Linda Chaikin is a Christian fiction author with a focus on historical fiction. She sometimes publishes using the name L.L. Chaikin.
Linda was the youngest of 10 children and her father died shortly after she was born. She wrote her first full-length novel with pen and paper at the age of 14 - this novel was later rewritten as Wednesday's Child, part of the Day to Remember series.
She met her husband, Steve, in a Bible study, and they were married 6 months later. They both went to Multnomah School for the Bible, now known as Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary in Portland, Oregon.
This started off slow for me, but once we hit midway and Paulette made her way to Egypt, things picked up. She was a hard character for me to read and like. Her trust issues were deep even though I understand where she was coming from.
This book was a struggle at the beginning but did pick up and get better for me. I struggled to like the protagonist. She didn't strike me as intelligent or street smart. The character seemed to believe everyone and was easily duped. She was unsure of herself and came across as foolish.
This series is good, although some of the books are so formulaic that they start to all sound similar by the time you have read the fifth one... still I wish there were a Saturday and Sunday's child books to finish out the "week".
Set in 1940. Paulette's quick marriage to Garret Brandt brings mystery and adventure. "Thursday's child has far to go" Enjoying this series because it is different. It is not following the same characters from book to book but is set around the historical setting of WWII.
This book took me a while to read, because it took me a while to actually start enjoying it. But about half way through I actually started to really like it, and I wish that it would've been a little longer.
Another wonderful book by Linda. All her books are so different, and still all so awesome. This book is an historical book with a subtle but powerful message about trust.
