What a ride!
Cari silverwood has definitely a way with the words.
There were moments here where I thought I was going as mad as our heroine. Is this really happening? Is she dreaming? Well, I am still not sure what is this all about.
This is an intriguing and refreshing dark story with a strong inclination into the depravity.
If you don't mind stepping out of you comfort zone, this could be for you too.

I love dark, disturbing stories, but recently I haven't been able to find one that I "connect" with. Sadly, this was one of those stories for me. 'Wicked Ways' had a promising and original premise, but the story fell flat for me.

The story centers on Zorie, a university lecturer who falls under the spell of Reuben. Reuben is a mesmer, a male who can influence the thoughts and actions of susceptible females. Essentially, he is able to use mind control to force her to act out his most depraved fantasies.

Unable to speak out against Reuben, Zorie finds two unlikely allies. The first is a librarian at the university where she works named Grimm. After one date gone awry, he senses that Zorie is in some sort of danger and sets out to help her.

Mister Black inadvertently assists Zorie when he sets out to claim her for his own. As the original Mesmer, Mister Black is looking to eradicate the others. He would like to possess Zorie and make her his ultimate weapon.

Although there was plenty of action and some surprising plot twists, I never felt connected to the characters or the storyline. I would have liked to see Zorie's character be developed more fully. Maybe then, I would have cared when she was being victimized by Reuben. As it was, I felt no emotional attachment to her character whatsoever.

For most of this book I felt like the story dragged on. Mind control - Zorie tries to resist -she fails - forced sex acts -repeat. The sex scenes seemed mechanical to me as well. Perhaps this was due to my "disconnect" with the story though.

The book ends with some interesting revelations and twists. I was left wondering what would happen next, but I'm not curious enough to continue the series. For me, it was just too little, too late.

There's not a whole lot I can say without ruining the story or the reading experience for others. So, I'm going to keep it simple.

General Thoughts

A very unique story. It is the first book I've ever read that went so in depth on what it'd be like to having someone mind control you.

Because of the mind games, the beginning was a bit rough & difficult for me to understand. The book didn't really get it's hooks into me until about 35%, but the wait was totally worth it. Great story.

Characters

I love me a good villain & this book did not disappoint. Every male in this book is an anti-hero type of some sort, ranging from - fcking hate you, to mysterious, to love you & your bad boy self.

Zorie (the main character) is smart, witty, clever - basically the antithesis of tstl heroines. She is also the strong & independent type. Which in some ways made her situation all the worst.

Dark Erotica

It mostly definitely is that. However, since I'm one sick puppy, I was disappointed that the worst of it happen off page. Oh, don't worry! Plenty still happens on page, those warnings in the book blurb are there for a reason after all ;)

Series

Not really a standalone since some questions go unanswered but not a cliffhanger either. Just the right amount to set you up for wanting the next book in the series.

Overall

Recommended to people who like dark erotica, mind games, & strong heroines.

PS
No werewolves or shapeshifters in the book.
If you read this in the book blurb - Now she's stronger, smarter, and she avoids the wolves. - and like me thought werewolves, nope it was meant as a personality trait.

Not quite sure what I actually think of this story, I enjoyed it and was on the edge of my seat squirming sometimes for the right reasons and others for totally wrong. oh what a tangled web we weave, certain characters had deep secrets that I am looking forward to discovering, It was quite a shock to discover Grimm was not quite what he seemed, I found Mr Black a tantalizing intriguing man who seemed to be fighting his emotions which I'm sure are buried very deep , I would imagine Zori is going to need a very big shovel if she's wanting to uncover his heart. Don't get me started on Reuben and his cronies I am so glad they got there just desserts although I will say some of the scenes involving Zori, Reuben and cohort's were uncomfortably hot in an icky wrong way. I am also hoping Mr Black is going to up his game and act more honourably, here's hoping Zori is a good influence and brings forth his better side .overall I found this an interesting read and am looking forward to seeing where this story will go .

Leigh's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Well, that was certainly….something. I’m almost at a loss for words.

Wicked Ways was one of those books that I finished and had to just sit there for a few minutes, asking myself “What did I just read??” It was disturbing and dark. But it was also erotic and captivating and I couldn’t put it down. It had me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what was going to happen.

In a storyline that I found refreshingly unique, we learn about mesmers, people that can control someone else by entering their mind. They are not hypnotists, but rather take over the person’s urges, actions, and thoughts, all while the subject is aware of what is going on. This was fascinating to me, to think about the implications of appearing to do something of your own free will when you truly have no control over anything. It was scary and chilling and intriguing all at the same time.

Zorie is a woman who seems to call to mesmers, and attracts the attention of Reuben, who I have to say is one of the more depraved characters I’ve ever read. He collects women for his own purposes, and the thoughts he puts in their heads are just evil. He repeatedly pulls Zorie in and lets her go, knowing that he will call to her again, and I couldn’t figure out what would be worse: the acts while they happened or the anticipation and dread of knowing it would happen again.

But while there were some characters who were pure darkness, some of the men in the story, like Mr. Black, were more shades of gray. As a mesmer that shares the same abilities as Reuben and can attract and ensnare a woman in the same way, his tactics are more darkly erotic than evil. He was not always likeable, but he was sexy and you just knew there was more to him than met the eye.

Similarly, there was Grimm. He always appeared as Zorie’s savior, rescuing her despite her inability to tell him what was happening. He was kind and strong, but you know there has to be more to this man than what meets the eye.

Wicked Ways is just the tip of the iceberg and I can’t wait to find out more in the next book in this series. I went into this story not knowing what to expect. I knew it would be dark, but I didn’t realize quite how sinister or how fascinating. Just like her characters, I feel like I’ve had a spell cast over me. This story stayed with me long after I was finished reading it and I’m eagerly anticipating the next installment.

WOW! This was such a different story from any other dark reads that I have read. For someone to get into your mind and bend you to his will is CRAZY!
Reuben is a mesmer and Zorie is a woman that is susceptible to his mind control. The first time she encounters him she doesn't really understand what is happening to her but she had no control over the feelings she was feeling. When he and his goons were done with her they left but Reuben told her they would meet again. And they did! It took a while before he found her again but when he did - holy cow the stuff they did to her...just wow!
As much as I hated Reuben and his two cronies I loved Grimm and Mister Black. Mister Black is patient Zero, it seems that he is the mesmer of all mesmer's and although he can control Zorie much like Reuben does he chooses his involvement with her differently, he isn't after bending her to his whims although he is very attracted to her. What he wants with her may seem even more sinister....he wants to use her to get rid of all the mesmers. Which is a strange concept since he is one himself but I'm sure his reason are good ones. Now as for Grimm Heller, the librarian, there is much more than meets the eye with this hottie. He's a former bouncer so you know he's built like a brick wall and his tattoos are something I would love to trace but it's his kindness that grabbed me and didn't let go. I have to know more about him because he is hiding secrets...very big secrets.
There was a LOT of sex being had in this book and the majority of it was non-con or dubious consent, and there were some interesting objects used for masterbation.
As much as I loved this book, I think I need a light fluffy read next before I dive into Wicked Weapon (the second book in this series) but I will be back because I am dying to know what will happen next with Zorie!

Wicked Ways (Dark Hearts Series) by Cari Silverwood deserves more than 5 stars in my opinion. It is the perfect amount of dark, other books claim to be dark but can be either light and fluffy or never go dark enough for me but this definitely does and if you enjoy dark reads this is definitely the book for you!

It's refreshing to read a book by an author who isn't afraid to be edgy or break boundaries and Cari Silverwood does just that with Wicked Ways. I love the concept of mesmers that she uses in the story it's unique and original which is the common thread of all books written by Cari Silverwood as no two books are the same.
The book is gritty, raw, and will play on your emotions more than once while you say to yourself, should I really be reading this? Let alone loving it? and the guilt may set in especially when reading about the birdcage scene.

I love all the characters and I honestly cannot make up my mind as to whom I love more between the men Mr Black or Grimm. Mr Black is very dominant, mysterious and intriguing while Grimm comes across as a nice guy but I've a feeling that he hasn't even began to surface yet and that he will become a powerful and bigger figure within the next book. There's definitely more to meet the eye and I can't wait to find out if I'm right. Normally I resonate more with the villains in the story but with Reuben I didn't he is just evil! Not going to talk about Zorie the lead female in case I spoil the story for some.

I would highly recommend this book for people of a mature audience who loves dark reads with a fantastic storyline that will keep you gripped till the last page. I can't wait for book 2.

In for a penny, in for a pound. I recently got a haul of dark contemporary romances with non-con scenes (woohoo!) that included Cari Silverwood's Wicked Ways.

Cari Silverwood calls herself a romance writer of dark kink with paranormal tendencies, and Wicked Ways is about a woman, Zorie, susceptible to mesmers, people who can control other people's minds.

Mesmers can't control everyone's minds. We don't get an explanation why only some people are susceptible, or if it's only men who can be mesmers and women who can be mesmerized. I hope we get more world-building on this other than Mister Black's explanation that the women who can be mesmerized are basically ruined for any love interest that are mesmers. But for those people that mesmers have an effect on, they can force people to do and say things against their will.

In 200 or so pages, most of the story uses this mesmer gift to provide Zorie with a paranormal get-out-of-jail card to enjoy humiliating, and often, public acts ordered by mesmer Reuben and his group of bros. She also comes across Mister Black, a mesmer intent on taking down Reuben.

I might have skimmed this but I have completely forgotten why Mister Black decides to ask Zorie to be a weapon to take down Reuben. We know nothing of Mister Black's past other than that he used to be like Reuben but is now trying to take mesmers like him down. Is he part of an organization?

I'm not really sure. I need more clarity of his whole deal and I hope I get in the upcoming stories because I plan to finish the series. It's pretty sexy lol.

I didn’t have an emotional connection to any of the male characters, so I hope Mister Black or Grimm become more interesting. To be honest, Reuben was the most intriguing, most likely because we couldn’t be in his head. I guess it also shows how messed up I am haha.

This is well-written, but know that if you are reading this, the non-con smut is the highlight!

4 dark and twisted stars!

I don't even know where to start with this one, it's dark, kinky and a total mind fuck, definitely my kind of book!

There are people in this book who have the power of mind control, a power they use for nefarious purposes, mainly enslaving and debasing beautiful women. Yes it's a little crazy but I really enjoyed it.

Reuben was entirely despicable. I wanted to kill him with fire, bring him back and do it all over again.

Mister Black was a totally different animal to Reuben. He's still a manipulative ass but I found him much more likeable and even a little charming. I was rooting for him to come and take Zorie throughout the book but with that said I was still a bit confused on how I felt about the ending.

A good one to ass to the list if you like your romance dark and super twisted,

I’ve been waiting with bated breath for Cari Silverwood to release Wicked Ways, her first installment in a new dark erotica series, Dark Hearts. Her Pierced Hearts series is one of my top favorites and was so sad to see it come to a conclusion. The Dark Hearts world is not connected, so no need to read that first, though I absolutely would. Wicked Ways introduces us to Zoire, an academic professional, who has come under the influence of Reuben, a very bad man with very bad intentions. He’s a mesmer, able to bend the will of a woman by invading her brain, rendering her incapable of saying no. To anything. Reuben has competition by the name of Mister Black. He may not seem as ruthless and uncaring as Reuben, but he has an agenda all the same, and it includes making Zoire into the perfect weapon.

For sensitive readers out there, this is dark erotica even darker than Cari Silverwood has ventured into before. Read the warning she posts if you have any reservations. Reuben has no redeeming qualities, a truly evil man who enjoys using women for sex and money, leaving them a shell of themselves, or worse. Make no mistake, Zoire can’t help but enjoy the orgies that Reuben orchestrates for her degradation. He body says yes even when her mind is trying to overcome the influence and say no. I was left enjoying things I knew I should abhor, which is the mindfuck that is Cari Silverwood’s dark erotica. We become Zoire in a way, captivated like a deer in the headlights. Mister Black is a mesmer as well and has no qualms exerting his influence over Zoire, but he seems to temper it with a bit of conscience, making him someone I wanted to see Zoire completely surrender to. The sex is dirty, hot, sometimes in multiples (gang bang style!), and for some, just on the edge of what they can take in a story meant to turn them on. For me, it skirted that edge deliciously. I enjoyed the slightly paranormal angle involving mesmers, as it really allows a lot of freedom and possibility to the story. I can’t forget Grimm, Zoire’s unlikely librarian protector that always seems to show up at the right moment to save the day. He wants a piece of Zoire too. I can’t wait to see what type of a character he develops into. This is a series that will clearly build from book to book, so don’t expect a clean resolution to tie everything together. Wicked Ways is, without a doubt, one of the more unique and intriguing erotic stories I’ve read in forever. Kudos to Cari Silverwood for always keeping it fresh and interesting. I’m hooked once again!

I had been seriously having some dark erotica withdrawal, then Cari Silverwood finally wrote the first book in her new series.

About damn time!

If you're a fan of Silverwood's Pierced Hearts series, then you need to get your grubby little paws on Wicked Ways, the first book in the Dark Hearts series. If you thought the men in Pierced Hearts were bad, then you need to buckle up because you are in for a very wild ride.

Ruben is a man with zero redemeing qualities. I wanted to kill the son of a bitch myself. He uses his powers to control women, to use them for his sick and twisted sexual pleasure and to empty their bank accounts. Once they're no longer of use, he gets rid of them.

And poor Zorie…she wanted nothing to do with Ruben but she just had no choice, no matter how hard she fought. All she wanted was to get Ruben out of her life so she could continue to live hers.

Then we have Mr. Black. The man who believes he is one of the first mesmers, but unlike Ruben, he may not be quite as terrible, but he has an agenda that includes Zorie, whether she wants to be included or not.

This book is full twists and turns. Just when you expect something to happen, something you never even suspected happens instead. The sex scenes are steaming hot and and not lacking. There were even a few that I knew I shouldn't have enjoyed as much as I did, but I couldn't help myself. Dark erotica readers will not be disappointed in Cari Silverwood's latest novel and you will be begging for more!

~ARC gifted by the Author in exchange for a honest Review~

I've read other books of Cari Silverwood and she still remains to be one of my favorite authors. I think her stories just reaffirms her talent at storytelling. Not all Dark authors can do dark, Cari does dark and does it well.

Wicked Ways is wicked, intense, dark if you're looking for a sweet story this isn't it. But what an amazing read.

What are you in for? Control and not something light but all encompassing, so ingrained you have no choice but to follow orders. Imagine being told what you're thinking, or answering your question even before being asked. That that is only scratching the surface from the clothes you wear, to the very air you breath. Your choices are no longer yours, you're as a puppet on a string.

Ruben the gorgeous male you want to hate, he's intelligent, rich and powerful and wields the power like the had of god...Ruthless, Violent and without remorse.

Mr. Black is the enigma, a male cut of the same cloth as Ruben but yet not. A smoother side of him, but less dangerous? time will tell.

Zorie smart, well to do Professor, she has it together for the most part, a past tradgedy still lingers about the edges of her thoughts. When she is approached by a stranger while on vacation her life as she knew is over. What Zorie is now she doesn't even know. Who will handle the fragile flower? Grimm? Ruben? Mr. Black?

I recommended this book, know this isnt' rainbows and unicorns. Enjoy!

Uf...ok, what? I feel like I just tried some exotic drug, a mind-bending hallucinogenic one.

This is one of the warped-est but at the same time finest mindfuckeries I've ever read and it has kept me completely mesmerized (silly pun intended, it was asking for it).

Wicked Ways is the type of book that will make you hate it or love it. It's too disturbing and it's a non-stop play on your emotions, it can't leave you indifferent or bored.

First I should confess that I love the theme of mind control and it's something scarce in erotica or erotic romance...and it goes together with non-con so I guess it's not to everyone's liking.

The mesmers are individuals who have developed the ability to mind control certain susceptible women, it is not explained how it came to happen or when it started and why (I hope it'll be explained later in the series). In this book we read about 2 mesmers - there's a third one but his role is not big, yet -, Reuben and Mr. Black. Reuben is a monster and you'll want to kill him slowly and horribly, Ramsay Bolton-style from Game of Thrones kill him, he's cruel, remorseless and a psycho, plus his style of mind control is like using a battering ram, crass and forceful. Mr. Black is the opposite, all finesse and suave control - too suave - but we still have to see his true self, I'm not sure about him yet. Can a mesmer truly be a good guy?

Then there's the fmc, Zorie, who's the victim because she's one of the few women susceptible to mesmerism, and at the same time she becomes an unwilling accomplice. She does terrible things under control but also enjoys them and that's breaking her inside.

Also, the other MMC would be Grimm who remains an enigma by the end of the book...will he become a mesmer? Mmmm

There are plenty of explicit and strong sex scenes, rough sex with multiple partners when the FMC is mind-controlled, if non-con/dub-con is your thing, this is for you. I personally found it f*cking hot.

The story is told from different POVs and it's especially interesting to see Zorie's view on her abuse and how it's affecting her, as well as how the mesmers' influence breaks havoc inside her mind, the author does make you feel her angst in a very intense way.

If you are a sensitive person or do not enjoy very rough sadistic sex, you should avoid this. This is highly recommended for readers of truly dark reads, you won't be able to stop reading. I don't know if I'll be able to go to sleep now or I'll simply go on to the next book.

Wicked Ways, is a new Dark Erotica from author Cari Silverwood. I had read a few of her Pierced Hearts series, and loved the dark, twisted and overall edginess of them. So I assumed it would be the same sort of feel to this new story of hers. Wicked Ways is completely different from anything I have read of Cari's before, and completely different from anything else I had read, full stop.

So to start with, If I'm completely honest, I did struggle to get into the story. I felt like it was jumping straight into the action, yet it was a little confusing. Although it's not listed as being in any way paranormal, it does have a chilling and mysterious mystical edge to the story. I won't go into details on that particular element of the story, as it should be experienced as part of the process. Anyway, so the first few chapters jumped straight in, and I mean literally jumped in. But it felt like what was happening was a dream, or a little foggy and fast, which is probably the intention, but my brain struggled a bit to start with.

Anyway, after a few chapters things started to slow down, and I felt like I could fully take stock of who everyone was, and their purpose in the story. I could actually decide if I was enjoying what I was reading.
Well, it was definitely different, that is for sure. I loved the whole element of the 'Mesmers' and the power they held, in fact I would love to have seen the full extent of what they were capable of, on a broader scale, not just on women in a controlling sense.

I did love Zorie, and her strength. The fact that she could be strong enough to battle these men, was definitely something that I could get on board with. I also loved Grimm, he had potential to be an awesome character, but we didn't really get to know him all that well.

As an opening to this world, where Mesmers exist, it was a good story. It set the scene, and introduced us to these sorts of men, and their power really well. I wanted more, and to learn more from this world. I would like to see more of what they could do.

A quick, dark and interesting read. 4 stars.

I love reading work by Cari Silverwood because her writing takes you on a journey into the deepest darkest worlds that could possibly be out there, the men and women get caught up in dark and twisted adventures and i read them half the time with my mouth agape wondering how she comes up with these stories but never being able to put them down. This story is no different, it jumps straight into the action and dark delights she writes so well. Zorrie is manipulated in so many ways but also tries so hard to not be swept away and destroyed mentally and physically by the forces of these the two wicked men Mister Black,Grimm and Reuben. Will winning the mind or heart of Zorrie be the thing each wants or does one want her as a whole package. A very dark and erotic suspenseful story

**Just finished...Review to follow...I need time to gather my thoughts...What an experience!!**

Deliciously Dark, Disturbing, Dirty and I loved every minute!!

After reading Wicked Ways I can honestly say that Cari Silverwood is the epitome of Dark Erotica. As the story progressed, I began to feel like Alice dropped down into a twisted rabbit hole and landing in a dark perversion of Wonderland.

Cari has created a phenomenal cast of characters and a well written unique storyline involving Mesmers that will challenge the reader in ways they couldn’t imagine. Most authors dance around the edges of dark erotica but Ms. Silverwood goes straight for the jugular and makes no apologies! That is why I am sooo addicted to her literary works and Wicked Ways is no exception. Readers will be both shocked and fascinated, unable to put the book down, as they will feel compelled to continue on out of curiosity. If I didn’t know better, I would swear that Cari is practicing some hidden Mesmer skills of her own as she weaves her erotic tales. LOL!!

Everyone who reads Wicked Ways will come away with different thoughts and opinions about the men in Zorie’s life. I am going to be in the minority here, but I loved Reuben’s manipulation of Zorie and the various sexual acts he made her perform. Zorie’s strength and independent nature called out to him like a moth to a flame begging to be broken. He couldn’t help himself much less walk away from the challenge she presented. Zorie's struggle against his influence is titillating, arousing, and without a doubt some of the best erotica I've ever read!!

On the other hand, I think Mr. Black is worse than Reuben because his agenda is subtle and more devious, not in your face like Reuben. He wants to turn Zorie into a weapon, but will he be able to control her once he is done? Will there be anything left of her humanity? Mr. Black’s plans may ultimately have serious consequences for the human race, not just Zorie. His evil schemes seem far grander than those of Reuben.

And Grimm, well I don’t think he is the knight in shining armor that we are led to believe. He may turn out to be the most evil of all. The way he always seem to be there for Zorie whenever she is in trouble. What is he really up to? He is a hard one to figure out, but there is something about him I just don’t trust.

Wicked Ways is a very intense and intriguing piece of erotica that will stay with you long after you are finished. I recommend this book for the mature & truly hardcore readers who aren’t squeamish about the total violation or annihilation of a person’s self for pleasure or profit. It is dark, disturbing, and loaded with kink that will curl your hair! I am sooo looking forward to the second book entitled Wicked Weapon.

I received this ARC from the author for an honest review.

Wow. If you like it really very dark, then Wicked Ways is definitely for you. This book might be too much for some people, but I loved every page.

First of all, I'd never even considered the ability to hypnotize someone into doing your bidding in such a fashion as the mesmers in Wicked Ways. Now that I've read this book, I'm absolutely terrified of the villains within. That alone is terrific, that Cari Silverwood was able to bring me subject matter that I'd never even heard of.

As for the mesmers... they're all bad guys in Wicked Ways. Some are definitely more bad than others. And Zorie is the prey, left defenseless to their ways. Imagine having full mental awareness, but not being able to control your body and not able to control your impulses. These men decide if you feel pain or pleasure, fear or joy, and they have no problem treating you like their puppet.

Wicked Ways also deals with kidnapping and captivity, a theme I really love seeing in my dark erotica. I really loved how it was presented in such a unique and wholly terrifying way. Seriously. Some of the things that Zorie goes through in this book had me holding my breath because I wasn't sure how the outcome would go.

Zorie herself is a likeable character. I felt bad for her, and in the small moments when she was able to regain her self-awareness, I was happy for her. Reuben is as evil as they come. There wasn't a single moment where I liked this man. And Mr Black? He seemed to walk the line. He's a mesmer, but he also seemed to genuinely care about Zorie's well-being. And Grimm? Well, let's just say that never everything is as it seems with that librarian.

So yeah. If you are looking for something very dark that is hot and scary, then this is definitely the book for you. But take heed to the warnings. However, odds are, if you are considering it, then the warnings won't matter much to you anyway. Definitely a fascinating read!!

I love books like this, books you find hard to put into catagories because technically it dips it feet into so many!

So, I received this book yesterday afternoon and by noon today, I'd devoured it, and if I hadn't had stopped and watched a movie with my kiddies last night I would have finished it much sooner. I could NOT put it down!

Certain writers come along that leave you breathless, leave you in awe of their talent and leave their story firmly planted in your head for the rest of your life and Cari Silverwood has just done that to me. I'd never delved into Cari's books before this one and well, THANK GOD I HAVE NOW! Awesome, awesome penmanship. Her style is unlike many I've read before and I love it! So succinct and direct and so bloody effortlessly descriptive you are 'in' the book from the moment you start. I freakin love books that drag me in like this. It's a rare talent and Cari has it in spades.

This story might not sit well with some, but blimey, don't go all judgy people on the whos, whys, whats and wherefores... just enjoy the journey. Some of the text has you squirming so bad you want to literally grab the gun and do the deed yourself and some of the text has you undeniably hot under the collar that you're questioning your sanity being by turned on!
You find yourself routing for people you never thought you would and the twist... top class twist indeed!

As you can tell I'm excited about this series, I cannot wait to read on and see where this is going. It's unique, scary, mesmerising and a read I would recommend over and over again to people who love their dark reads. Be prepared to be shocked, turned on and want to do damage, be prepared for this book to take over your life till you've finished it. Yes it's that good. A six star read easily for me.

I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review, and honestly I haven't raved about it enough, go get this book now and see for yourself!

Mesmers are men who can control certain women. When they tell them to do something they can't disobey. Not only was this about mind rape but physical rape. Mesmers made Zorie do all kinds of depraved sexual things, and she liked it although she didn't truly want it.

All of the men were dispicable. Mr. Black was better than the other mesmers, but he still wasn't good. I think Grimm was meant to be the good guy. He was good in the sense that he didn't want to Zorie to get hurt, but in the end he wasn't any better than the rest of them.

Nothing truly interesting happened until the end, but I don't care enough to read the next book. I didn't like any of the characters including Zorie. What she went through was horrible, but I couldn't connect with her. In the few instances where she had control she usually did something stupid. This had potential but was too depraved and lacked emotion.

I received a copy of Wicked Ways (Dark Hearts #1) by Cari Silverwood in exchange for an honest review.
I adored this book. A woman forced to submit to men using mind control. This is a fantastic twist on a dark romance novel. There are so many twists and turns in Wicked Ways. The sex scenes were Hot and very graphic at times with multiple partners, BDSM, and many more intense situations. There were a few scenes where i had no idea how to react, they were a first for me, very dark and cruel yet somehow enticing.
Zoire, our heroine is a a good girl in many ways, well educated a little uninteresting and common to begin with, until she meets Reuben. Reuben is a mesmer, a man who can control certain women and make them do whatever he wants them to. It's a terrifying thought and really there is a lotabout him you shouldn't like. However, Cari Silverwood's writing completely captures you and alters you imaging of eight and wrong.

A very intense read but well worth it.

Wicked Ways (Dark Hearts – Book #1) is an intriguing read - a “Mesmer” controlling the will of select women. And as it so happens Zorie is one of the lucky (or not so lucky) woman selected as a plaything.

There are three main male characters who have an impact on Zorie’s existence. Reuben – he is sick, twisted and very dark with his desires; Grimm – the quiet librarian, who happens to know bad people that can get bad things done and finally Mister Black – there is more to be known about him, he also has dark desires, but seem much more tame than Reuben (at least for now anyway).

Wicked Ways ended leaving me feeling like “What, Wow, Really???!!!!!” and so on to Wicked Weapon – Dark Hearts #2 I got to see what is in store for Zorie.

I was hooked from beginning to end! Zorie has become one of the collected, Reuben is a Mesmer and is using Zorie for his sexual play toy. Rueben is not the only one who wants Zorie, Mr. Black and Grimm Heller have plans for her as well. Now she must decide who is the lesser of these evil men. If you are a fan of dark reads, this is a must not miss. The sex is sizzling and the characters really draw you in whether you hate them or love them. Looking forward to more. Great Read!
