This story had potential in the beginning, but climaxed way too quickly and was downhill, boring and just plain awful after that. I got to the point where I just started skimming through the meaningless dialogue.
Donna a former model has quit the business and return to her hometown. She is working as a nurse companion and is assigned to the mother of former NBA player Marcus Wellington. The mothers scheme (I think) to get these two talking, but Donna doesn’t want to in her mind. But her body reacts favorable and in opposition of what her mind and mouth says. Marcus is equally attracted to her and he just can’t let her be.
I was disappointed that curse words were included-thankfully just a few. I’m still confused if Marcus accepted Christ personally and Donna just overlooked him being a non-practicing man. I didn’t get that clarity. But it’s a read worth considering!
I enjoyed this book and my favorite message was that the character, "Donna" held to her principles and morality and "Marcus" started to read the bible and pray more too.
The title and the cover of this book alone really caught my attention. The characters were very real and convincing. Occasionally we need to step back and allow God to take over. We all may go through a heartbreak or grief over the loss of the love of our life, but that does not escape the fact that life has a way of giving us another chance. Sometimes that second chance we received is really the first one. The hypothetical first one was just a smoke screen. God puts people in our path. They either bring us up or bring us down. Whatever they decide to do, it should be a lesson for us to learn. For Donna, God put Marcus toward her path as a positive lesson for her to learn so she won't let a negative lessons that she experienced sidetrack from the positive ones. It is time for us to explore our feelings and let God direct our paths. This is definitely a marvelous story of finding true love and second chances of love. I always enjoy a good romance story with a theme of Christian values and this one did not dissatisfy for me. The summary in the messages of "Second Chances" that Shannon Gardener wants the readers to know that God beyond doubt really has a plan and it worked out without a doubt for Marcus and Donna. They experience a lot of trials and tribulations but in the end it was truly worth it to both of them. A truly lovely story about second chances.
For me this was a quick, "OK read" about a Christian couple who after the formula back and forth, find love, family and happiness. The writing is young and a little too descriptive and detailed for my taste but the writer is promising. This is one of the times that I felt the Christian theme was not as seamlessly woven into the story as it could be. Editing with this in mind should help particularly since this is also a sensual novel. These two genre can mix but it did not quite fit for me in this one. I am not sure why however. Still I liked to the story so read and form your own opinion.
Wonderful story of love and trust. Donna had lost her fiance in a car accident. When he died she learned a lot about him, his affairs and his "Baby Mamas", she left modeling, moved in with her mother and got involved in her church. Marcus Wellington retired basketball player, saw Donna and was instantly in love. She did not want anything to do with him but he was persistent. Sometimes we need to step aside and let God take over. Wonderful story of finding true love. Hot Sex after marriage.
I score this book a 5 ..It kept my attention and it was a good love story...This book shows that no matter how tragic loss of a relationship can be...God has better days ahead for us ...We must never give up on finding the true love of our lives...There was only one thing that about this book that stunned me...This is a religion book but it was very sexual graphic....I recommend this story to anyone who is struggling after a bad relationship ...
I truly enjoyed this love story. Donna was a top model in a relationship but only to find out after the car accident that toke his life that he was not faithful to her. Donna put up a wall and did not want to ever be in a relationship again. Marcus a former football fell in love with Donna the first time he saw her. Donna would not give Marcus the time of day. Marcus wanted Donna to give her a chance, he promised not to hurt her. Wait on the Lord….
Everybody needs a second chance in life . Thank God for praying mothers who are willing to put knees and hearts on the line for their children. I enjoyed this story immensely.
I can't call this book Christian fiction with such explicit details of sex as nd some cussing. What the difference from a secular book? Oh they threw in some Christian terms. I gave it one star because it was good in the beginning.
The book was just okay. No real plot and the flow was not that great. I'm not sure if the book was edited or not but it had a lot of grammatical errors that took away from the book. It was a good story line though.
What a friend we have in Jesus! A beautiful love story rooted in the church and showing off the power of prayer and commitment to your faith. Great read.
I did not find this book all that interesting. I skimmed through most of it, reading one sentence from each page and I can still tell you what happened.
