"I awoke this morning to a silent city. All those familiar smells and sensations of a grave, the deathly stillness of the air, the powdered concrete taste that permanently sticks in the back of your throat. But then again, a grave was what it was. And not just my city, every city. Everyone is dead.I was uncomfortable in silence. So used to screams so tortured they were barely human, this sensation felt particularly wrong. Those screams would haunt me till the day I died. They were getting further and further ahead of us each day, what with their new technology and the simple fact that slowly they were closing in and there were less and less places to hide. One day, I wouldn't hear them coming." The earth is dead, as is most of humanity. Those that survive must deal with the aftermath of what they have caused and what will be done to them. Something is coming. Nothing can save them.
