk after such a long time of sobriety; his faithful girlfriend, for whom he was planning on buying an engagement ring just hours prior to the accident; the woman in the passenger seat, who is grappling with her husband’s recently moving out; her estranged husband, who wonders if this unfortunate accident might be the catalyst to reunite him with his badly injured wife and their young daughter; and especially the driver’s brother, Jason Smith, and the injured woman’s sister, Ashley Mansfield, who in the midst of all the tumult, anger, and pain surrounding them find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other…
This story of love and forgiveness is heart warming. Tragedy brought these six lives together. Love bloomed from between two people that needed it. Two people found their way back to a place of happiness together. One nearly lost his life from a mistake, but succeeded in recovering to make permanent the one person who made his life complete.
Ashley, Jason, Brent , Cassie, Joanna and Donald are thrown together in a horrible situation. It was not an easy place to be in.. Heat nearly burns up the pages with one of these couples.. A great read
Ms Griffin writes a passionate novel of trust, forgiveness, understanding, and staying true too the one person that you love . I really don't want to give anything away about this novel for those who have not read it yet. As always Ms Griffin gives us excellent character background to describe their stages of life lessons. Buy the novel and see for your self that the title lets you know it gonna be a emotional novel that will get you turning the pages!
I totally enjoyed this love story. I wasn't like Donald at first because he was all about the money. I the really didn't like Joanna because she was being a bit of a hypocrite. Thankfully, things worked out for everyone. Though their first meeting was not the best, Jason and Ashkey were able to find true love.
Bettye has a way of writing stories that leave you thinking even after you've read the last page. I enjoyed reading this book even though it was not quite what I was expecting. I questioned the choices that were made after the accident. Jason made some questionable choices.
As always, Bettye brings it. I never even thought of what could happen if a recovering alcoholic mistakenly got a hold of liquor - what the impact would be . I really enjoyed this book. Thanks, Bettye! Looking forward to your next one!
