The IOU

Rate this book
When Sam Inverno, divorced and recently retired, meets Anne Holt, his quiet life is upended. Against his better judgment, he gets involved with Anne, a much younger woman, who claims she was jilted at the altar under very mysterious circumstances. Anne is bright, sexy and alluring. Sam can’t resist. He falls for her in spite of the difference in their ages. When Anne’s former fiancé turns up missing, she quickly becomes a suspect. Anne swears she is innocent and Sam believes her. He ignores the sage advice of family and friends. When the inevitable happens and Anne is charged with murder, Sam, already in too deep, plunges ahead, supporting Anne emotionally and financially. As Anne’s trial date gets closer, her story begins to unravel, forcing her to develop yet another strategy, one that leaves Sam in the lurch. Faced with desperate circumstances, Sam does what many of us do. He misleads and hurts the people who matter most, while, at the same time, leaning on them. In the process, Sam learns the truth of the French philosopher, Jean Paul Sartre’s words; “We are our choices.”

Couldn't Put It Down

IOU was a well crafted story that kept me wanting to read on. Len's style was engaging from the very first sentence. One of those stories that stays with you. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great read with no slow spots.
