I'm the author of Follow Your Fantasy, Harper Impulse. It's a very different twist on Erotica and the idea came to me in bed - alone. Unfortunately for me, my best Erotica only gets written when I'm single and a second book is in progress. When I'm not writing books, I'm writing 4 blogs, writing in at writer's group, Madrid Writer's Club, critiquing friend's writing...yep, pretty much writing is my life! Other than I date a lot (and write it up!), move around a lot (7 countries and counting), and have a crippling addiction to sugar and jigsaws.
I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. This book is about 14o pages so it is a 'just right' size. This book is somewhat different than your usually books. It lets you select how the story goes...so I am not sure if that is why I had a hard time following it or not. I still was glad to have the book and have a change to try something new. This is a nice book to get your 'feet wet' in when you are starting to read erotica. Overall a Good Book to read.
The concept of choose your own smut story seemed fun and refreshing but it was ....strange. I don't think it really worked with the story. I chose what would be the sauciest option and it still wasn't up to par for me. But then again the adventures were not all the crazy. Call and go to a party or wait till tomorrow or go have a three some or take jewelry back . I'd say go and try it out but it wasn't for me. Maybe I just like when an author tells me the story and I tend to mess it up?

I am not sure what to say about this book. I was warned of intense sexual scene and I am not offended by Erotica so long as there is a true plot to the story. Other than reading of one woman's spiral into the dark world of sexual bed-hopping and losing all sense of self-worth. I could find no reason in the book other than having her run from one sexual encounter into another.
I applaud Ms Jane in her imagination and talent in putting so many scenarios together to streamline one scene to another. I just wish she had taken a moment to give a meaning to why the reader's character does what she does. What makes her value herself so little? This book did not appeal to me, but it may to others. I was expecting something along the mysteries and adventures I read when I was much younger where the clues were given according to the direction you chose to take. I am sorry to say I did not enjoy this book nearly as much as I did them.
This story explores the sexual fantasy concept in a deeper, darker way. Using an alter ego the fantasies are more risqué and there is always the ‘get out’ alternative at the end of each chapter. I enjoyed reading this essentially light hearted series of shorts and the concept remains innovative and original, something that is refreshing in the erotica genre. There is even a ‘fantasy map’ at the end of the book to ensure you haven’t missed anything. If you like to explore the adult fantasies of others this is definitely worth a read. I received a copy of this book from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Firstly, I think the concept to these books is fantastic. Secondly, When I found out there was to be a second book in the Follow Your Fantasy range, I was curious to see how it would differ from the first because I thought the first one was just good. I did have a few issues with it and I didn’t think it was very sexy at all, but as like most debut reads, the author will always continue to get stronger and figure out what their readers want. I had fun with it nevertheless, so, I was excited to be getting started.
I’m so disappointed. I had such high hopes, but yet again it just really isn’t for me. Yet again it just was not sexy in the slightest. And I’m sorry but if you’re putting out a book in the erotica section it at least has to be slightly sexy, am I right?
So, bearing in mind here, I’m no prude, I understand everyone has different needs and traits, but some of the stuff in here is just plain weird. For example, you know the fairy tale, Rumpelstiltskin? Well that being told and used as foreplay and eventually penetration with paintbrushes was just fucking bizarre. I mean come on! an ugly little fucking dwarf? Vomit worthy.
I managed to finish all the scenarios in about two hours, so it’s a quick read that you can pick up and put down continually so it makes it feel like you’re reading a new novella each time. Obviously, I’ve got to give credit where it’s due though, and there has been some extremely hard work gone into this read. It’s not just one novella, it’s as many as you want it to be. That takes great talent.
The depth and plot in book two is way better than it was in book one, and even though the majority of the time it just finishes and leaves you with a million questions, you kind of just let it go because of what the book is. Now, I don’t actually know if that’s a good thing or not. Do you know what I mean?
I think one of my main points of concern with it was when you got to the options for what you want to do next. They are too far too detailed. It’s like, Do you want to go here? And do this? And do that? Which is all good and well, but then it carries on with, ‘And then this will happen.’ Now, I don’t want to know what’s coming up, I want intrigue, surprises and fun. This takes all that out of it. There’s no need for it to be so detailed at all. I think what makes it worse is that the other option given will be like, or go home?
Character wise you are influenced by an escort named, Giselle. Who you seriously resemble and are seriously jealous of. I found this strange, not the jealous part, but because it’s hard enough trying to settle into the concept where in which you are the actual character you’re reading about. It’s like you need to be an actress of your imagination, so to try getting into that mindset then have you then wanting and trying to be someone else was just madness and off putting. I honestly could not put myself into this read no matter how hard I tried. It’s such a shame too because this is something different, something special and it’s the chance to be the star of your own show isn’t it? I also found ‘me’, naive, childish, thick, and needy. I did not like me at all.
Overall, I’ve given this book a lot of slack, I know, but there are a few of the stories that aren’t so bad and that you can enjoy. I didn’t find them sexy, but then I’m not everyone. You might. I’d most definitely recommend it to you though regardless of what I’ve said because the concepts fun and it’s exciting to pick your own way through.

P.S. Can we stop with calling genitalia fucking sex please? It burns my head out.
Didn't realize this was the 2nd one, probably wouldn't have requested it if I had. The concept is interesting as I love follow your own adventure stories. I was excited for an erotica one. Unfortunately, it's rather boring. Perhaps it could be better with longer stories, better writing and/or more detailed sex scenes? I dunno. It seems like the stories that I liked ended quickly and the stories I didn't like went a little longer. Initially I took my own path which ended up being the first story of going to Giselle's and having her play with me. It was OK. Concept wise, I liked it. Execution wise, it was short and on the boring side. The sexual stuff just wasn't very, it was rather tame. And Giselle is very very unlikable over all.
The only other story I even half way liked was the ice with the magician. It was better than the others, but still rather short and tame.
I followed the plot map for all the other stories and except for the 2 mentioned, were bored by all of them and/or disliked some. Just was dull, and not exciting, and really only qualified for an erotica because it was detailed. Detailed but very very boring. Won't try the first one, or any others, sadly.
The idea of choosing where you want the story to go sounded amazing, it had so much potential.
The stories were hot enough but I just couldn't sympathize with Giselle, she was not a likable character and being completely honest I wouldn't want to hang out with her. Not even for the thrill.
I got that humiliation was sort of the main character's thing, but maybe that's why I just didn't connect on a deeper level, not my cup on tea.
The sex scenes are hot and the characters are weird and sexy. Leon's whole participation was the best scene provably.
If I had to choose something to change it would be to give some other types of sex scenes and encounters to the readers, just so that the choices gave them different sex scenarios and maybe they could find their drug of choice.
Another great read and I'm so glad to see the series continue. I also really appreciate the disclaimer at the front. The only downside for me was I'm not a massive fan of Giselle as a character and she plays a fairly large part in the book this time, especially at the start, which is probably why I found it harder to get into at first. However that said I really loved all the other scenarios, especially the Rumplestiltskin one, which was very clever. The Leon ones were also excellent with the dominance games and interesting jewellery. I also enjoyed the water sports, I've never read of it in mainstream erotica before. I think it's great and intriguing to include different kinks, although I am also aware that one person's kink is another person's squick, so the less common ones are probably unlikely to enter generally published media.
Ok so I received this Arc from Netgalley for an honest review with that being said....
I didn't realize this was #2 in the series so I don't know if this is better or worse than the first one. I chose this book cause 1 I liked the cover and 2 because you as the reader could choose the destination of the character. This aspect was intriguing and I wanted to see where it would take me. I feel if the story had been able to develop more I think it would be better & it would flow easier. A few of the scenes where hot but could have been better. I liked this book well the concept of it anyway but it did not wow me. I can't say that I would buy it or recommend it either. Just not for me!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and learnt something too. I have read this book twice and had two totally different experiences. The first time I ended up having sex with a famous footballer in his car and the second I went to Giselle's house and had a lesson in different vibrators ending up in a promotional video with her. So you can see there are some interesting experiences to be had all of which are listed at the end of the book or of course you can just have fun experimenting yourself
