Whether you're a Christian or not, this book was wonderful!

“We can’t live our lives dependent on the praise of someone else, but we can live our lives daily praising others.”

“There is something to be said about a woman who follows through with her commitments, despite how she feels. There’s strength, honor, and God’s glory on the other side of remaining steadfast.”

This was a decent, easy read. There were some good nuggets, but overall not one that will make my top recommended list.

I'm so glad I got my hands on this book. Nicki's painfully honest storytelling made me immediately feel at ease with her, like she is my slightly quirky, always has a pot of hot coffee on, next-door neighbor. And since I live on my own little "fixer-upper farm," I could completely relate to so many of her stories about gardening, faith, and family.

I always enjoy reading books by authors who don't claim to know it all, but are wiling to share the tough life lessons that have brought them one step closer to the person they were created to be. Nicki is warm and endearing, and her willingness to be vulnerable and honest about her shortcomings is a breath of fresh air.

I love how this book was saturated with truth from scripture and the beautiful story of Ruth's faithfulness in spite of her challenging circumstances. A few of my favorite take-away's from the book were: the challenge to discover my refinement assignment, to choose what I want most over what I want now, and how following through unleashes the power of God in my life.

I would highly recommend this book to you if you have ever struggled with the whole "quitting" thing. There is so much practical application in the "Make it Stick" and "To be Honest" sections at the end of each chapter, you won't be able to help but apply the 5 habits to your own unique situation.

Enjoyable, quick read. I appreciate her thoughts in comparison and realize how that can get in the way of accomplishing big things that God has planned for us.

Otherwise, I don’t think I learned a whole lot of new material. To be honest, I almost quit the book, but I am glad I finished it. She finished strong!

Koziarz was a quitter. She would promise more than she could deliver. She shares here many of her experiences as she gleaned lessons from the biblical book of Ruth and learned to stop quitting.

I did not find anything phenomenally new in this book. But there were some insights from Koziarz that I really appreciate. She suggests that adversity allows us to know ourselves in a new way. It is also an opportunity to allow God to show Himself in a new way. That is something I'll think about the next time it gets tough and I want to quit.

God worked slowly in Koziarz. We shouldn't expect any sudden and amazing change to be able to continue on rather than quit. The habits that she writes about might take a lifetime to incorporate.

Perhaps the hardest part of not quitting is not acting based on our feelings. Koziarz encourages us to stick to our commitments, regardless of our feelings. I couldn't help but wonder if sometimes our feelings might be spiritual in nature, telling us that we should quit what we've gotten ourselves into. That was something Koziarz did not address.

I recommend this book to readers who love to have teaching surrounded with lots of author stories. There are a few questions at the end of each chapter to help cement the ideas taught. I think this book would be best read with a good friend or in a trusted group. Having someone else along to help work through the concepts would be a good idea. Koziarz has also included Scripture to help readers confess positive promises in their journey.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

I have read “5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit” three times over and thoroughly enjoyed it every time. It is Nicki Koziarz’s first book but you wouldn’t know it! She is beautifully honest, steeped in Biblical wisdom and wonderfully practical.

At it’s centre is the Book of Ruth. Nicki uses it to illustrate 5 habits to live out:

Habit One: She accepts the assignment of refinement. 
Habit Two: She follows through with her commitments despite how she feels. 
Habit Three: She stays open to the movement of God. 
Habit Four: She gives others what she needs. 
Habit Five: She moves forward in faith.
Each chapter shares a story from Nicki’s life, unpacks a part of the Biblical journey the women of Ruth go on and shares practical ways to live out the wisdom shared by these fascinating women.

“But I believe how we walk through the assignment of refinement may determine our next assignment. I became really challenged by this idea one day when I read: For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. (Rom. 8:18)“ - From “5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit”by Nicki Koziarz

It is an easy but impactful read. Nicki has a wonderful sense of humour but also a great empathy for the challenges we all endure in life. If you are looking for a Bible study for a time such as this, I highly recommend this one! It is a five out of five on the enJOYment scale!

[4.5] I really enjoyed reading this book. While some of her personal stories were a bit distracting, I loved the greater message and the juxtaposing of Ruth's story as the benchmark from where she gathered the habits. I also really enjoyed being challenged at the end of every chapter and throughout the book with questions that made me take a closer look at my own life and judge where I stood in implementing these habits into my regimen. As a woman that has a habit of quitting when things get tough, I was encouraged by this book to really look at myself and those patterns in favor of instilling the five habits of a women that doesn't quit. Full of many great nuggets of wisdom and principles!

Read this book with friends thinking it would be a Bible study on Ruth. The author’s interpretation of Ruth at times felt like a stretch to me. I read this book for the nuggets it contained but sorry I did not enjoy it.

Just not my cup of tea. I didn’t see the real connection between the chapters and Ruth. Not a great deal of study on the story of Ruth at all.

There were a lot of spiritual truths packed into a relatively short book. I loved how the author used the story of Ruth to show a Biblical example of not quitting. Although I couldn't relate to every one of her personal stories, I could relate to quitting or wanting to quit different things in my life. I enjoyed listening to this book, but think it would have been better in hard copy version so I could see the 5 habits in writing as well as the Bible verses for not quitting.

Five Habits of a woman Who Doesn't Quit by Nicki Koziarz provides motivation and practical application. My favorite quote from the book was a committed woman learns to choose what she wants most over what she wants now. The book delivers practical application and biblical support. Mikki took the story of Ruth and Identified five habits that we can apply today.
Habit 1 - she accepts the assignment of refinement Nikki considers an assignment of refinement a situation where we are given the opportunity to grow through it or go through it. Sometimes in these situations we take our focus off God and live in fear and anxiety. As a result we don’t see what God is trying to do.
Habit 2 - She follows through with her commitments.
Nikki reminds of to not let our emotions and feelings dictate our actions. Faith is holding in there even when you don’t know what is going to happen.
Habit 3 - She remains open to the movement of God. Nikki shares the difference in surrender and humility. This really hit me. Humility is being ok that the only one who sees your obedience may be God. Sometimes when something is really hard I want to say, hey did you see what I did or what I didn’t say.
Nikki also shares what she calls See Over prayers and that they can be downloaded from her website. They include our problem and God’s promises.
Habit 4 - She gives others what she needs
Habit 5 - She moves forward in faith

I would recommend this book for any woman wanting some motivation to not quit.

I absolutely love this book! The author offers wisdom, wit and an open, tender heart with her readers. This book is PERFECT for all of us who feel worn out by trying to keep up with our dreams of the future, hurts from the past and expectations from those around us. I highly recommend it to any woman who wants to fully show up in her life, lean into her passions and keep moving forward into a wonderful future.

I am reviewing a copy of 5 Habits Of A Woman Who Doesn't Quit through B&H Books and Netgalley:

In this book we are reminded that taking our agenda to God and asking him to bless it, is dangerous. The author points out too that sometimes discouragement is brought on by our own disobedience.

This book points out that a committed woman learns to choose what she wants most over what she wants now. We are reminded too that opposition is always a way for God to reveal himself. The author points out too that Victory is often found in the most unfamiliar and uncomfortable places.

We are reminded that we often discount what God is doing because we are determined to go our way, and that can lead to disaster.

The author points out too that desperate situations can either bring us closer to God, or pull us away. We are reminded too that God is not a puppet master he gave us freewill to choose our own path.

The author points out too that with God what seems impossible is often the peak of a miracle. And that we should not let momentary feelings forfeit our faithfulness. We are reminded too not to let our feelings dictate our days.

The author points out too that emotional generosity is one of the hardest forms of kindness to give. The author points out too that quitting quickly follows complicated situations, and that there is times when we need to wait as hard as it is. We are reminded too that God wants us to take the time to rest and refuel.

I give 5 Habits Of A Woman Who Doesn't Quit five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

I have to make a confession from the start. I nearly quit reading this book several times. Don't leave the review now. I didn't hate or even dislike the book. I think that it was the fact that it hit me where I am. I mean that with my whole heart.

I liked how Nicki related the truths from her own life and those of Ruth from the Bible. You may be thinking that you have heard the story of Ruth told in about every way possible, and that nothing new can come of it. I thought that too at first, I just didn't see it being that likely to happen. However, it did.

Nicki brings to light habits that Ruth may have not even known that she was showcasing. From her journey and perseverance we can have encouragement and from someone who has lived this life.

I am glad that I did not quit on this book. I have hopes that it will help me to keep pushing on. Because YES this life is going to be tough at times. We may get knocked down by the daily grind and it may try to even run us over. We have to get back up though. Even though it would be easier and feel better (we think) to just lay there and wallow and fret and just not try, we have to keep on keeping on. People will reject us. Things won't always go as we hope. We have a God though that has seen this story play out so many times before, we wants us to NOT QUIT.
We can do this, sisters!!!

I gave this book 5 stars.

Before picking up this book, I had decided to stop doing Book Talks. I didn’t think anyone was noticing them at all. I started the first chapter and no kidding, some of you started commenting on Facebook and YouTube and I realized that many WERE watching and wanting to know more about books I am suggesting and reading! So, thank you to all of you who have commented!

I do tend to quit when things get hard, so this was a good book for me. I learned these habits that would help me keep going even when I get discouraged or frustrated.

I loved reading the blog that goes along with this book and there is also a “Weekly Lowdown” that has things that make you think even more about the chapters you have read and give you encouragement to keep reading. There is a video each week and even a coach to help you keep going. I’ll leave the link to sign up for this in the comment section.

If you need a little encouragement to keep going on a goal or project you don’t feel like completing, this is the book for you!

This isn't a book that would have captured my attention to read. I just find a strong self-determination within myself that I didn't think I struggled with quiting. I'm thankful for my friend who dropped off this book and that I stuck with it despite not finding it very relatable. The reality is that I have quit things before and the temptation to do things in my own strength is a habit I'm learning to break.

*spoiler alert* The 5 Habits are: 1) Accept the assignment of refinement. 2) Follow through with your commitments despite how you feel. 3) Stay open to the movement of God. 4) Give others what you need. 5) Move forward in faith.

This read was a reminder to go to God when things are hard. Because life will get hard if it isn't already. But what is hard for you is not hard for God. Live by those habits and you're golden!

A great source of spiritual encouragement to push through uncomfortable feelings to finish the commitments and goals you have set for yourself in your life. I love that Nicki Koziarz was honest about her failings and her past was able to become a testimony in the form of this book. The biblical story of Ruth is scriptural backbone of this book and it's inspiring to reread her story with the insight Nicki gives of a woman who doesn't quit. I am sure to return to this book again when I need to be encouraged not to quit the purposes and plans God has put on my life. A quick, easy read overall that I found enjoyable.

The author is very open, genuine, and has a great sense of humor about her life and when things get hard that she tends to withdraw or quit (Quitzilla). Five habits: she accepts the assignment of refinement, she follows through with her commitments despite how she feels, she stays open to the movement of God, she gives others what she needs, and she moves forward in faith. This was a realistic eye opener to many challenges we facts as Christians. This book motivates us not to quit and references Ruth and her perseverance when leaving Moab to moves to Jerusalem with her mother in law Naomi. Can’t wait for her next book!

Okay, so this book made me uncomfortable but it was so good! I read the first chapter and I thought to myself, “wow Nicki is calling me out. I don’t know if I want to read this anymore.” But I didn’t quit, I pushed through, I took notes, I answered the questions, and I realized that I needed this book! It came into my life at the exact time I needed it! The way she explains her thoughts with the verses is wonder! I love the way she tells the story of Ruth and Naomi and it makes the story come to life. This is such a good read! I would highly recommend it especially if you are struggling with sticking to your commitments!

This book is amazing. I joined a group of ladies that were reading this, and drug my feet about starting it. Then, I did manage to read chapter one, but my group of ladies and long left me in the dust. So, it was SOOOO good, that I started another group of friends, and led them in it.

AMAZING, just amazing. I have quenched my thirst on every word in this book, and will recommend it to EVERY person that I encounter that may have a need of encouragement. Being in a repetative quitting cycle is so hard to get out of, and I just love Nicki's look at this subject, and her real experiences and not only breathtaking but encouraging!

I think this is a good book to help you stick through things you want to quit by leaning heavily on God and remembering to ASK for His help. Reading this book made me realize I don't really have a quitting problem. Perhaps I am not taking on the right challenges if I'm never considering quitting them, I don't know! Maybe I'm not sympathetic enough to people who DO tend to quit things more easily. This book gave me some insight as to how quitting looms over some people and makes their commitments increasingly less attractive to them. It's good to have a better understanding.

SOOOO good! I'm a total quitter! I felt like I was in good company when Nicki quickly admitted she has always been a quitter too! She guided me through biblical reasoning why quitting is not always to answer. I practice her guide to "not quitting" every time I feel like giving up on something, again! Sometime, she explains, we need to quit but so much more often we need to see things through!
Thank you for this awesome encouragement Nicki! This was a message I didn't even realize I needed and desperately wanted to hear!

We often think we need to read books by "experts" at being good at what we want to be good at. In this instance, the best thing is to read about someone who is going about the same journey - it feels real, not preachy, and honest. Brutally honest. Leading the life with faith, not quitting when things are hard or seem impossible or are just not fun, growing in the faith that God wants more for us than our current circumstances BUT it takes our effort to keep moving forward and our faith in His goodness to realize His plan. I'll be revisiting this book again and again.

I read this book as part of a women's bible study group. We would read the chapter together and discuss the main points and answer the questions at the end of each chapter. I thought it was set up very nicely to be used in that way. Overall it was a great way to take a deeper look from a different perspective at the book of Ruth. Very enjoyable and has helped me identify where I have some areas to improve.
