Work, love, and life are just one long, hard slog for the fish-filleting foursome Pearl, Jan, Shelley, and Linda. But their fortunes are set to change when Linda finds tickets to Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot. Out go the hairnets and overalls as the four ditch work, do themselves up, and head off for a drink, a flirt, and a flutter.
Wonderful characters and relationships. An incredibly heartwarming play. As with "Be My Baby", I felt it could have finished a scene earlier, although this has nothing to do with boredom - I could read about Pearl, Shelley, Linda and Jan for hours - but from a plot point. All in all, another fantastic Amanda Whittington play and one I wish I could see on stage.
Hilarious play with warm-hearted humour. I played the character of Jan and found her story well written but was most intrigued by Pearl and the 'affair'.
