Will she discover the truth before it's too late? Book 5.
Linda Chaikin is a Christian fiction author with a focus on historical fiction. She sometimes publishes using the name L.L. Chaikin.
Linda was the youngest of 10 children and her father died shortly after she was born. She wrote her first full-length novel with pen and paper at the age of 14 - this novel was later rewritten as Wednesday's Child, part of the Day to Remember series.
She met her husband, Steve, in a Bible study, and they were married 6 months later. They both went to Multnomah School for the Bible, now known as Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary in Portland, Oregon.
I didn't get into this right away, but after a while things got interesting, and I really enjoyed the mystery. I also liked the grace and love that Vanessa showed, as well as her reminding herself and others of Bible verses. The emphasis on God's sovereignty was good. There were some things I didn't like, though, such as the kissing. I'm of the mind that such things should most probably be saved until marriage, so I have this complaint with a lot of novels. Also, I didn't like the rather light view taken about engagement.
Set during air raids over England, American girl living in England is approached by a representative from her estranged father, a retired English actor who has had no contact with her since he divorced her mom when she and her brother were young. Asked to come to an island in Scotland, she finds several mysterious people, alienations, conversations, deaths, and an attempt on her life. Story goes on until the end when you find out the real reasons for all of the events - and who is the perpetrator.
Wordy
The summary on this website must be for another book because it does not fit what I read.....
Friday's child is loving and giving. Setting in London and Isle of Mull, Scotland as Nazi Germany threatens London in the summer of 1940. Vanessa receives an unexpected telegram from her estranged father Robert inviting her to Scotland.
Although set around WWII, Vanessa does not get involved in espionage as other character's in Chaikin's series have. I didn't like the ending as well as others.
