Avery Broussard finds lost things. Hers is a terrible and beautiful gift, when it works right. Returning to the bayous of her youth, after running away years before, she's desperate to save her brother. A missing child, people and conflicts from her past, a lost love all lead to a crashing crescendo of a climax. This is a book that everyone should read. It is beautiful and heartbreaking. It has nail-biting tension and sly smiles. It has haunted me since reading it. It is the book Toni was meant to write. And I loved every word of it.
