**Jasmine**
MMA champ, Cameron ‘K.O.’ Jackson, is the embodiment of every woman’s dream man. He’s smart, tall, dark, and handsome, with a bad boy twist. The only problem is, this Prince Charming doesn’t talk. That’s right. He acknowledges he can, he just…doesn’t.
The night I met him, his beauty turned my brain to mush. Then, he kissed me, and my world tilted on its axis. He was a distraction, something I didn’t need being twenty-two years old and pre-med. Besides, I had no business even thinking about a violent MMA fighter, so I walked away with no intention of seeing him again. Apparently, he had other plans.
He tracked me down, and I brushed all my objections aside, diving head first into a relationship because he intrigued me. As I get to know him, I learn he’s not the psychotic killer I thought he was, but the more I’m with him, it seems the less I know. He’s a conundrum – scary fighter and gentle giant; public figure, private man. Mystery surrounds him and no one is more curious than I am. Well, you know the saying – ‘curiosity killed the cat’. Cameron’s world is dangerous, and I’m about to learn firsthand. When it breaks down my door, will he be able to save me?

I have been reading this story way too longer than I planned on. I admit that my busy time schedule came in between, but still. Let's start with the beginning of the story. That one I loved and I found it to be quite interesting. Then I got to the middle and my interest slowly started to vanish. I felt like after the first sex scene that was all that there was, simply just too much sex! Yep, I indeed said the unthinkable, there was too much sex. Sorry but it's the truth... In the end I simply wanted to finish the story once and for all. I didn't care much how it ends, just that it does. I know it sound harsh but I wanted more from the story, more depth, more action (although there was some but the issue was, for me personally, too quickly resolved), more of everything (just not the sex). Sometime you love the story and sometimes you don't and for me it's the latter. Shit happens, right?

Amazed I pushed myself all the way to the finish line. Not sure that was a good thing considered the low rating but still . . .

Usually I try to find something positive that I liked about a story but tbh there was nothing about this that I liked.

The ending was sweet but everything that lead to that moment was so annoying/wrong/unbelievable that it couldn’t be magically fixed by finally giving us actual spoken dialogue between both MCs. It was too little too late.

Why this was a fail for me:
I never could buy into the love/romance between the MCs.

The h, Jasmine was beyond annoying. She’s a pre-med student but she sounds like a rambling idiot. She tries to come off as smart and independent but she came off as weak, materialistic and needy. I couldn’t stand her one sided conversations with Cameron. She basically interpreted his silence and “meaningful” stares any way she wanted. It didn’t make any sense.

The H, Cameron aka K.O. sounded like an interesting character but again missed his mark. Was it just me or did his actions seem more sexual predator than infatuated lover? He literally sees her once and wants her. She puts up a weak “fight” to resist him but pretty quickly, ends up naked with him. From there things pretty much are just sex, sex and you guess it! More sex.

This had zero conversations or moments where their “special” connection shines through. It literally was all about sex.

The fact that he doesn’t speak one word, when he can, he just chooses not to, for 99% of their “relationship” made me think this was a case of insta-lust and not love. I felt that his excess money spending and gift giving was his way of paying for easy access to Jasmine’s body. And lets face it, she didn’t really put up much any fight to reject the expensive clothes, the paying of her bills and the freakin car. It just all seems so creepily extravagant for practically two strangers who have barely started dating, we’re talking 1-2 months of going out a few times and basically just meeting up for sex.

I’m sorry and maybe it’s just me but all I kept thinking was gold digger and that pretty much killed any chance of romance for me. It didn’t help that the whole story is told through Jasmine’s POV and I found her ridiculous and irritating. Cameron’s POV would definitely have helped if only to provide the reader proof that he wasn’t just some rich guy that wanted a live in booty call.

Memorable Moments (for all the wrong reasons):
#1 Their first time together.
Maybe it was just the writing style but there was nothing erotic or stimulating about reading that sex scene. It was more crude than sensual and left me feeling the opposite of what the author intended. Without chemistry these scenes just left me cold and it didn’t get better. With all the sex in this read, that’s saying something.

#2 The OTT gifts
I thought it was OTT when Cameron buys all these clothes and shoes for her after only knowing her a few weeks but when Jasmine casually mentions he is “taking care of her” like a boyfriend should and accepts an ALLOWANCE from him, her mind set was gag inducing.

I mean, this is what boyfriends do, right? They take care of you. Come to think of it, he’s always spending money on me. In the last month, he’s had my car serviced and detailed, plus I’ve had weekly mani/pedis, hair appointments, and shopping trips. He even paid my bills. I guess the only difference is now he’ll be giving the money directly to me.

If that doesn’t say kept woman, I don’t know what will.

On top of all that, she also accepts a freakin Maserati as a gift from him and later finds out that with help from her dad, Cameron paid off all of her student loans. Which considering she’s a pre-med student, would be extensive. This made her completely unrelatable for me and the mention of her dad being okay with this “gift” and helping Cameron with it had me considering the fact the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in this family.

And last but not least #3 The reason behind Cameron’s silence
You learn early on that Cameron isn’t mute, he can talk, he just chooses not to. I seriously loathed reading this book put pushed myself to finish because I wanted to know what was behind the silence. When the big reveal happens, disappointment is an understatement.

The one and only time I agreed with Jasmine, Cameron’s reason for his years of silence were anti-climatic and proved finishing this was a complete waste of my time. If this is a sample of this authors writing, I’ll hard pass anything else from her.

Okay, so anyone who knows me knows I love my fighters.  And fighters with issues that need saving are even more my thing!  When I read the blurb for this book and saw that Cameron did not speak, I was on it!

So, one thing I must say I did not like is the insta-attraction/love.  Kissing like crazy only 5 minutes after meeting......I don't know.  But it did work for them.  They were insanely hot for each other!  And, if you are looking for a book with lots of sex, well, here ya go!  TONS of sex!! TONS!!!  And with Cameron not talking, it made for some interesting scenarios.  He used his body language and his eyes to reflect his feelings, and Jasmine was so good at interpreting his meaning.  She basically had conversations with herself between the two of them, answering her own questions with what she knew he was thinking or feeling.

This was a good book, and I really couldn't put it down.  I wanted Cameron to finally say something!  And I wanted it to be epic!  I wanted his first words to Jasmine to rock my world and hers.  To say I was disappointed with the reason for why Cameron was not talking is an understatement.  Even Jasmine thinks in her mind that it was "anti-climatic".  So, I just wish the reasoning for his silence had some more meaning.

The storyline was good though and I did fly through this book.

Just a 3 star for me..

I'm not really sure that me and this author click. I read one other book by her and ended up giving it 2 stars - it definitely wasn't my favorite. While I liked the concept of this story, I'm not a huge fan of the author's writing. I loved both of the MCs and I commend her for writing a story where the H mainly only has silent conversations with everyone around him. There wasn't much texting, writing on paper, or any sign language. This was a relationship built basically on the h hardly having any conversations with the H other than body language and grunts (and moans... ). That's got to be hard to write, but I think she did a good job. I don't think the story lacked because the H didn't speak.

My issue was the writing and for that reason I will probably not read another book by this author. In this case it's a "it's me, not you" kind of thing.

As a fan of all of this author's books, I have no idea why this story took me by surprise. Yes, I've come to expect "the sexy" when it comes to Ms. Sapphire's books, and we definitely get plenty of that here, but at the heart of this book is a love story between an unlikely pair who's hearts and instant chemistry call to each other, and it can't be denied.

How can an undefeated MMA champion also be the gentle giant that IS Cameron "K.O." Jackson? And then we have the heroine, Jasmine. Physically, she is different from so many heroines I've read lately, but perhaps that's why Cameron sets his sights on the pre-med student immediately, and stops at nothing to get his girl.

The book starts off with a quote by Confucius, "A superior man is modest in speech, but exceeds in his actions." This is the recurring theme throughout the entire book, and it made for a gorgeous and compelling romance!

Some readers may be bothered with the "Daddy" reference, but it only happened a couple of times, and honestly, I was so swept up with the story, that I never thought anything of it. This book was sexy, funny (some of the sassy one-liners had me laughing out loud), action, suspense, angst....in other words, this stand-alone HAD IT ALL!

Beyond the Cage was a stand-alone by Alana Sapphire. This was my first book by the author.

Cameron “KO” Jackson was a mute MMA fighter. He earned the name KO with his 100% win - 100% knock out record. He could speak but he chose to be silent.

Jasmine Carter was a pre-med student who went to her first MMA fight with her best friend. She wasn’t impressed with the fighting - although she was intrigued by the gorgeous fighter.

The premise of the story was intriguing. But in the end, I liked the idea more than I liked the reality. I craved more from KO and I couldn’t feel the connection between Jasmine and KO when he was silent. It was told from a singular POV, Jasmine’s. She had an immature personality so it was grating at times. I think I would have liked it better had the POV been from KO - for me, it would have provided more feeling, insight and depth.

I enjoyed the ending. It’s strictly a matter of opinion, but I think I would have liked it better had some incidents occurred earlier in the book and the ending focused on some of the developments. Although it wasn’t my favorite book, it was well written with a creative premise and will appeal to many.

4.3 star for the silence.

Again my love for fighters is back after Katy Evans book Remy this would be the book i would never forget. With a start which is always expected heroine goes to see the fight there she see the hero in the ring and her taught's would go running wild from anti men to i want him right now.So the start is the same.

description

Jasmine never expected to see a hot man in a place where she didn't what to go as she was more over anti-violence type .No body could ignore her because of her body so she was a hot girly. She was a confident girl with a little problem that was she did not fit in any category nor she was a black nor a white neither one could call her a blond or a black.

Well the hero of the story is a total mystery who says he can speak but never does anything more than motioning his head from side to side or showing the most cocky smile which would speak for him.He is a ideal man to prove the word "ACTIONS SPEAK MORE THAN WORDS".

This story has a very good romance ,suspense and a keep silent hero. The most confusing part was that the hero did not speak so after every page i would think may be it will hold the answer for his silence but that was in the last and i was kind of to late by that time i taught he could not speak but could hear everything.
Things i loved about the story was that the hero was sensitive, caring,a total kisses who had a love for kissing.
One thing that was very suspencing was that when the hero was asked about his family he left and made it look like a mother problem .Which actually acted as a very good diversion from the mystery of of his silence.

If we look at it with a different perspective it would look like a man wanted nothing but sex and suddenly he show up at the door steps and returns your chocolate and tells he likes u.The heroine was a little careless as she did not even think one and started going out with s mysterious fighter but if we see the starting is very much lovely and u cannot remove the stupid grim from your face. One thing that can describe k.o is that he a killing machine.

1.The silent hero who did not speak was not a actual spoiler but it makes a story a little frustrating as it is was a little difficult to understand what was going on in his mind.
2.As it a single pov it was kind of boring not to know what was going on in the heroes mind as he was the only quite character with nods and smiles.

It could've been way better....it was epically Cringeworthy and the ending was flat, I mean even the epilogue sucked.

I (yes I) CANT BELIEVE I'm saying this but there was way way too much sex, it was repeating and VANILLA with minor 'erotic flair' (note this is sarcastic, I literally yawned during half the scenes)

Not enough romance and the dude buys her:

1. A F-ing EXPENSIVE CAR a 'Maserati Quattroporte' (rolls eyes, that's where I lost respect for both characters more than I already did.)

2. A Dog 'Norwegian Elkhound (who seems to be disappear & neglected out of the starting gate)

3. Gives her money allowance (a large monthly sum, and she has no issue with spending it)

4. He Pays All of her bills

5. He Paid in Full all her student loans

6. Buys her tons of clothes

7. Takes her to ridiculous Fancy Places

8. Buys her a expensive Jewelry etc.

WITHIN A MONTH!!!

A Willing Sugar Daddy To The Max (gags).

The Reason He's Mute? was completely just tossed in and made him look like a douche, because there literally was no REAL explanation. And he talks near the end but, I fell out of love and respect for him by then.

I found the main female rather annoying, bitchy, cliched to hell, spoiled rather quickly, and OMG she hates cage fighters and closed her eyes during the fights (THEN WHY ARE YOU STILL WITH HIM?) I LOVE my cage fighters and the girl was annoylingly pussified even at the 'cliched kidnapping' part of the book.
And because of all that I wanted to stop at 6 different parts of the book but I wanted to give this book a benefit of the doubt yada yada...boy was I wrong. Should've stuck with my gut.

Not reading anymore from this author.

Alana Sapphire has yet to put out a book that I have not loved!! I enjoyed this story sooo freaking much I read it practically in one sitting.

Jasmine is dragged along to a MMA fight, she doesn't really want to be there and doesn't see the attraction, until she locks eyes with Cameron, and from that moment the story takes off. I loved it. I loved everything about this, I so want to give more spoilers but I will be good.

I will say the sexy times were so freaking HOT. The right amount of drama and lets face it.. hot fighter guy, nothing else is needed. I give this 5 stars.

"A superior man is modest in speech, but exceeds in his actions." I love this!!!!
This quote is just perfect for Cameron, he lets his actions speak volumes, both inside the ring where his opponents rightly fear him and outside where a certain Jasmine, absorbs his every thought.
I thought their initial meeting was very sweet if a teeny bit clichéd but cool your heels ladies, it didn’t temper my enthusiasm, if anything it piqued it.
Having a night out with her friend at fight night Jasmine meets Cameron and despite the fact that she just couldn’t keep her eyes off him and the fact that when they are left alone they share a unanticipated kiss, she is soon back peddling and refusing to get caught up in the whole circus that surrounds him.
Every the silent type, I think from that meeting I got a measure of the man Cameron would turn out to be, because he took what she said when she walked way and said, absolutely nothing!
I do love the strong silent type…he was going to keep not only Jasmine but me as the reader on my toes and I just couldn’t wait.
I thought it was sweet that he followed her home, some might not have thought so but it I just found it genuine and really engaging.
When they eventually find their way to a relationship I have to say that I was rooting for them, all the way! It was never going to smooth sailing there are external influences that are more than able to create mountains out of molehills and to do everything they can to ensure that what they have doesn’t go the distance but Cameron doesn’t lose, he is a champ and this is one fight that he is no intension of defeating him and luckily for him Jasmine has the same determination, they are perfect together.
Cameron was completely enigmatic and the fact that he was very reflective and verging on being almost verbally non communicative for much of the book only increased the attraction, sometimes you really don’t need words to communicate what you are thinking and feeling and Cameron could very well have been the poster boy for that particular scenario… I loved him, really he was the perfect guy, only saying what needed to be said, not adding unnecessarily to a situation or complicating anything with unwarranted word, silence can be misconstrued but in his case there was no need to doubt his silence it was when he was forced to action that you needed to take heed.
As a standalone book, this is one that will be on the repeat visit list. I found the story held my attention, and kept my eyes travelling along each and every line, I was so proud of myself…I didn’t skip one single word and that is no mean feat!

Who can resist a sexy, protective man...

Who doesn’t speak? If Cameron (aka ‘K.O.’) being an MMA fighter didn’t peak my interest than the idea that he had chosen not to speak had me jumping right in. And not speaking certainly didn’t stop Cam from achieving great success in the ring or prevent him from picking up any woman he wanted. He soon found out that Jasmine wasn’t a ring bunny and he was going to work harder than ever just to get his foot in the door. Even if she could read him without one word passing his lips…

“He may be a killer but he’s an incredible kisser.”

A touch stalker (of course only in a good way) and one hundred percent male, Cam’s moves outside of the ring had Jasmine intrigued. Me too! Why he wasn’t talking was the unspoken mystery that threaded all the way to the end of this feisty and sassy romance. There was instant sexual chemistry that set a hot and sexy tone for their relationship that burned hotly from start to finish.

“It could just be the hair-pulling, ass-smacking, “getting the shit fucked out of me” thing.”

I’m not usually a big fan of instant anything but the fireworks between these two felt just right as they communicated in ways that needed few words. There was the hint of mystery and definitely some interesting shenanigans between them and some unexpected adversaries that rounded out the story in just the right way. While the solved mystery felt a bit lacking it didn’t stop me from enjoying their sexy and sassy courtship that had just the right amount of spice. ~ Diane, 4 stars

Let me start by saying I was provided an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

Jasmine is a senior in college that shares an apartment with her BFF Chelsea. Jasmine's last boyfriend turned out to be a dud. Chelsea takes her to MMA fight, even though that's not Jasmine's cup of tea, and that event will forever Change her life.

Cameron is a smoking hot MMA Fighter with a perfect record. He is the mysterious fighter that keeps to himself until he locks eyes on Jasmine.

The way these 2 communicate is amazing and hot but will it be enough?

The author does a great job building the communication between these two characters. I love that the female character is biracial with curves. There were times where I started to get a little frustrated with how they communicated but then thought about how awesome that would be to have someone like that.

This was an amazing read about staying true to your own-self and not allowing anyone to sway you from your goals, trusting in someone completely, strong friendships and love. It is definitely worth reading.

Alana ... U need to put a warning disclaimer on this book.. PANTIES NOT REQUIRED... Super sexy and hot MMA Alpha fighter.. Not responsible for spontaneous combustion of E-reader... ( I think my kindle over heated)

I have never been engrossed and fascinated
With a fictional character like I have been with Cameron.. He just pulls you in with a single look.. (Yup a look.. Y'all know what I'm talking about when you read it)

Jasmine oh how I love her. She is the strong independent woman that you will just love.

The chemistry and between Cameron and Jas is super hot.. They are so perfect together.

I laughed, cried, got frustrated, sighed and had the biggest smile ever... Beyond the Cage is a must must must read...

Sadly this wasn't a fave of mine. This book had potential. The way they meet....ok it can happen. But it was just all a bit too fast..... Too much sex..... (I skimmed through several pages of that) And his "lack of communication" Ugh! I was frustrated with the one sided conversations. The money he spends on her.....seemed like "payment" to me. I didn't really care for her character. At. All. His intrigued me at first then I was over it. The story just all felt very repetitive. The drama around his fighting that gets her involved was boring. It could have been so much better. I think there could have been more written about his actual fights. I think if you like Insta Love and lots of sex. You'll love it.

Beyond The Cage is the story of two people who start out with an intense ATTRACTION and find their way to love. While there are some twists, and action from the cage, it is, at its core, a love story. If you're looking for the broken hero who only needs love to heal - this is NOT that book. Cameron doesn't speak. While Jasmine yearns for him to do so, she accepts him as he is. She learns to communicate with him, reading his expressions and drawing conclusions based on the context of their "conversations". Cameron is drawn to her for her looks, but stays for her mind. The fact that she doesn't try to change him, wins her his heart.

If you want a love story, you can give it a go. Please read the description and disclaimer before purchase.

I really enjoyed this first person book with the twist with the hero. I can say what it is since it's right in the synopsis, he doesn't talk. It's so intriguing with the way Jasmine and Cameron communicate. I would get so frustrated, but the little things Cameron does would sway me in a heartbeat. I like a good story with a MMA hero. This one didn't disappoint. The chemistry between Jasmine and Cameron is smokin' hot!! When Jasmine and Chelsea are together I always find myself laughing or have Cheshire smile on my face. I have to say this one is one of those book that really has it all. Love, passion, intrigue, suspense, and humor. Over all an excellent read that I would recommend.

What I really loved about Cameron and Jasmine's story is that it is one of insta-love coming from something so very painful. I so adored Jasmine as she fights her way through a nightmare to be even stronger. It's the same way for Cameron. He has been fighting to punish himself, but ends up finding himself instead. They have such chemistry together and are scorching hot. Fate has brought them together to heal and open their hearts.
I so enjoyed their story.

To me it is funny how you can go along not knowing an author and then suddenly I have read 2 books by Alana in one real quick time ... read this one and "Forbidden" ... If I am allowed a prefer this book over Forbidden ... but they are both well written ... both have strong tough dudes ... I got back and forth with MMA fighter dudes ... it depends on who is writing the book as to whether i will enjoy the read or not??! I do enjoy how Alana captured the rough and tough KO Jackson "Cameron" ... awesome fighter but a super quiet person. My hubby is super quiet ... some men (well women too) are just super quiet ... that is their nature ...a man of few words ... but when they do speak you know you better listen 'cause what they will be saying is something important ... i enjoy that thought. appreciate it too!

One of my favorite quotes "He's a tall glass of ice-cold lemonade on a scorching Texas summer day." -- Let me tell ya Texas summer day are hot is not even the right word ... they are like a oven. Just nuts!! But the visual you get ... loved it!

... I did keep waiting for something mysterious to happen ... like a ghost or some kind of skeletons in his closet so to speak ... but??! I am trying to find the name of Jasmine's best friend (roommate) but I can't recall her name suddenly ... love their close relationship. Can't wait to read more from Alana. ( ;

My husband told me I would love this book so I finally caved and read it. I LOVED THIS BOOK! I read it in one sitting and couldn’t wait for the H.E.A. It was such a fun read and knowing that he was a badass fighter made it so much more entertaining. I’m not sure why there are so many bad reviews on this book. It’s a great, quick, easy read.

The story had potential. It definitely kept me reading intrigued to find out why Cameron doesn't speak but when we do found out, Jasmine says it herself, it's an anti climax!

Because Cameron doesn't speak all they seem to do is have a lot of sex. There isn't much of a storyline.

Then the story takes a different turn which was a bit far fetched then in the epilogue 9 years later I didn't see why that had to be so traumatic!

It's OK for a free read.

When I read the blurb of this book, I couldn't wait to read it.

It started off so strong. Jasmine reluctantly goes to an MMA fight with her best friend. It's totally not her scene, but the minute her eyes meet Cameron 'K.O.' Jackson's, the attraction is undeniable. Not long after, she's whisked away and led into his change room, where he makes his move on her. But she's not some cheap tramp who'll drop her panties for anyone. Nu-uh, that ain't happening. She makes him work for it. And work for it he does.

The thing that intrigued me most about this story was the fact that the 'hero' doesn't speak. It was fun at first, but it got tiring after a while. I wanted more from him. I would've really enjoyed getting his POV in the book. It was too much of her guessing what he was trying to say. I wanted inside Cameron's head, badly!!! It would've totally added to the story.

And as I read, I was on pins and needles wondering what could've happened to him lose his voice, or just to stop speaking. I figured the reason was going to be heartbreaking. It wasn't. I was kind of let down.

Don't get me wrong this was an enjoyable read for me, and I will continue reading more from this author. I just feel that there were things missing from this story, that really could've added to the potential of it.

Beyond the Cage by Alana Sapphire

Designation: A stand-alone

Jasmine Carter is a pre-med student and gets dragged by her BFF Chelsea to a MMA cage fight. Jas is less than thrilled to be there….she doesn’t see the trill in watching men beat each other to a pulp. But then Cameron “K.O.” Jackson enters the ring and she is begins an internal mental battle with herself about how he is the hottest thing since David Beckham….for a brief moment his eyes meet hers as he leaves the cage. They end up backstage and she sees him and although he is clearly attracted to her, he doesn’t say a word. She tells him that she’s not a groupie and leaves.

Cameron doesn’t talk….to anyone. No one seems to know why….even his family said that after the Marines he just stopped talking. But he wants Jasmine and continues to get in touch with her and takes her on an adventure. He is amazingly hot and sweet all at the same time. If only he would say what he means.

So while we only hear the story from Jas’s POV, she reads his eyes and body language to tell his feelings. It is very interesting how they communicate and how Cameron arranges the most romantic dates for them. But Jasmine really longs to hear his voice….to hear him say he loves her. Will she survive her relationship with Cameron?

This really was such an amazing story! I loved the strength Jasmine showed when she had to face his siblings and although you could tell that she was important to Cameron, it was hard that he didn’t say the words when she needed to hear them. I loved when Gem came to dress up Jas for their big evening out….it was so funny how Cameron could do all these things with all these people and not say a word. I really don’t want to spoil the ride, so I have to leave out so many details. Obviously Cameron is a top MMA fighter and has women hanging on him whenever they can. Can Jasmine trust him? Will she be enough for him? What is he after with her and will he be able to get her to understand his desires? Will she stay with him if he never asks her to with words?

This was my first Alana Sapphire book and I can say for sure it won’t be my last!

Love this read!!!

Beyond the Cage is another good read from Alana Sapphire. This one is darker and grittier and shows a different side to her writing.
Cameron is 'KO' a MMA fighter who is sexy as sin with a dark quiet side. Jasmine is a very well grounded sexy young woman. With future plans. Then they meet and the chemistry is explosive and the emotional rollercoaster begins.
When I first started this book I really didn't know how I would like it but I was pleasantly surprised. This storyline is new and enthralling. The storyline flowed easily and read it in four hours. Loved not only Cameron and Jasmine but supporting characters also.
Great read and great job.

Great read. Did not skip a page. No grammatical errors I could see. Good storyline. About different than the usual stuff out there. Definitely do recommend as a good read.
