Rate this book
Everyone has a past....Draya Mitchell knew that better than anyone. Estranged from her family and carrying on a seven-year affair with an abusive, married, church deacon, Damien, Draya, thought she would forever be second best until she stumbled upon the handsome new trainer at her gym, Liam. While Damien's hold on her was strong, Liam gave her a glimpse of what life could be like with a man of her own, and Draya finally gained the strength to end things with Damien for good.

While things are heating up and becoming serious between Liam and Draya, she quickly realizes just like her, he has a past to conceal, involving his gold-digging stepmother and the mysterious death of his father. While digging for answers, a vicious wrath is unleashed on Draya, but the only problem is, who is behind it? With Damien unwilling to throw in the towel and his wife, Deena, on her tail, Draya has to decide if the threats against her are because of her past, or if it's someone using her to get even with Liam.

As the betrayal and lies begin to mount, Draya has to decide if her new choice is worth it or just another mistake to add to her list.

A Kiss Before Lying was such an appropriate title for this book. Lies were rolling off of tongues like they were breathing! Draya held so much hurt that she let things spiral out of control in her life. I don't believe what she went through would have happened if her family hadn't alienated her for a decision to take over a family business. Damien and Deena, husband and wife, there is so much that can be said regarding their characters. Damien started his quest out for revenge but ended up falling in love after finding out that the children he thought he had fathered were not his. Deena hid all of her wrong doings by being a lady of the church. Not knowing that she was messing with the wrong person in more ways than one. I loved the friendship that Draya and Brittney had. Then comes Liam, the personal trainer Brittney had replace her for Draya. All of the characters have things in their past that they wish to keep there but as their lives begin to intertwine things start to spiral out of control. By the end of the story, you are left with your mouth hanging wide open when all the puzzle pieces are placed together to form the perfect picture.

A Page Turner!

Older man seduces and torments younger woman with severe daddy issues for diabolical reasons. Then hot young man comes into the scene and turns her world upside down, or really, right side up! Really enjoyed this book. Can't wait to read part two!

Aww suki, suki now...You know this book is going to be messy in good way when the lead female has a lot of drama she know she don't need in her life. The lead character in this book Draya Mitchell is involved with her father's former best friend, a married man and a deacon in her church name Damien. Draya and Damien have been involved for seven years, it has not been all roses and sunshine with these two. Draya has tried many times to walk away from Damien, but he keeps coming back like a bad rash she can't get rid of. One day she finally gets fed up and after years of abuse and the lies he told she shows him the door.

Draya's bestie Brittany introduces her to Liam (Draya's new trainer), since Brittany who is pregnant can no longer be her trainer due to her condition. Draya and Liam are attracted to one another, but do not give into their desire for each other until the night that Draya sprains her ankle. It looks like someone is out to get Draya as mishaps happen at her restaurant, with her car and looks like someone other than Draya, Liam and Rico have access to Draya's house.

What we don't see coming during the re-grand opening party is the reason why Damien push up so hard on Draya until the altercation between Draya's dad, Andrew and Damien and Draya see Damien's true dark colors. As Draya and Liam leave the party, the unthinkable happens.

Yes, this story has a cliffhanger....UGH!!! I can only hope that book 2 will keep the momentum going and be better than book 1.

Skye High!!!

Hash tag Boom...boom goes the dynamite....just plucked this diamond in the rough...and it took off with a bang..Draya is a young beautiful girl involved with a married man who is her first...I say that in the context of empathy...she wants out...knows it's wrong...but that's all she knows about adult sexual encounters...she puts up with his abuse and the guilt is slowly eating away at her soul..unbeknownst to her...her salvation comes in a form of Liam...a handsome hunky blue eyed personal trainer...he also has his baggage...but he is the most sweetest, nurturing, attentive romantic guy who wants her when she's ready....lurking in the background is his evil stepmother, her possessive ex and his crazy wife...and a whole family mess involving her family....I hope part 2 doesn't take forever...

A Kiss Before Lying

Lies were at an all time high throughout this read. What's crazy is Draya being caught up in something that started when she was younger. I didn't like Damien from the very beginning and by the time I reached the end I was so over him. Deena has some nerve! If she's behind everything she needs to accept the fact her actions played a role in everything as well. Liam seems like a good dude even though there's a side of him that won't hesitate to put someone in their place. He seemed to come in at the right time and help Draya realize the type of woman she really is. Alea really is suspect and I'm hoping she isn't on any craziness. Draya's family, especially her dad had me looking sideways. All of a sudden his intentions became clear but he waited a little too late. Hopefully part 2 will answer some more unanswered questions.

Escandalo!

That's the word that I would use to describe this book. I felt that there were too many subplots to this story. It really didn't need to have all these different twists all in one part of the book because it came across as a bit overwhelming for the reader. Liam is too good to be true. Draya seems to be a bit of an idiot and the cliffhanger of the book wasn't much of a cliffhanger because the writing was on the wall. Also, the villain of the book was incredibly obvious that it didn't need to be hidden to begin with.

I gave this book three stars because it takes guts to publish a book. There were barely any typos and it was fully fleshed out storyline with multifaceted characters. Going to read part 2 because I'm truly curious how this telenovela in book form ends.

Wow

That ending was everything. Lies, deception, and angst all tied together in revenge. So many players and so many suspects.
