Elite Firefighting crew

This book is written by Carl Bowen the Lexile level is 5.8. The reason pick this book is because one of my friends said to read this book and as soon as I picked up the book I could not put it down. The book explains how Jason Garrett was put on the newest fire and rescue team and has to risk everything and go up against 100-foot walls and 2,000-degree flames.
The story takes place in the forest and they face all the challenges of what to do in case of fire spreads all over and they're all deployed in one area. So one day lieutenant Jason Garrett was called into his father's of office and was told that he was going to give a speech about being on the new fire and rescue team and he just found out that day that he was going to give a speech and going to be on this new team. After giving the speech he went to the first practice and meet all the other coworkers. When meeting Sgt. Rendon she wasn't there to just strut her stuff she's there to save people and stop people from starting wildfires. When being deployed in the field they can't be afraid of death they need to be stone cold and has to be able to do whatever it takes to stop the wildfire.
The book was really good it explained all the things it takes to become a firefighter and it's not all going to be the easiest thing in the world but they do it to help the people and the environment. The part in this book that was the most interesting was when he had to jump out of the plain with the new team and then leaned out in front of the fire front.

My book is called Firestormers Fire Front. Its by Carl Bowen. The book is about a guy named Garrett who saved ten students from a fire in the biggest high school in there state. The guy got a promotion to the most elite fire fighter group in America. The group is called the firestormers. The firestormers fight giant wildfires and evacuate people that would be affected by them.

Garrett accepts the offer and moves to the position of Co-leader. Garrett and the firestormers plot to split up into four different groups. One group would go to the north side of the CA wildfire, the second one would go to the east side of the wildfire, the third group would go to the south side, and the last group would go to the west. All the groups would build a fire barrier; working clockwise for miles until they reach where the group in front of them has started. This California wildfire spread out for about 7 miles long. When they got there groups split up, Garrett and his group had to start on the east side of the wildfire. The main leader of the group is named Chief Owens. Chief Owens and his group went to the north. There was thirty one to thirty two people in each group, and altogether it makes about one hundred twenty six firestormer troops working to put out this fire.

It was about three days progress made on the wildfire. They had the barrier completely finished, and they clip the edges of fire off so it couldn't grow any larger than it already was. When all of a sudden everybody gets a report that the leader of the firestormers; Chief Owens was missing and he was last saw in the northern part of the giant forest. Garrett responded immediately by contacting two air tactical planes to put out the part of the fire he was last seen by. Garrett and two generals got in to contact with a search party as the planes put out the North Eastern part of the fire. When the planes got the fire out Garrett immediately sent the search party and about 63 men to look for Chief Owens. It was about three hours when Garrett spotted someone sitting on a log eating a BLT sandwich. When he went up to the man he then realized it was the leader of the firestormers Chief Owens. Garrett notified every body from the firestormers and everyone that was searching for Garrett. “Have you been there the whole time?” Garrett asked. “Well, I got a little lost in the woods while I was trying to see if there was more houses we didn’t find or evacuate, so I just sat down on a long for a bit and remembered I had packed a BLT sandwich, and now we're here.” They both laughed as more members of the firestormers pulled up and said “The fire is almost completely out, and we are leaving the rest up to the local firefighters.” The entire crew of the firestormers met up one last time and they were all exhausted. “Everyone can head home and get some good rest” Garrett said to the team. “I know I will”
