Marilyn Peake wraps up this novella series, exposing all the conspiracies and corruption, the perverted reasons for setting the zombies loose, and my juices were flowing as they pissed me off and sickened me beyond words, but left me with the faith that a ‘few good men/women can make all the difference in the world.

So the end of series of short novellas is always the hardest to write and that is something you really can tell in this series. I loved the series and the first books are awesome but the longer into the series you get, the more boring it gets and you can really tell that the author has run out of ideas!

Instead of having any kind of story, this part just sums up an ending. there is nothing there to get, more than a brief summary of what happened in the end. No feelings, nothing in it. just a matter of fact. This destroyed it for me and that is why I can give it any good rating. I dont like giving bad reviews but when a book, or novella is bad, there isnt anything I can do.

Part of me, wish that the author had stopped after the first part, or maybe after the second. This is 6 short novellas, that is easy to read but gets less and less interested and gripping the longer we get. Trust me, the first part is just pure awesomeness and then reading this, from the same authors is sad. I tried to see it as ONE long book, with 6 long chapters and that made it a little bit easier and maybe that is how you are supposed to see it, and maybe if it was released like that it would get better review. But as it is no, this is part, took me forever to read and I was bored. I even skimmed parts in the middle because I was so bored of not having any story or feeling into it. This, the last part, is a huge flopp and even if you like and enjoy the other parts, this part is not worth buying or reading.

With the US military and violent militias targeting everyone trying to find a cure for the Zombie Plague, survivors are fleeing to China seeking refuge in Mark Chen’s bunker. An unlikely ally is found in Dr. Cheng Wu, AKA Wei Chen, Mark’s cousin. The wife of the main militia leader, distraught after he shot their daughter who became infected, is now seeking help for her son who has also become infected.
The tension created in the previous books continues as the survivors race against the clock and deadly enemies to find a cure to a disease that threatens the globe. While the story is still fascinating, the execution of Mutation Z: Desperate Measures by Marilyn Peake doesn’t live up to the preceding books. A bit choppy in places, it almost seems that the author, seeing the end coming, is rushing to finish it. I still enjoyed it, just not quite as much as the earlier books.
I’ll have to give this one a mere three and a half stars. I received a free gift copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

I almost didn’t want to start this one as it’s the final book and I didn’t want it to end.

I wondered who would survive, if they’d find a cure, whether the world could be saved. I didn’t have a clue how all of my questions would be answered.

The author did a bang up job of doing just that. She gave me lots of endings for lots of characters. I got a pretty good idea of what would happen with the bad guys. No real surprise there. It’s happened that way for a lot of them in real life, so it felt right. And I learned what would happen to the world.

Curious about how she would handle the two kinds of zombies, she explained that too.

All that and Marilyn still found room to throw in some sea pirates. Not bad at all. Nothing felt rushed or disjointed. It all flowed easily to the end.

I hope you get a chance to read this series. I’d recommend you try the first one. If it’s you’re cuppa tea, grab the rest. The price is right and you’ll be able to zip through them without pause.

Excellent Book

This is the last book of the series. I wish it would keep on going, but all good things have an ending. This series is Great. It's the ZA, but much better than other books about it. They are looking for a cure and find one.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series. Ms. Peake is an excellent writer and this series shows it well.
