I was excited about the book, and I was really into the story as it started off with Pierce. But, as much as I tried, I couldn't stick with it. The heroine was very difficult for me to appreciate. I understood Pierce to an extent, and his actions. Princess (I also had a difficult time getting over the name. Maybe because I have 3 daughters and reading 'princess' puts me in the mind of a Disney character, so it may be a personal bias) was extremely difficult for me to relate to on any level. And, in reading about her as a character I was detached from, I still couldn't logically understand why she did half of what she did, or why Pierce was even attracted to her instead of put off. Well, I guess there was physical attraction. But, I look for more that connects characters to get invested in the story. I continued to read, hoping that I'd reach that 'Aha' moment and it would all make sense. But, at 50%, I appreciated Princess even less and still could not figure out the attraction, or exactly what it was that was pulling the characters. It felt like they were just thrown together for the story's sake.
I did not want to rate the book since I didn't complete it. But, I did want to leave a review as I agreed to do so when receiving the ARC. I understand that my review doesn't reflect everyone's preferences in books, this is simply how I personally felt. I just had no desire to read about Princess anymore.
