3.5 stars rounded up.
I'm torn on my review for this book since it was so VERY similar to a book I have on my 5 star shelf: Grim by MK Eidem.

A lot of the plot devices from Grim were used in this story.

Heroine is a widow with a young girl to take care of.
Alien world has very low female population & they kidnap 12 human women from earth for a 'breeding program' to test repopulation.

Megan is a Military widow visiting her husband's grave when she and her daughter are kidnapped by two aliens.

There is a romance with an alien whose eyes are opened by Megan to the atrocious treatment women receive in their society.

Megan is also kind of a badass with multiple martial-arts training. She kicks quite a few aliens butts.

Megan has some allies on her team aside from her love interest Reijo. She also makes a psychic connection to some fierce predator cats on the alien world who become her protectors.

The villains in this story are a clan amongst the aliens who want to become the ruling family. They have no regard for women, only seeing them as possessions to be used and traded.

An impending civil war is in the near future between those who want to treat women as equals with free will and those who want to kidnap more human woman to use as commodities.

Ending is HFN

Self published or vanity press. And unfortunately it's crystal clear. There's a good story somewhere in the book. And a good editor might have helped its birth.

As it is, you have a very Mary Suish heroine, able to do everything and survive worse. She's a catalyst for a change both in the alien camp and her own. And maybe with a different set it might have been possible without seeming preposterous.

There's not much freshness, again a dying race kidnapping women from Earth, even if at least this time they fight back. Of course the alien aren't such a bad people. and the heroine shags one day 3 after her arrival, even with her daughter's life in the balance and knowing this wonderful people though nothing about enslaving them. (Yes, it's sarcasm. :)

It's easily (and pleasantly) read, but it's flat, no real surprises, all of the cliché you can think of. A few proofreading mistakes, and some more serious an editor should have caught.

If you have unlimited, it might be a book that's not too bad. Otherwise, at 5 bucks it's a ripoff, sorry.

This is a good story, at least 4 stars. Unfortunately, the author's failure to have it edited and proofread left me exasperated while reading this hot mess. It's truly BAD!!! Good story presented poorly... minus 1 star. It's a shame, really. I should have taken off 2 stars, but it's a 4 star story.

DNF

I was excited to read this with all the great reviews. Sadly I was disappointed.

At first I was concerned because it was a rehash of Grim by MK Eidem. Then the heroine started beating up the aliens and I winced. Along the way what I thought were a few typos that I could dismiss became worse. The editing is so bad I had to stop at 12% and read something else. The author can't decide between past or present tense-even in the same sentence!

I borrowed this from Kindle unlimited and am glad to return it. Maybe if it is republished after editing I will try again.

Good read even if not original

The second half of this book was really really good and showed imaginative writing. I gave this 3 stars instead of the 5 it would have gotten if the 1st half had been based on an original premise. The story outline is Grim. The names and confrontation have been changed but the premise is not original. These changes show real imagination from the author and hopefully will be applied in her next book.

Pretty bad

Talk about a mash up of every sci fi/fantasy romance book from the last 5 years. Supposedly hot alpha aliens (bronze with blue eyes), shape shifters, dying male race, bonding, psychic communication... Bizarrely petite h with an Amazonian personality that was completely unbelievable. It was just too much. The author should have picked maybe one or two thoughts and worked on developing the romance more because there was very little relationship building between the H/h just insta love with no reason why other than hotness... You can tell the author is probably a fan of the brides of kindred, grim style books.

I really enjoyed this book, at a time when I would probably hate even my favorite authors. Book slumps don't kill people, they kill souls. This book could have used an editor, at a few points I found the errors distracting but the story was enough to read on. Half of me didn't like that the heroine was so good at everything the other half was cheering on both human and woman-kind. Entertaining read, I'd check out a sequel.

2.5 Stars Tries Too Hard

Warrior (Vukasin Saga Book 1) by B.N. Snowden is a science fiction romance with the breeder plot in dominance. What is a breeder plot? They center around a dying race, usually the female population has been reduced to a negliable number, meaning a glut of males with a very low population birth rate. The beefy sexy male aliens go out into space looking for genetically compatible females to have babies with. They normally stumble across the backwater planet called earth and earth gals are able to make babies with these alien studs. Which in turn leads to random kidnaping of earth girls to be used as breeding stock. Some of these books are more erotic in nature that others, depending on the author. I am always perplexed that these aliens that can travel across glaxies and have advanced tech have not put their science into creating artificial wombs. In simple terms the aliens are the bisons of the American West and we earth girls are the cows that were breed to the bison population to save them from extension. You don't get a full blooded Bison, but it is damned close. LOL. Another example is China's one child rule, everyone wanted boys as boys take care of the elderly in Chinese cultures. Well China now has a huge population on men and a declining population of vagina carrying humans. Guess what universe with out vaginas there is NO FUTURE!!

Now to the book, the first pages are very similar to Grim by M.K. Eidem, which made me feel like I had read this book before, as the capture of the human female in both books take place in a cemetery and no 'male' sent is detected on the female, as the women are widows.

During the course of the story we find out that human females were not the first woman used as breeders. This planet has history of capturing and using females the previous abductees are kept as sexual slaves. Wow such honorable moralistic men. Hey sweetie you didn't work out as genetic material but you can now be a brothel worker. Because gods forbid we can't use our hands for sexual relief. Hmmmm.... Aliens asshats. In other books of this nature the native population of woman have been revered, no so in Snowden's world they are just as ill used as the captured females passed from male to male as breeding stock.

The heroine Megan didn't really work for me as a reader. She is a military widow. Having grown up as a rough and tumble but feminine girl, I can actually see myself as a Megan type, up until she get shot. Hmmm... No one not even a combat veteran would fluff off getting shot as Megan does. This is just one example of why I couldn't rate this book higher than I did. The second is Megan recounting her gang rape and the proceeding to have sex with Reijo. Nope not going to happen. No sexual abuse survivor is initiating sex after the recounting of a rape and beating, no real persons psyche is that compartmentalized.

The author tried too hard to make Megan a superhero type character, which made the story unbelievable. I kept picturing Boudicca, because that is how mythical Megan was as a character. I think if the character would have been in the military, I could have believed her responses. Megan studying martial arts and doing survival training with her family, doesn't make her ready for a true combat situation, only having experience combat do you know how to react when faced with it.

Then the book spirals into more politics, ancient alien experiments and woman power. The authors has potential if she had an editor that told her to pick a plot and stick to it.

To enjoy this book a reader needs to suspend belief, as it tried too hard to be everything.

Good read.

I really enjoyed this book. It started off on Earth where Megan and her daughter get captured and taken to an Alien planet, a planet that women are dying off leaving the population in jeopardy of extinction. They kidnap women in hopes of breeding them with every clan. Megan is definitely not what they expected a woman to be. She's a survivor, a warrior that will do anything to protect her daughter. She makes them question themselves and their lack of love and compassion for women.

* With some editing this book is definitely a five star read.

What a great story!

Aside from a few grammatical errors, this was a terrific story. Ms. Snowdon if you are reading this, I do hope that this is a series and you are working on book 2. I love how the characters have their own distinct personalities and how they are interwoven into the storyline. I love science fiction romances and this story was right for me. It had intrigue, suspense, romance, humor, I could go on and on. As you can see, I love the story. Here's hoping Book 2 is out soon

I really liked this book. A woman is kidnapped and transported to another planet with her 5 year old daughter to be entered into a breeding program to help a dying population. But all women on this planet are essentially slaves to these men who have forgot their past. That is just the beginning because this story turns into much more. This woman becomes a warrior to protect hers and her fellow female humans. She goes through the fire to jump start a revolution that is the beginning of a true epic story. I loved it!

After reading this book, it is obvious this will be an amazing series. This particular story provided all that was needed to further the storyline in future books while it kept my attention from beginning to end. I enjoyed that not only was their a strong alpha males but the main heroine was Megan, a single widowed mother. It is a reminder that two halves make a stronger whole. What a rocking female. Great read, can't wait to see what is next.

Fantastic book!

This book was absolutely amazing! The story had everything; romance, action, suspense, and comedy! I can't wait for the next one! Please let there be a next one. So many of the supporting characters are begging to have their own story. Please keep up the great work!

I liked it

I liked it I just wish that there was more in the epilogue to give us a little more go on as it seems there will be a part 2 to this story which makes me happy. At least I'm hoping for a second story. I hate that one of the villains got away and 2 of the women are still missing but I guess that will be covered in part 2 as well.
Well done B. D. Snowden well done.

Lovely

I absolutely loved the strength that Came out of all the female characters. Reijo was definitely a great hero. Males needing females and kidnapping them are a great plot. I thought this story is an impressive stepping stone and I can't wait to read more.

While I did manage to complete this book I never really got pulled into the story. It just felt like numerous other alien romances I've read. the characters all felt generic. At least it was offered as a kindleunlimited.

Two Stars in the Vukasin Sky

If you liked Grim by M.K. Eidem, but wanted a heroine with more martial arts prowess and less maternal qualities, look no further!

No joke, this was a disappointing and less enjoyable version of Eidem's Grim. I loved Grim so when I saw another sci-fi novel about a mother kidnapped by aliens, I was excited.

I can't say I was pleasantly surprised when the story starts out exactly the same way. Human woman in graveyard mourning dead husband (only change being this heroine brought her daughter). I got a bit more intrigued when it turned out the heroine, Megan O'Connor, is a major badass and takes out over six alien warriors (also giant werewolves?) in an attempt to escape with her daughter. As we find out the politics involved in kidnapping Earth women, I was ready for Megan to show the aliens the value of the females and create a home with her daughter, alien lover, and new giant house cats (admittedly very cool).

This was not at all what happened.

First, besides occasionally coming up (usually just in discussion and not in person), Megan's daughter is almost AWOL. She is supposedly off learning and what not but even Megan seems to forget about her ().

Second, Megan becomes a combination of Rambo and Lara Croft going off on a symbolic warrior journey through the jungle to prove her value for a large portion of the book. There is no bonding with other characters or building a life on her new planet. There may be political reasons for this but it wasn't correctly developed to me.

Third,

The romance was undeveloped. The main characters were lacking. Overall, I feel like Snowden read a lot of popular science fiction romances and picked what she liked best. The set-up of Grim but with a more badass female.

Only two stars because I managed to get through it and the first half wasn't totally terrible.

I actually did like the plot. Love a kick ass woman, but the book just didn’t flow properly. It’s like the author was trying to be too ambitious, but didn’t give herself enough room to do so properly. The series isn’t even finished & from what I read of the blurbs of the books that are out, they don’t even seem to revolve around the revolution. So it’s a no for me on moving forward with the series. Well unless it pops up on kindle unlimited- then maybe.

It was ok, took me longer to get through than my regular reading speed bc the writing was a bit formal and i hate politics so all that stuff bored me. I mean the book was good, the storyline was good, obviously a bit cliche and no real surprises bc you can kinda see which direction this type of story is headed. The heroine was strong, like the hero, their bond was lovely. But it isnt a book id say is amazing or one that would make me want to read the next one.

This book was fucking AWESOME!
I’m not even messing around. I loovvveedddd that it had such a strong female lead while at the same time not taking away from the male lead. I gotta be honest with you all; this is one of the best books I’ve ever read and I don’t just mean from this genre...I mean overall. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more from this author.

FIVE FREAKING STARS!!!!!

I enjoyed this book. It has been said by other reviewers that this resembles Grim by M. K. Ediem- I found just some surface details similar only at the beginning. This is a completely different story. I’ve read both. I love the inclusion of the animals in the story. I plan to read book 2 ASAP. Sci-Fi Alien Romance lovers this is just for you!

A great adventure!!! I was afraid this book was going to follow the typical storyline of the alien dying world needed compatible women to survive but I Was pleasantly surprised by the writing and the characters. Megan is an amazing woman. Strong, fierce protective and determine, she will fight for her and her daughter's freedom. She goes against the entire society to change their culture and to ensure a better future.
Reijo is the 2nd most important man of the government (even we don't really know what his job actually is). He immediately falls for Megan and is as quickly enchanted by Abby. He fights for them, going against his own society to claim and protect his women. He was a great alpha protector and I hope the both of them will still have an important role in the next book.
My favorite part was the shape shifting and the bond Megan had with the ghost lion. This made it a unique story :) I hope we see more of the amazing animals representing each clan soon.

Good story ...Horrible editing

For the most part this was a very good story. I like the characters as they were well written and pretty well defined. Has similar storyline to several stories of this genre that I've read recently … Alien species whose women are dying out for some reason who turn to earth women to replenish their population. In spite of that fact it was still an interesting and slightly new take on this well-used concept. I did notice that there are a lot of grammatical errors as well as editing errors and typos. Also, simple misspellings such as scared where the word should be sacred.... Please get a better proofreader for the second book.

Warrior

I read and reviewed this book when it first came out. I have re-read this series several times and I have been hoping for the continuation of this series to finally come out. I love all the characters in this series. Megan is the first and she is the one who captured my attention. The overall storyline is what kept my attention. I was truly invested in this storyline and was really hoping to read until the conclusion. Each book ended with its own HEA but like I said the overall storyline is not complete. I would highly recommend this series and continue to hope for the next.

There were some parts that was to dry for me. To much to observe and take in. There were those past/present tenses and mixed words in sentences that made me confused about what author wanted to say. But in all it wasn't a bad story. I finished it and that says something.

I liked h. She was strong and a fighter. Liked the H, too. Though, I had to say h overshadowed him. It's rare in the book, that h does all the work and H is like a supportive character.

Looking forward to the next story in this series

Like another reader mentioned, the beginning of this story was reminiscent of Grim, but as I kept on reading, the storyline pulled me in and I had a hard time putting the book down. I can't wait to see how things progress in the next books.
