Ann Matthews Martin was born on August 12, 1955. She grew up in Princeton, New Jersey, with her parents and her younger sister, Jane. After graduating from Smith College, Ann became a teacher and then an editor of children's books. She's now a full-time writer.

Ann gets the ideas for her books from many different places. Some are based on personal experiences, while others are based on childhood memories and feelings. Many are written about contemporary problems or events. All of Ann's characters, even the members of the Baby-sitters Club, are made up. But many of her characters are based on real people. Sometimes Ann names her characters after people she knows, and other times she simply chooses names that she likes.

Ann has always enjoyed writing. Even before she was old enough to write, she would dictate stories to her mother to write down for her. Some of her favorite authors at that time were Lewis Carroll, P. L. Travers, Hugh Lofting, Astrid Lindgren, and Roald Dahl. They inspired her to become a writer herself.

Since ending the BSC series in 2000, Ann’s writing has concentrated on single novels, many of which are set in the 1960s.

After living in New York City for many years, Ann moved to the Hudson Valley in upstate New York where she now lives with her dog, Sadie, and her cats, Gussie, Willy and Woody. Her hobbies are reading, sewing, and needlework. Her favorite thing to do is to make clothes for children.

truly a book that every bsc fan should own. it includes details about pretty much every person, place, or thing ever mentioned in the series (through 1996). I could look at it all day. if you’re reading a book that mentions a student at sms offhand, and you suspect the name is familiar but can’t keep all the sms students straight, this book will remind you of every prior appearance of that character and the circumstances of those appearances.

Complete Guide to everything BSC since 1996. This does not include information for books published after that time since the author (LOVE YOU ANN M. MARTIN) continued to write the series until 2000. It contains all this information: Club Facts, BSC Members, BSC Family Members, BSC clients, other BSC people, Places, Things, Beyond Stoneybrook (Dawn's California home, Stacey's New York City Life, and other BSC travel spots), and a map of Stoneybrook! I love and and I'm SO glad its in my collection!!!

I started reading The Baby-sitters Club series when I was six and loved it. I only gave up my collection a couple years ago as an adult, and that mostly because I was moving. This was a fun guide but pretty obviously not compiled by the author (or at least not her alone) as it had a few mistakes. Also had some fun additions like a map of Stoneybrook as I recall. Worth reading and enjoying if you're a fan.

Wow this is how to do it ppl! Honestly, i didn't read this book but what would come in handy is if you would group
together a series of books such as u have listed above and put all the books from thst series in it. That way a person doesn't have to go thru an entire series, one book @ a time rating esch and every one. Id much rather
give a rating to a series of books & then go in & pick out my absolute faves to single out for ratings and review!

WOW!!!! It is the first series of books I read when I was a little girl. It really got me on the path to this wonderful relationship I have with reading. I plan on buying the series for both my little sisters once they reach the age of 10.

I used to love the Baby Sitter's Club series when I was younger and I loaned out this guide numerous times. My favourite part was the featured map inside!
