Demon Hunter #1

Between the Bleeding Willows

Rate this book
At eighteen years old, Cassidy has suffered more loss than most…

At the end of her senior year, her boyfriend, Jace Peters, was killed in a car accident, and her grandmother died only weeks later of a heart attack. Emotionally lost, Cassidy desperately searches for an heirloom her boyfriend was wearing in the crash—her mother’s gold ring. But during her search, Cassidy discovers more than her ring.

She finds a gate to the Demon Realm….

A battle is brewing, and Killian—head of the Demon hunters—preps his Clan for the approaching conflict. They’ve been working to secure the gate between his realm and the mortal world. But it’s been nearly impossible since Rya—a voracious demon on a quest to expand her power—devoured the soul of his Clan’s necromancer. Now Rya is possessed with the necromancer’s powers and she may break through the gate at any moment.

Apparently Rya isn’t the only one Killian has to worry about…

When Cassidy accidentally crosses into the Demon Realm, Killian can’t understand how a human girl survived the transition. Now he has to find a way to return her to her own world, or risk her being caught in the crossfire, which is a complication he definitely doesn’t need.

Once back in the Human Realm, Cassidy readies herself for battle. She signs up for Krav Maga classes, where she meets Tyler Romaitis—a handsome, tenacious, humble guy. He seems almost perfect, but nothing is ever that easy.

And as the balance between good and evil shifts, Cassidy finds herself—and her ring—at the heart of the conflict for the survival of mankind.

Eighteen year old Cassidy has known nothing but loss. Her mother died during child birth leaving her with her grandmother. Now at the end of her senior year her high school sweetheart Jace had been killed in an automobile accident. Shortly after Jace's death Cassidy's grandmother also passes away from a heart attack.

Left all alone in life Cassidy visits the cemetery and finds herself stumbling through a gate into the unknown finding herself waking in the care of a clan of demon hunters. In order to save her life after passing the gate she's been tattooed with the blood of Killian, the head demon hunter. Killian and Cassidy now share a bond but he wants nothing more than to get her back out of the demon realm before she ends up in danger from a pending war.

Between the Bleeding Willows reminded me an awful lot of the Mortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare. I absolutely love that series so it's not shocking that I also enjoyed this book with all of the similarities between the two I just didn't feel this one grabbed me quite as much as the MI series had, perhaps that's because it took a while to weed out the originality with this one since so much seemed the same.

Eventually this story took on a life of it's own and I really began to enjoy the book. It is the first book of a series and I'd be interested in continuing to see where this goes. While there were a lot of things revealed there is also room for the story to really grow and become a great series.

Overall, I decided on 3.5 stars for this one. A world of demon hunters much like the Mortal Instruments series so fans of those books may enjoy this one.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first paranormal book and it was a wild ride to create. Beyond creating characters and storyline, I had the chance to craft a new world powers, obstacles, creatures, and a unique set of rules. At times it was a lot to keep track of, but it was a very organic writing process and I'm happy with where the story ended up.

The setting takes place in the town I grew up in, a small suburb of Chicago with crops and run down barns occasionally dotting the landscape of strip malls and subdivisions. There is a lot going on in the book and I needed to keep my focus and not forget about my characters. My characters, the people I wish could jump off the page and live in our world so I can know them as friends, I've grown emotionally close to them and think that they are what makes the story what it is.

I'm hoping others will like the book. It is more of a struggle between good and evil than a spooky story. Happy reading!

I was provided an review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Between the Bleeding Willows is about a young girl named Cassidy who had her boyfriend and grandmother die in her senior year of high school; her grandmother was her only family. Cassidy later thinks she sees her dead boyfriend while looking for a family trinket and stumbles into a realm of demon hunters. Killian runs a clan of demon hunters who are in a spot of bad luck; they find themselves at a disadvantage to the demons and this threatens the human realm. Killian cannot figure out how Cassidy stumbled into their realm or how she survived it.

Ok what I liked about the book was the first 25%. There is a lot of emotion and grief in the first part of the book and it seems very authentic; so authentic I wonder if the author has firsthand experience with this type of situation. The tragic circumstance stance that Cassidy is embroiled in at such a young age is heart wrenching and very well done.

What I didn’t like was after the first quarter of the book the plot slows down and we cover some events that didn’t seem necessary to the story. We have a couple of character introductions that were obvious red shirts and died fairly quickly; I didn’t know enough about them to really care what happened to them. Some of the story through this middle section I just didn’t find believable. A group of people whose whole purpose is to fight bad things is unlikely to say a tunnel they have used for a very long time that is connect directly to their strong hole is now just too dangerous to use and just close it off. I think it would be more believable that they would clean out the nasty things that tried to move in and keep it cleared out. Lastly at 40% of the book we have insta love. Frankly Cassidy and Killian have hardy spoken to each other and when they have it’s been mostly in an investigative interview type manor. There is absolutely nothing there for Killian to have any sort of attachment to Cassidy let alone love her.

I feel that Between the Bleeding Willows needs another round of major editing. I have found many grammar and formatting errors throughout the book. There are sentences where it looks like part of something didn’t get deleted and it makes no sense. I find forgotten words or forgotten letters throughout and there is also whole section where there is tons of line breaks after either every sentence or mid-sentence on the Kindle version.

Over all I think the concept had a lot of potential and the first part of the book is great but after that the story and writing really didn’t live up to what it could have been.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book and found it difficult to put it down after reaching a point where the action picked up. When I reached 75%, I was afraid to read it on my lunch break as I had been doing because I was afraid I would get to a point that I just couldn’t stop reading.

The book started out a little slow for me and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to give the book a good review. But then we’re introduced to the demon/demon hunter world and it got real interesting. I haven’t read many demon hunter books and was confused about some of the terminology used in the story and had to google it. Surprisingly enough there appears to be a lot of information in the world wide web about hunting demons.

The main female character Cassidy really seemed to grow throughout the book. At the start of the book I had the impression that she was a meek and shy girl. But as the book goes on she seemed capable of kicking some ass! I'm really looking forward to seeing what she learns to do with her newfound abilities and connection to the demon hunter world.

I enjoyed the struggling relationship between Cassidy and Killian, but was a bit disappointed we didn’t get to see them connect more. But I guess maybe there was more of a focus on the demon hunting. I was disappointed to see the bond between the two removed and actually a bit surprised to see that it could be done. I hope the bond is introduced again. I’d like to see how it could affect the two characters.

I was disappointed that the book ended without resolutions to several things and without a happy period ending. I know things need to be unresolved to continue the series into multiple books. I just wish there could have been a way to end the book on a break between bad things of sorts where people are happy and things are looking up.

I hope I don’t have to wait too long to read book 2!

I can't remember the last time I read a paranormal romance book so I was a bit worried about this one. After I started reading it, I couldn't stop, and ended up reading it straight through. I absolutely loved it! It was so fun to read. This book reminded me how much I love this genre. It felt good to read something different. It's really fast paced and definitely action packed. Who doesn't love a hot demon hunter? I'm sad I have to wait for the next book!!

Wow!

I absolutely loved this book! My heart broke in the beginning, Cassidy seemed to be dealing with a lot of heart ache and loss. I was super bummed with how things turned out for Jace. I’m truly wondering if things can change for him as the series progresses. I loved Killian, but he has a problem with following his heart and thinking he knows best for everyone. He is a little bossy which makes me laugh too. I hope that he and Cassidy find their way to one another. I’m am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series can’t wait to see what happens!! Definitely recommend reading this book!! ♥️♥️

Book club book - the pick was supporting local author. Having been my first read of other world type books, I wasn't sure what to expect. First loved the local references (heehee). I did like the various characters and could actually picture the different places she wrote about. I am annoyed though... it showed "96% finished" on my kindle and I couldn't imagine how it would end... ITS A SERIES!! I really looking forward to the next book :)

This was good, Cassidy the main character really evolves. and the author describes the characters nicely, giving the reader a great visual. One can not go wrong with this book. If you like cool independent woman Cassidy succeeds at that. I will free up some time to read another D.A. Roach book soon

This was first published on my blog "Lecture toute une Aventure"

Great first instalment in an excellent YA urban fantasy....we are immediately immerged in a universe captivating and it becomes quickly a real page turner.

I loved Cassidy, she is courageous and even if she is suffering she wants to help others...she is thrown into a world she had no ideas existed, she gets injured and she still wants to save her friends.
Killian is young but already a leader so when Cassidy follows him she become his responsibility even if deep down something else is growing. He is courageous, determined to do good by his clan even if it means not following his heart.
The secondary characters like Casper are also really interesting and we want to learn more about them.

There are a lot of violence - but they are fighting demons after all,- some moments are really tearful and at other time we are smiling or laughing so this story really has it all and i do recommend you to try it if you are interested.

the only thing a little bothersome is the cliffhanger but book 2 is already out so if you want you don't need to wait before continuing their adventures.

This had a very well paced and intriguing start and had me hooked. I liked the backstory was explained well and also the events that led up to Cassidy meeting Killian.

From there however the story started to falter and some explanations were weak, the romance patchy and rushed and the friendships not very believable.

There were a lot of repetitive moments and the ending was rushed and rather confusing with an attempt at a rather anticlimactic cliffhanger.

Was an ok read and i will probably finish the series as the books are so short.

Oh my gosh!!!!! DA Roach hooked me instantly with this book. So, so, SO GOOD!! I LOVE reading YA Paranormal books with just the right amount of romance intertwined to keep me hoping something more will happen, and let me just say: this is IT.

My heart was sad right off the bat and I feared this would be one of those books where the HEA was doomed from the very beginning... But then, things turned around and got very promising.

Enter Killian.
Hello, Mr. Delicious!!!! Broody, mysterious, powerful, tattooed, protective....and did I mention, dee-lee-cious?! Oh, yes! He was the leader of his clan (they were demon hunters) and let me tell you, he was a leader through and through, and a sexy one at that. He'd stayed away from love or even the idea of it because he'd always put his clan first. Their safety was his one priority and always would be.

Or would it, now...?

Cassidy had lost her boyfriend of four years to a car accident. Then, her grandmother who raised her passed away suddenly too. Talk about kicking a girl when she's down! She was left all alone, feeling beyond lost. Needing to find the one thing that would connect her to Jace, her mother's ring she'd given him, she one day headed to the scene of the accident hoping to find it there. That day changed everything for Cassidy. She found more than a ring. She met Killian and was introduced to this whole other world that she'd always been interested in, but never really knew actually existed!

Killian and Cassidy.
Man, oh man.
Their chemistry sizzled and it went beyond the bond they shared in order for Killian to save her life. (I mean, there ARE worse things in life than being bonded to one of the hottest guys EVER, but that's besides the point. Lol!) It was funny reading scenes where Killian would get jealous of Casper, one of the clan members that was assigned -- by Killian, mind you -- to protect Cassidy. I probably had the biggest grin on my face while reading at this point.

Okay, let me explain. Cassidy and Killian shared a tattoo (they were bonded through that tattoo) and every time Killian would feel anger or jealousy because of Casper, their tattoos would light up and sting. Now, at first Cassidy did not know who she was bonded with (Killian kept her at arm's length), only that she was bonded to someone in the clan in order to keep her from dying from injuries she had sustained. So when her tattoo would out of nowhere hurt, it was pretty comical because it would ALWAYS happen when her and Casper were hanging out and maybe getting a bit too close. And it just so happened that Killian would be near by SEEING THAT. Oh, hmm.

Anyway, so much happened between the pages of this book. I fear that I can easily get carried away and spill the beans on everything, so I will stop here. I will say that there was drama, action, little surprises thrown into the mix...and then, we also got the INEVITABLE romance brewing between Killian and Cassidy. If you love YA PNR books, do yourself a favor and get this book. I promise you will enjoy it!! I can't wait to start book 2!! FIVE STARS.

I met this author at a book convention in June and she was lovely and offered me a copy of this book to review! I said yes, even though I wasn't really sure what this book was about! I read the synopsis shortly after and this book sounded amazing, so I couldn't wait to read it! I just feel really bad now that it taken me months to get to this book because I was enthralled by this book as soon as I started reading it! It only took me a few sittings to read and I read the first 60% in one sitting because I couldn't put it down! The plot also developed at the perfect pace and I loved the originality of it! The plot had some action and suspense in it too, which I loved! There was romance as well! The plot wasn't heavy on the romance, but it was in there and there was definitely enough of it! The plot also had paranormal creatures in it like demons! There were also part angel creatures as well, which is what the main male character was, but I'm not really sure what you called them lol! It was most likely in the book, but I zoomed through it so fast I probably missed it lol! I just loved the plot and it did surprise me with some twist and turns! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Cassidy was the main female character, and my heart completely went out to her in this book! She had lost everyone that was close to her, but what I loved about Cassidy was that she didn't wallow in self pity and she got up and she kept living! Cassidy then went through a lot in this book and she was thrust into a world that she knew nothing about! Cassidy handed it way better than I would have lol! She was so calm and she fitted in so well! I also connected with Cassidy all the way thorough this book and I didn't lose that connection with her! I loved her as a character! Killian was the main male character and love interest of Cassidy! I loved Killian a lot! He was seriously hot and he took charge and tried to do the best he could for his people! I loved the way Killian was with Cassidy too! It was easy to see his feelings develop for her as the plot developed! He was very protective of her too, which was understandable considering the situation they were in! Killian was also a kick-ass character and he showed this again and again in this book! He could fight, he took charge when needed, and he cared a lot about the people closest to him! I can't wait to read more of Killian in the next book! I loved that this book was written from both Cassidy and Killian's point of views! I wasn't expecting this book to be co-written, but it was really cool that it was! It helped me connect with the two main characters more and it also allowed for more things to happen in the plot! I also can't wait to read the next book in this series! I'm really happy that it's recently released so that I don't have to wait for it! This book also exceeded my expectations, so I can't wait to see what's going to happen next for the characters! The ending was also left at the perfect place! it wasn't a huge cliff-hanger, which I loved in a way lol! The cover for this book suits it perfectly! I love it and it would definitely make me pick the book up to find out more!

This book is about a girl Cassidy, who grew up motherless and fatherless. Raised by her Gram in a small town. When her high school sweetheart wraps his car around a tree, she is devastated, but when not much later her Gram dies of a heart attack, she becomes listless, lonely, and dwelling in the past. She gives up the idea of collage at least for a while and she stays home trying to put herself back together. Looking for a memento that has special properties, left to her by her mother and given to her sweetheart Jace. She goes to the site of Jace's accident and begins to look around, thinking she hears voices she follows the sounds to an old, abandoned and be lived haunted cemetery, where she thinks she see Jace being chased, then he disappears between a pair of bleeding willows. Doubting herself she follows. Between two bleeding willows she finds her memento and everything goes black. Waking up in a clinic type room and hearing voices when the people talking realize that she is awake they explain that she fell into their world and that no one has ever survived it before, and the man who appears to be in charge is persistent in asking how she had done it. Killian is clan leader of a group of Demon hunters that are descendants of angles breeding with humans and they are guardian to the gates of hell basically. When he saves a girl that has gated in by accident he takes her to his sister the clan healer where he waits for her to wake up. When she eventually does come around calling for Jace a recently dead man changed to demon Killian has to know how she was able to get through the gate and how she knows Jace, she is not really able to say much on how she arrived but she does explain who Jace was to her, and he tells her how Jace has changed, and as soon as she is able he sends her though the cemetery gate home. This is the beginning of their very unlikely relationship and things just get more complicated from there. This book was a fast paced Urban Fantasy, well worth the read. This author has a very different perspective on demons and demon hunters, I really enjoyed it.

I was given an advanced reading copy in exchange for a honest review.

I have been doing a countdown for this book to release. I've read the synopsis and saw the teasers. The anticipation was going to kill me. I was given the opportunity to get my hands on a early copy and I had to sweep it up. I admired the cover because it is gorgeous. I can't get over the title. Between the Bleeding Willows. There is something special about willows trees for me. Since I was a little girl they always represented magic and reading. I couldn't wait to crack it up.

Once I cracked it open I got to met the main character Cassidy. The first paragraph got me hooked and I knew I was in for a adventure. The story was well paced and had twists and turns. The ending will leave you with a bit of cliffhanger which I think I have figured out. I was in love with her right away. I had tears in my eyes within the first few chapters. I instantly felt connected to her. She is a complex character and you get to enjoy the raw emotions she experiences. It will pull on strings. A little bit later we met Killian. Now for everyone out there he is my new book boyfriend and you can't have him. He is dark, mysterious, and thoughtful demon hunter. He makes the perfect man for me. He is also a bit complex because he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. It was interesting to get his point of view and Cassidy as well. I loved all the secondary characters with Casper being my favorite because of his love for books. Now my favorite moment was when Cassidy kissed Casper. It was hilarious and well planned.

Overall I fell in love with the series and plan on reading every book that comes out. It is written by a author who is a master storyteller. If you enjoy magic, love, heart break, courage, selflessness, tenderness and unforgettable characters then I would recommend this book for you.

This is the second D.A. Roach book I have read and again, she has successfully taken me out of my comfort zone and I enjoyed it. Not a huge reader of YA books, however with hers, it doesn't seem to make a difference. I was hooked from chapter one of Between the Bleeding Willows and stayed that way until the very end.

"Bound to both heaven and hell-yet not at the same time." ~ Serena

That pretty much sums up what Cassidy is now facing. After losing her grandmother and boyfriend Jace in a short period of time, Cassidy decides to go back to Jase's accident scene to retrieve her mother's ring as it's the only thing she has left of her family. Upon finding the ring, Cassidy finds herself in a world she never believed existed and is absolutely shocked at it's newest edition.

Accidentally entering the demon realm, Cassidy surprises herself as well at the Clan leader Killian at surviving the transition. She shouldn't have made it through the gates unharmed, which makes him very suspicious. However, Killian has other things on his mind, such as who is releasing demons and how to keep his clan safe. The action only amps up from here.

The review is vague as to not spoil any of the story line, but the book is not. D.A. Roach opened my eyes to paranormal once again and I am glad for it. Between the Bleeding Willows was well written, with excellent detail that leapt off of the pages. I will patiently be waiting for book two, it'll be interesting to see how it all unfolds. Team Killian right here!

Between the Bleeding Willows - D A Roach 5 Hashtags

This book totally captivated me and drew me in, I was right there totally transported into Cassidy's rapidly changing world. There isn't a dull moment throughout and the writing is fantastic, you can really feel that lovely connection with the characters.

There is so much going on in this book that it kept my interest throughout. Cassidy recently loses her boyfriend of 4 years, Jace was her college sweetheart and she is completely devastated. Shortly after Cassidy also loses her Gram, now she is left with no-one to lean on. When Cassidy returns to the scene of Jace's accident to look for her missing ring everything in her world changes.

Cassidy is a really lovely person, she is also really strong and independent. Killian, a demon hunter, is completely focused on the job he needs to do and tries very hard to ignore his feelings for Cassidy despite their bonding by their tattoos.

This book is so well written, I seriously loved every minute and I am so looking forward to reading the next book in this series. DA roach please don't make me wait too long! I highly recommend this book for any paranormal fan - a very big easy 5 stars.

"Between the Bleeding Willows" is the story of nineteen year old Cassidy, who has experienced a great deal of loss, never having known her parents and having had to deal with the unexpected deaths of her grandmother and long-term boyfriend recently. She stumbles upon a different world of demon hunters one day, where she meets Killian. Despite Killian's best efforts to keep Cassidy out of his world, it keeps pulling her back in as she seems destined to be a part of it.

This is a captivating novel with twists and turns that you don't see coming (I had guesses about the ring and her father-the big mysteries in the book- that turned out to be wrong). I had a hard time putting it down after getting past the first ~25% as it really picked up and didn't stop (in a great way!).

I enjoyed the idea of the bond between Cassidy and Killian, but I wish there was a little more build up before the bond (maybe some more attraction/moments to make the background of the strong feelings a little more believable). However, I totally bought into it by halfway through the book and loved it by the end (I can't wait to see their relationship build in the future).

The book is fast paced and keeps the reader engaged. It's a great choice for those who love the fantasy genre. I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment in this series!

Please note that I received this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

*This book was provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

This book was intriguing and different from most of the angel and demon books I've read before. After losing her boyfriend and Grandma who was like a mother-figure to her, Cassy is all alone. The one link she has to her past; her mother, grandmother and boyfriend is a ring that used to be her mother's and which she gave to her boyfriend. After finding this ring a whole range of discoveries await Cassy. I really liked all the characters but in particular Cassy, Killian and Casper. I really hope Killian and Cassy end up together.

The plot was also good and the book was fast paced and filled with action. It was an addictive read and I couldn't put it down. I really liked the idea of the underground complex and for some reason it reminded me of some post-apocalyptic compound rather than a headquarters for demon hunters. The one criticism I have is that the story ended kind of abruptly. One minute I am engrossed in the story excited to read about new developments and the next my screen tells me I can read an excerpt from the next boo. I'm not impressed. :( Needless to say I can't wait to read the next book.

The first 4 chapters of the book is so good I thought I would like it until the very end. But after the few chapters, the story started to get slow. And in the part that the characters are being introduced in the story, I just felt that there is something missing. I didn't felt any connection with the other characters other than Cassidy. And it was really hard for me to accept that suddenly Cassidy and Killian has a thing. Everything that happened after she got her tattoo was so unbelievable that I am already having a hard time liking it.

Overall, I still think that this book could have a great potential. The World- building is promising if you ask me. Maybe it only need some changes that will make the story more interesting. There should also be some edits to made and focus on more about the pacing and how will keep the readers interest in the story. There are alot of details here I find unnecessary. The author should really build a good momentum in every chapter to keep every reader's interest.

I was first introduced to D.A. Roach through her young adult romance novel Rarity. Although Between the Bleeding Willows comes from an entirely different genre, Roach weaves her story with the same finesse seen in her previous novel. The book starts out with the story of Cassidy and the hardships she has endured throughout her short life. Cassidy finds purpose and destiny through her discovery of the Demon Realm and Demon Hunters. Throughout the novel, I found myself relating to her character on many levels-the mark of a great author. I wanted to be her, yet I also wanted to protect her from the things she had to experience in her life. The plot is fast-paced and packed with tons of action and emotion. I would recommend it for anyone who reads paranormal/action novels, or anyone who simply loves to read books from a very talented author. I can't wait to see where the story progresses in the next installment!

I have to say this is a first I have read from D.A. Roach and have to say it was awesome. In away it felt like I was reading one of Sherrilyn Kenyon`s demon hunters yet in a world far different from her books. We have Killian who in Cassidy`s eye is just like her in age yet he is man who has the whole world on his shoulders. I loved that no matter how tough things are going in the book Killian is the one person who is strong through everything. I cringed at when his sister was ill and seeing Killian struggling to keep control in everything was like wow. Now Cassidy was a complex at first for no matter what she did she was convinced Jace was the same yet I kept rooting for Killian. Have to say D.A. Roach just wowed me in this book and now I`m in suspense what is going to happen in Book 2. Don`t be fooled about Cassidy though for inside she is a fighter all the way and Killian is exactly what she needs. Loved it.

Wow! This book was really good. I loved Rarity, but this one is different - in a good way. It's edgy and dark, with a paranormal twist. It's mystical and mysterious, keeping me intrigued page by page.
I loved Cassidy. She's a great main character, well rounded and flawed, but also lovable. She has experienced more tragedy in her life than most people can even fathom, but she pushes on. And just when I thought this story might be about her coping with grief and loss, she stumbles into an old graveyard looking for her grandmother's ring....and that's when things get crazy and wicked and mystical.
Fans of the paranormal will love this book, but I think it appeals to many readers because it's such a good plot and the writing is great. Can't wait to read more of this series.

A delightful, fast paced, story that pulls you in. Characters are real and believeable. A good plot, with several subplots, which made it feel even more real. At no point did I feel that I was reading a book. This author submersed the reader into the story and did not let off until the end. I couldn't get enough. Thanks for making it so addictive to read, D.A. Roach, that I stayed up all night to finish. That's saying a lot for your work! Bravo. My only complaint about the book is I need more Demon Hunters and the rest of the story. I hope book 2 is in the works and available to your followers soon. A great book that I recommend for anyone you enjoys a little action and suspense with their romance.

*My Thoughts*

Between the Bleeding Willows is the first installment in D.A. Roach's Demon Hunter' series. 18-year old protagonist Cassidy Kavanaugh is about as unlucky as a person can get. First, she looses her boyfriend of 4 years, Jace Peters, the boy who meant the world to her in every way. Then, 2 weeks after HIS funeral, Cassidy looses the only woman who has been by her side since her own parents died, her grandmother.

I recieved an ARC of Between the Bleeding Willows for an honest review. Having previously read another book by this author and enjoyed it, I jumped to the opportunity. However, this book was out of genre preference, so I was a little worried rather or not I would enjoy it. As I started reading I wasn't expecting to get into the book as much as I did, but boy..... this was an amazing read. I will admit this whole demons and special powers is weird for me, but I think I am warming up to it. Deborah writes so well and makes it so easy for readers to fall in love with her characters and want more. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

I really did like this book. It is very interesting to me because I like stories of angels and demons and their interactions with humans. The epic story of good vs evil. Of course, I like it best when good wins.

This book ends in quite the cliffhanger. I'm anxious to read the next book in the series. Even if good wins, evil extracts its revenge.

The best part of the story so far is Cassidy beginning to learn what she is made of. Angel? Maybe infused with demon blood? Maybe more powerful than anyone knows?

I am eager to read the next book in the series. Great job, Ms Roach!!

I really enjoyed reading this book by new to me author D.A. Roach. I cannot wait to read many more from her.
Cassidy has more tragedy than most adults can handle. And although she is slowly sinking, she manages to carry on. While looking for a special ring left to her by her mother before dying, Cassidy finds so much more than she ever thought. Which also leads us to Killian (swoon). Absolutely filled with action if you can hang in for a little in the beginning. I really enjoyed the characters and storyline in this. And I will definitely be on the look out for more from her in the future.
