There’s an extreme heat wave at River’s Sigh B & B, but things have never been colder between Noelle Archer and her husband Cade.

Dragged there for a reunion with Cade’s screwed up family, Noelle is confused, resentful—and considering divorce.

Noelle never would’ve predicted she’d be trapped in a loveless marriage, but Cade’s more distant and aloof than ever, plus she’s sure he had an affair. What other choice does she have? Husbands who cheat don’t become faithful, and wives who put up with it become bitter and lonely. She won’t have that for herself, and she won’t model that for her children.

Cade has always clung tightly to Noelle, his beloved daughters, and their life together. He’s not good at expressing himself, but he’s been confident, even cocky, that if he’s strong enough, works hard enough, provides well enough, Noelle will know how he feels. But now one moment of stupidity that wasn’t what it appeared has wrecked everything. He wants her to believe in him the way his parents and brothers never have, with no explanations necessary—but maybe that’s unfair.

He’ll swallow his pride. He’ll find the words. He’ll do anything to fix their relationship. But what if it’s too late? Can shattered love ever be restored?

I liked and hated this book all at the same time. I hate cheating , and yes what he did was cheating, but I never really understood why or what exactly happened. It just seemed off. Why didn't he just tell her everything at the time? So the premise of the story is this couple whose marriage is falling apart embark on a 'last' family vacation. The h having caught him in the act making out with his PA in his office after having some drinks wants to separate. He does not because he really didn't cheat in his opinion and he really loves his wife. He thinks just being himself and showing her He loves her will convince her that he never strayed. But honestly he just needed to tell her what happened and talk it out with her. She should have hit him with a baseball bat repeatedly and walk away. As for the PA, if that were my husband, her body would never be found. But I digress. Lots of internal monologue, lack of self esteem and family drama fill the pages of this book. His lame letter at the end just pissed me off. He also got up on the stage and made an ass of himself just to show her how much He loved her. I just needed more I guess. More grovelling, more atonement, more closure. I think he loved her but there was just something missing. I will read this author again too. The plotline in this book wasn't for me but the authors writing skills kept me engrossed in the story.

4/23/2019

Read it again and he is a freaking loser. He says his PA was a little too friendly and he was getting ready to go to sleep and it was just kissing and THAT IS ALL, in other words, IT WAS NOTHING, and she accepted his POS freaking excuse and I just wanted to vomit because that was not right. Kissing is cheating and he said it was NOTHING?!!??? I hate this book and I am so disappointed that he didn't even grovel! I bet if she was just 'kissing' her coffee guy he wouldn't be okay with that but she never even challenges him on why 'kissing' his slutty PA with her skimpy ass clothes 'was nothing'!!! What if she didn't show up there??? What would have happened???? Stupid loser cheater!!! And he never explains why it wasn't cheating and why he did it??? I just reread it and I cried really freaking hard, threw my Kindle against my bedroom wall and am waiting for my husband to fall asleep so I can pepper spray him, BenGay certain body parts and pray his penis falls off and I will never read this crap again. Oh and I will never ever wear Spanks even if I break the 200 pound plus mark EVER!!! The heroine wears those!

In other words this is not, and I mean NOT, a book I would ever recommend even if it was the only book published in the world. Just saying.... DEATH to CHEATERS. 😇 pray for my husband!! 🙊🙈🙉 the BenGay is taking effect. 😋

Isn’t it hard to stand by and watch a couple with several years of marriage under their belt slowly fall apart? Mistakes are made, miscommunication or lack of communication runs rampant until everyone has their walls built so high, nothing will break through. Ev Bishop’s Spoons is the story of Noelle and Cade, who are caught up in the self-protection mode of marital troubles.

With everyone so happy around them and their beautiful children to think about, each mentally becomes completely honest about their feelings, but fail to take a chance on exposing their raw emotions. Will the love that permeates the River’s Sigh B&B, and a deep-seated loyalty to each other expose their innermost hearts and souls and re-build the relationship they once knew or will it open their eyes to believing separating is the answer for true happiness? Someone must swallow their pride and someone must give them a reason to…

Ev Bishop’s Spoons is a gut wrenching tale of love, shattered and hearts broken while other relationships flourish. How debilitating for those who flounder, but the secrets and sins and confessions Noelle and Cade keep within are their real enemy. Two completely believable characters, flaws, insecurities and all make them riveting to watch. A sweet romantic tale that proves the journey to the end result, no matter what it is holds a lesson in its pages. Definitely Chick Lit, definitely quick and still, thoughtfully handled while still entertaining by the author, Ev Bishop!

I received an ARC edition from Ev Bishop in exchange for my honest review. We have no personal or professional connections.

Oh, wow! This book was an emotional surprise! Spoons is the latest of the River's Sigh Bed and Breakfast stories. Ev Bishop has added another hurting couple to her interesting cast of characters from this heartwarming series. Ev always explores difficulties in relationships with great insight. Cade and Noelle's problems are not new, but the journey to their self discovery gives you much to think about. Enjoyable and thought provoking! I am already looking forward to the next in the series.

When I was given a copy of Spoons in exchange for an honest review I wasn't sure I'd like it and was concerned that I wouldn't be able to give a positive review. I sure was wrong. I LOVED it!

It starts with Noelle asking Cade for a divorce believing he didn't love her any more. What else was she to think when she walked into his office to find him kissing Sherry? Before legal action could be taken they went away for 3 weeks to a family event being held at River's Sigh B & B which was owned by Cade's family. They agreed to act like nothing was wrong while they were there.

After being married for 11 years, it was very hard for Noelle to call it quits especially when she still loved her husband. But Cade wouldn't talk to her about his feelings so she believed he didn't love or like her any more. Cade thought she should just KNOW how he felt without him telling her. Misunderstandings and lack of communication are pretty common in marriages but this was pretty extreme.

This story is so well written you can feel this couple's pain. I kept wanting to fix it for them and wish I could have told them, "Just talk to each other." This is a hard story to read and very emotional but very good. Anyone who has been in a relationship and can understand the problems that come up, would like this book.

I so admire this author and I loved this beautifully written and emotion filled character study of a couple on the verge of separation after 11 years of marriage. Noelle is hurt and totally disillusioned with her life when careers, parenting and a huge misunderstanding leave her determined to separate from her husband. Cade desperately loves his wife and their two daughters but he is dreadfully lousy at communication. He doesn't understand why he needs to tell Noelle how he feels. Sound familiar? I totally empathized with this confused and angry couple, and their bumpy road back to each other truly touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. River's Sigh is a lovely small town setting, and I so enjoyed revisiting the couples I met in the first two books in this must-read series. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The pain between Cade and Noelle is raw and you can feel it as you read this story. They have been married, but stopped communication, then there was Sherry, and now Noelle has asked for a separation. So out of desperation Cade wants them to spend the month at his brother's B & B.In hopes of fixing his marriage, but he keeps running away and not talking. Noelle can't let go of what she saw in Cade's office, plus she feels like he doesn't even like her anymore.
This book is so emotional, you see their love, get frustrated that they won't just talk to each other and you are hopeful they will figure it out. Once I started reading, I couldn't get put it down. It was so sweet and heartfelt. This entire series is a great read. Every single book is well written and so enjoyable. This would be a great weekend read. I totally recommend it.

Not a typical romance novel. This couple is married and their marriage has hit some had times. Can they work it out? Can they get past the hurt? You'll have to read it to find out!!! Great book I thoroughly enjoyed it. All the crew from the previous books are in here. I enjoy so much getting a peek at their lives in each book after their story. You don't have to read the first few books to enjoy this story but I would as they are all so good!

I absolutely Loved this book. Cade and Noelle is a married couple who are at a point that Noelle feels like their relationship is at an end. Cade has a family event that the go to with their daughters where he hopes to change Noelle's feelings. It is a wonderful story of how when you Love someone it takes work and communication and it is worth it you have a deeper appreciation for the important things in life. This to me was a true romance.

How has this couple's marriage survived til now? They have zero communication skills and act horribly towards each other. Noelle was an unhappy witch for the first half of the book. She doesn't like what her life has become and blames it all on her husband instead of taking any initiative to do anything about it. And Cade is just weird that he can't/won't talk to his wife about anything. A very odd couple that I couldn't decide if I was pulling for them to reunite or split up.

This is not a typical romance story. Instead of the usual new love, this is the story of two people who loved each other so much they married and started a family, yet still have a long way to go to understand each other and appreciate what they have. This is a really refreshing look at long term love and romance.

4.5/5.0

Although the subject matter is not a happy one - a couple about to divorce - the execution of all the reasons, emotions and heart-ache, as well as the hard struggle back to love is superbly written!

Needed more

I really never truly felt a connection with the characters within the book. What happened? How could they hate each other so intently? I get he was the strong silent type, but as a reader he was still too silent and quiet.

I love all of the River's Sigh B & B books, and this one was one of my favorites. I actually read this one some time ago and never got around to leaving a review. So I decided to re-read it and loved it just as much the second time around. It's heartbreaking to watch Noelle and Cade's marriage falling apart around them, especially when they have two little girls to raise. But a stay at River's Sigh for his parents' anniversary teaches them both to look not only at each other but inwardly to see that the problems with their marriage are much more than one thing, and the blame can't be taken by just one person.

All of the River's Sigh B & B stories have a wonderful and heartwarming HEA, and I especially love the ending to this one. The background characters are colorful and hold important parts in the reigniting of the couple's marriage and their realization that love is a jumping board that can lead to so many more beautiful things in their future. Every time I read one of the author's books, I want to move to River's Sigh and make my home there. I look forward to reading whatever she has in store next.

This is not a romance... but it is a love story. A nicely narrated one.

The story is slow throughout the book, and I wondered if the HEA would ever come. Noelle and Cade's backstory only came towards the very end, but the story wasn't drawn out. I did feel a little impatient at the beginning, though, because even their internal dialogues didn't reveal anything except misgivings and anger towards the other. I yelled a few times, "RESOLVE YOUR ISSUES!"

I read the two books before this one (enjoyed #1; #2 was all right) quite awhile ago, and I don't remember much about the parents, whose marriage renewal brings the family back to River's Sigh. I think a little history about them would have helped me understand Cade better since reference is made to how he may be affected by the way they - the father, especially - treat him.

This is a true-to-life reflection of what marriage can sometimes be. There were a number of touching scenes which made me cry, and the storytelling was really good.

The story was all over the place! Everything was skimmed over, then loops around then just.. Drops. The characters weren't just bland and boring, they were.. Non sense. They made no sense at all. Not the MCs, not the secondary characters, heck, not even the setting!

I could not picture the place and that is something I always look forward to in a book. I wanna be IN the story—I want to feel it.

And I felt nothing in this book.

Boredom maybe. But nothing good.

AT. ALL.

Unusual love story

Do we always read others correctly? Do we believe words don’t matter? Do we believe we don’t need true and honest friends? A very true to life story about keeping love strong. I won’t say “I enjoyed the story” but I will say that it is very true to life and my heart was caught up in their lives.
