Romance on the frontier from a best-selling author; the story of a woman who must learn to overcome her fears in order to love again. Daughters of Blessing book 4.
Award-winning and bestselling author Lauraine Snelling has over 80 books published with sales of over 4.5 million. Her original dream was to write horse books for children. Today, she writes adult novels about real issues centered on forgiveness, loss, domestic violence and cancer in her inspirational contemporary women’s fiction titles and historical series, including the favorite, Blessing books about Ingeborg Bjorklund and family.
Lauraine enjoys helping others reach their writing dreams by teaching at writer’s conferences across the county. She and her husband Wayne have two grown sons, and a daughter in Heaven. They live in the Tehachapi Mountains with a Basset named Sir Winston ob de Mountains, Lapcat, and “The Girls” (three golden hens).
Another book read to the wife. She loves to be read to, she always has. Reading is one of the few things that we can do together.
This is the final book in the series. The story is about Rebecca Baard and the good people of Blessing. Without spoiling the ending, Rebecca and the other 'Daughters of Blessing' are contemplating their futures. i.e. who they will marry and what their ambitions are. The story mostly concerns Rebecca and a long time friend.
In the story, Haakan suffers a stroke, something close to home for Diana and myself, but he survives and appears to be getting back to himself. Had Blessing lost Haakan, that would have been a great loss.
Diana really liked the book. She held up four fingers when asked how many stars.
This was one of my favorite books in this series. Once again a good look at North Dakota in the early 1900's. If you like Lauraine Snelling's other books you will enjoy this one as well.
The last in a series of 4, this book (and series) is actually a sequel to a larger series of books all about pioneers in the Red River Valley of North Dakota and (the original series spans 1880 to about 1900) takes place in the first 4 or 5 years of the 20th century. The characters in these 4 books are the daughters of the women in the first series. These books appealed to my love of all things pioneer, "Little House on the Prairie", life in simpler times, and very Christian without being preachy at all. Loved them all, can't wait to go back and read the original series.
I just love Lauraine Snelling. Her books are very uplifting, well written and such a delight to read.
While this series contains 4 books it is really a continuation of 8 books in two other series. So the entire thee series covers about 25 years. This book takes place in the very early 1900's. It includes interesting info about new inventions such as the ice box, running water, gas lights, the washing machine, etc. This book is the last in this series (Daughters of Blessing) but fortunately there's another series where this takes off.
Wow! This one was a little easier to read. Sometimes we have to wait for our blessings from the Lord, and even go through some awful things. However, God knows what we need when we need it. Even though His timing is not the same as ours, He always does come through and bless us.
Nice to read about these young ladies growing up. I hope there's another book to find out what happens to some of the story lines that have been started.
I've now read thirteen of this series. The early ones in the series are my favourites, but I'm still interested to know what happens next with the characters.
I had a hard time getting into this story. Her others graboed me right from the start. I actually gave up on it and quit reading. A couple of months went by and I decided to give it another try. I plugged along and finally started enjoying it half way through. I ended up actually enjoying it.
Charming story! It was sweet to see how a group of friends could bond over matchmaking for one another. I especially enjoyed Rebecca’s dream of opening an ice cream and soda shop. This story featured faith, family, romance, and hope for the future—all themes I enjoy reading about.
If you like Christian fiction, this is one you will enjoy. Rebecca is a young, unmarried woman with a dream. She wants to start her own business - an ice cream parlor. Her parents have died and her brother is not supportive. She decides to visit an old friend who has moved to Bismarck, ND and see some of the businesses there. This book is set in the early 1900s and it is interesting to learn a bit about life in a small town in this era.
One of the things I really liked about the book was the way the characters dealt with conflict. Instead of lashing out, they turned the other cheek, looked at the offending party with compassion and tried to understand things from their point of view, made apologies and amends even in situations where they had been wronged and were deserving of an apology from the offending party more so than they needed to make amends. It is all about Christian spirit and doing what's right even in situations when you really want to harm someone or lash out. The characters showed tremendous restraint. It would be nice if all people behaved in this way towards one another.
I got a warm feeling from reading this book, but I don't think it is for everyone. It is very slow-moving and there is not much of a plot. This is definitely not a page-turner.
I picked up the four books in this series story arc ”The Daughters of Blessing” and found them good, but not great. In my religious romance novels I like stories where I see the characters fall in love and where a character’s faith is contemplated with strong, realistic thinking. Either a characters faith is strong and they can voice why that is or a character is struggling and they work through the struggle to find a stronger faith. These books seem to gloss over some of the potentially darker stuff to stay light and fluffy. Which is fine but deprives the story of some substance.
Overall I liked the story. The author is definitely one of the better religious romance writers I have read but this series felt a little cookie cutter. It’s not necessary to have read the previous books to enjoy this one.
If you want to come to know the characters you are reading about and come to love them, then Lauraine Snelling's series are for you. The name of the town is Blessing and you are blessed as your faith in God is consistently increased by characters who have become your friends. You laugh, rejoice and cry with them. Then you pray for another chance to spend time with them. Thank you.
Now I have lack of sleep because I enjoyed this so much and couldn't put it down. This book is about Rebecca and the other single girls of Blessing. They are worried they will become spinsters and discuss how to get a male to notice them. Also Rebecca's dream of a soda shop is out the window due to the fact that all of the animals west of the Mississippi had to be destroyed due to hoof & mouth disease. There is much healing and tragedy in this one.
This one was also boring like #3…it just lacked something. I think Sophie’s Dilemma is SO angsty and dramatic I expected the other books to be the same LOL. I love Gerald but we barely saw him😞😞I think it could’ve been improved by more romance, more more more Gerald, more Mrs Valders hating Rebecca😂😂just more romance!! These are VERY relaxing reads though bc you’re basically seeing into this family’s life which is AMAZING but at the same time it gets a bit boring XD
Sad to see the series end. Such a good book about family helping each other out. With all the children getting married and having babies, there is plenty of help needed everywhere. Loved that part of the story. Still would have liked a book exploring where Grace ends up with her at the school for the blind in New York City or with the handsome Johnathan. Great author though.
The last of this series .. I did feel the ending was abrupt in the epilogue. It felt rushed compared to others in this series. Rebecca surely has a happy ending. I do wonder whatever happened to Kurt and why he never wrote Rebecca again. Much better choice with Gerald. His mom certainly irritated me lol. Great book otherwise.

Grace's story may have been my favorite but this is definitely second if not tied for my favorite. I am very pleased with how this ended. Overall I really enjoyed the Daughters of Blessing series and am looking forward to the next Blessing series.
Really liked this page turner about Rebecca and her brothers. A nice ending in this series, had to grab the tissues as I always do in this author's stories.
It's a "blesding" to read about dreams and love. It's such an humbling feeling to have prayer and trust in God as the strong basis of this family story. Only God could make things this "sweet"
My first book by this author. Definitely going back to the first one, as I hope to read the whole series. Loved all the characters. I especially enjoyed seeing their faith. A good reminder to never forget God is present & to be thankful. Something I need reminded of many times over.
Like most of Ms Snellings books, the book follows course with wholesome, warm and loving main characters. Books are centered around faith and family. I’ve enjoyed reading her books.
Oh my goodness, this is such a lovely book! I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Rebecca and getting caught up with all the other Blessing families. I feel there is more to this story and those in Blessing. I look forward to future books in this series!
This is a great ending to a wonderful series about the Bjorklund family, Norwegian immigrants to America. I really admired Rebecca’s courage, faith, and pursuit of her dream even when it seemed impossible.
