I had high hopes for this study as I've enjoyed John MacArthur's teaching. Sadly, his portrayal of women is sexist and patronizing. The chapter on Mary is nothing more than a bashing of the Catholic Church. Anna, the woman who prophesied over the newborn Jesus in the temple must have overheard Simeon proclaiming his blessing to know what to say because a woman couldn't possibly be that credible, etc. Our bible study group couldn't even get through it. We scrapped the study 3/4 of the way into it.

This was an excellent study of some of the most well-known women in the Bible. The workbook is organized in a progressive manner, with each chapter starting with what you know, moving to the scriptures and what it tells you, and ending with how it applies to your life.

Highly recommend.

Family friendly.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Christian Resources. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Originally I gave this workbook based on the title 3 stars. I am revising my stars to zero.

John MacArthur is a misogynist. He is entitled, self-righteous, and just plain disgusting. His demeaning views about and toward women, and other marginalized groups is embarrassing and infuriating.

Good aid

Always a good idea to have a workbook in place during studies to have better grasp on things to be learned.

Although we didn't always agree with this author, it gave one of my Bible Study groups a good springboard for discussion.

This book was so disappointing! I expected much more considering how highly rated at is.
It's quite apparent through this book that MacArthur neither likes nor respects women. He rarely says why these women are "extraordinary" and mostly talks about how what they said or did or felt was wrong.
To top it off, this book is loaded with MacArthur's opinions and inferences that aren't based on any biblical facts.

I have been teaching this book to a group of about 30 women this spring. We have enjoyed it very much.

I wanted to be inspired by this book. Sadly, I wasn't. When reading the Bible I am inspired by these women, so I would re-direct readers to the Bible.
