Identical twins Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield and their friends at Sweet Valley Middle School are going camping! Elizabeth can't wait to spend a week swimming in the lake, sleeping in a tent, and roasting marshmallows over a bonfire. Best of all, the wilderness provides the perfect setting for a little romance with her sort-of boyfriend, Todd Wilkins.
Romance is also in the air for Jessica. She has her eye on Dennis Asher, a cute seventh-grader who's new at school. But Jessica can't survive without a blow-dryer--how can she impress Dennis when she looks so terrible?
So Jessica comes up with a brilliant scheme. She pushes her twin, who looks great while roughing it, on Dennis--and tells him Elizabeth is Jessica! Todd is very confused, and Elizabeth is furious! Elizabeth fights back...by making sure that Jessica's plan works a little too well...
Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
Camp, all the classmates are camping. Jessica Wakefield wants a kiss. Well the title says she gets one but from who? Cute little story perfect for a lazy afternoon.
The twins are off to the Bannerman estate. Sounds glamorous. Only it's not. Jessica is in a state of despair once she realizes there's no electricity. At all. How tf will she ever get Aaron in the mood with her disheveled appearance? Elizabeth, on the other hand, is swooning and hopeful to spend some quality time with Todd Wilkins.
Having never gone camping myself, I could totally understand the Unicorns' plight and ongoing dread during the whole ordeal. Needless to say, they weren't the prettiest and most popular girls here. They were all gross from days of not bathing in the wilderness. In fact, I think they hid in their tents the whole time, except for Jessica. Where was she anyway? Well, plotting to catch a seventh-grader with her unaware secret weapon, Elizabeth.
I especially liked Aaron Dallas in this one. He was hilarious. Elizabeth is still the down-to-earth simple character that she is. Jessica on the other hand is mischievous and thinks she can one-up her sister. But once again her twin has a trick up her sleeve.
This is my second time reading this book. I once borrowed a copy before but only recently managed to snag a copy for free from a high school friend when they decluttered. Wish they still sold these for cheap. E-commerce sites are selling it at insanely high prices that are ridiculously higher than the Sweet Valley High ones. Like wtf?
This is a pretty good book. I enjoy reading it every once in a while.
Jessica Wakefield and all of her friends go on a camping trip with the school. Jessica thinks it's going to be wonderful until she gets there. There's no electricity, the showers aren't terribly clean, she's sleeping in a tent on the ground, and nothing is going like she planned. When she meets a really cute guy, she tries to come up with a sneaky way to catch him so that when she goes home and gets cleaned up, she can date him. So, she pretends that she's Elizabeth and that Elizabeth, who loves camping and looks great, is Jessica.
When Elizabeth finds out, she's not too happy. But, she plays along to teach her sister a lesson. Her boyfriend doesn't like it, either, but Elizabeth promises him that he's the only one she loves.
In the mean time, Aaron Dallas is trying to be funny and sets off a false bear attack alarm through out the camp multiple times! Pretty soon, no one believes him and no one likes him much, either. So when a real bear comes, no one comes to help him.
I'll let you read it to figure out what happens. It's pretty good.
The series that made me want to read forever...Never was there a better group of characters, storylines and lessons. I loved every minute of the adventure.
