An unyielding human with deadly skills from generations of training versus a dangerous werewolf with a heart of compassion. Who wins over Eliza’s heart?
***Due to sexually graphic content and language that some may find offensive, this book is intended for mature readers only***
Eliza lives in the quiet town of Birkbridge, Indiana, where nothing big ever seems to happen. As the daughter of a legendary wartime correspondent, Eliza feels as though she has large shoes to fill. Sadly, her own career as a reporter at the local news station is beginning to feel dull, and her once-ambitious boss, Jim, is failing to live up to his former appeal in the industry. Instead, he sends Eliza to report on boring, crowd-pleasing events, like their country livestock fair. As if Midwestern life wasn’t boring enough already…
With the arrival of two handsome brothers, the lives of Eliza and her best friend, Melissa, are shaken to the core. For Eliza, the arrival of this new man, Hayden, becomes a test of her relationship with her current boyfriend, Andrew, who she’s been happily living with for over six years. To make matters worse, Eliza also suspects that her mysterious admirer may have more secrets than his calm demeanor reveals.
Eliza struggles to negotiate her professional and private life, while also dealing with an adversary from her past. When the opportunity to investigate Hayden’s past arises, Eliza simply can’t resist; she leaves the normality of her comfortable life behind and takes a leap into the unknown.
Does Hayden, a complete stranger, really wield the power to make Eliza reconsider her relationship with Andrew?
Darla has been interested in paranormal romance since she was a teenager in high school. It was then that she discovered she could fulfill her fantasies through her writing.
Observing people and human behavior in the area of romance has always been one of her favorite pastimes. Combining that with an overactive imagination is a sure fire way of coming up with interesting themes.
Eliza is in a stagnant relationship with her boyfriend from her school days, Andrew. She is not sure what is wrong with them, but they pretty much each do their own thing with their own friends. While out with her girlfriends she meets a man, Hayden, that makes her feel, and that is something that has been missing with Andrew. Their life together has no adventure, no spark, everything is so routine. To top it all off, Eliza's best friend, Melissa, wants to date Hayden's brother, Theo, and drags Eliza along with her. Eliza will soon learn that everything she thought she knew about Andrew was not exactly true and his family and Hayden's family are on opposing sides of a growing dispute. This is not my first Darla Dunbar series and it is just as good and intriguing as the last. I love her writing and the way she builds the suspense. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Lion, and tigers and bears, oh my! Dorothy, you're not in Kansas, anymore! What about werewolves and witches and demons? The Alpha Feud series, Books 1 and 2, take us to a small town, seemingly normal and boring. Eliza never suspected that her life was going to change, that everything that she knew and believed in, was to be revealed to be a filmy curtain hiding the reality of her little community and the world around her. There are ups and downs more dramatic than a roller-coaster ride, but ultimately Fate has a plan for Eliza and her friends, new and old. Each book leaves us thinking, "Is this it?" Can this be all?" The answer is: No, not even close!" Like potato chips, you can't just read one; you've got to read them all as Darla Dunbar reveals them one by one. Aaah! Just sit back and enjoy the thrills, horror and romance.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. A few twist and turns is what you find when reading this book and lets not forget an open ending. One woman, 2 loves? Eliza thinks she has it all and is living the dream, a good man and a job she loves. All is perfect or is it. Dunbar brings us another great book which she has spun us a tale worth reading. Great characters with almost too much background but balanced out by great content. An enjoyable read that keeps you in place to the final page.
Drama, suspense, mystery, romance add in some hot sexy ware Wolves, some cocky good looking ware wolf hunters, three gorgeous best friends that are right in the middle, Eliza, the news reporter, that is tired of small town news, now has one alpha wolf, Hayden, and a hunter, Andrew, who is her boyfriend, are both in love with her. Then there is Melissa, who is in love with Theo, Hayden's older brother. Life in this small town in Indiana is about to get shaken up. Great book. I enjoyed reading it and look forward to book two. Must read.

Alpha Feud:A BBW Paranormal Shifter Romance-Book 1 (The Alpha Feud)
This book was slow moving and didn't really get going til almost the end.The character Eliza was in a relationship with Andrew that seemed to be going nowhere.Suddenly there was a lot of new people in the town.Eliza then meets Hayden and things finally get busy.
This is the beginning of a wonderful series. It has action, an awesome storyline and can you say romance!!! The characters are great and seem to be intertwined. I could not put this book down once I started!! I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review
I really enjoyed this story a lot, it is a different take on shifters, has a great mystery as well, this story leaves off with a cliffhanger but book 2 is available and answers a lot of questions, I think this is the start of a great series
I sincerely believe that if I didn't come into this story with expectations, I would have been able to truly appreciate the originally using a common theme and the investigative aspects of the story.
The one thing I can't condone was the love triangle. Cheating is very realistic and relatable, but hardly something most people want to relate to. Unless they are wallowing in their sorrows with a tub of ice cream and bashing all men.
I realize that a majority of the book was not so much world-building per say, but plot-building. Or conflict-building. The author had a lot of information that the characters needed to either already have, attain, and share. Bet your was, they took their sweet ass time. And in place of that time span, I feel that there were moments in the story that became fillers. They weren't necessarily needed in order to understand the plot or pertained to the upcoming climax, but only gave a small insight of the characters daily life. The only thing that I can think of as an equivalent is when a Youtuber vlogs on a day, no date in particular, and nothing really substantial ever happens. The most interesting thing that does is just them talking about another day where something substantial did happened. And to be frank, it isn't as exciting for you as it is for them.
It didn't read like a suspence novel. Hell, it didn't even read as a romance novel until towards the end. And even then, it felt like too much in a confined space. However, as I mentioned before, there was a lot of clues to be dropped in order to lead us in the right direction.
Overall, regardless of my expectations, I feel that this story's flow started out low and worked its way up. However, I do still think that the flow of the story could have been worked on a little more. I can only hope that the next book kicks it into high gear and does the story justice.
Hmmm..... I Can day that there is a LOT of information packed into this book . Alot !! I suppose in order to set it up for the best book. I'm not 1 to not appreciate an authors work. But I do think that the story didn't have a very good flow for me . It moves, then it goes somewhere different. Eliza is a hometown girl who works at the local news station. She has a man that she loves, who loves her back. His family is a prominent one , but Andrew he barely talks to them. On this particular day , she and her 2 friends are at a bar, and meet this amazingly attractive man. And their lives will never be that same. Lots of mysterious surprises arise with Andrew's family and hers right in the middle. I see that this is a series, if you like this sort of thing.
Right when it got towards the end it started getting really good. Hayden and Eliza finally succumbed to their desires, information and secrets are revealed and Andrew's family history was a comeplete shocker. This new Andrew is definitely more sexy now but Hayden is not only sexy but he's tender and sweet. Polat opposite guys and i cant even begin to guess whonshe will choose.
Ok yes I said it dragged a bit because I kept thinking as I read chapter after chapter, is this book really about werewolves? I pretty much stopped being annoyed towards the end when we see a werewolf fight and then it ends. The story is a good one it just dragged too much with the bar scenes. Yes I will get book 2 anyway. I like this author and will definitely read her other books.
I liked the fact this book doesn't even get to the heart of the matter until the very end. Which makes it very interesting in the least and puts Eliza in a quandary on who she wants. Do she still want the boyfriend she knows or the werewolf who seems to care about her safety before his own? Can't wait to read the second book to see what happens with Eliza and her friends.
This definitely started out a lot slower than I would have liked it to. I think it would have been better as a dual POV instead of third person. Still by the end of the book it had gotten so much better. Family fueds, secrets, and death, who doesn't love that?
I don't think the relationship between her and Andrew is going to last. Also I think she really doesn't know Andrew at all, I think he is just as much ruthless as his father.
A little bit of sleuthing, a little bit of romance, a little bit of danger, and a few questions still remain. This is one where you have to read the series but it seems quite worth it.
I had to dnf it. I kept wondering when the “feuding alpha” would happen.. I couldn’t get into the book after reading 45 % so gave up. I hate to not finish a book once I start but I had to with this one
Fantastic plot and story! Lots of danger, drama, and mayhem, along with strange twists and turns. As in real life you don't always know people like you think. Even after living with someone they still can have a hidden dark side, you never suspected. Who will she chose?
I enjoyed reading this story and it was well written. But one thing I really hate is cliffhangers and I’m not sure if I will read the next story, even though this was a very interesting read!
I look forward to reading more books. This was a fun one that made you actually think a little. I'm glad the focus isn't on her weight and I appreciate that she's not annoyingly whiney.
This shifter romance is full of action and mystery. It has a very down home town, but it is full of action and mystery. It is a cliff hanger ending, with a promised conclusion and HEA in Book two.
The characters are strong, the two groups of people show grit. There is some sorrows but some happiness. I am sad that I need to wait for the next book..
