After Mariely Hinojosa and Cabot Wheeler both break up with their significant others at the same party, Mariely sees a way to get even with both of their exes. Everyone knows that the best way to get over a breakup is a hookup—a fake hookup, that is. Three weeks, all fun, no strings, and definitely no heartbreak at the end.

But somewhere between the sweet hand-holding and melt-your-mind kisses, their fake relationship starts to feel less like an act and more like the real thing…but Mariely’s a free-spirited girl from the other side of the tracks, and Cabot’s the hot trust-fund guy from the Hills.

They’d never work for real…

This Entangled Teen Crush book contains a kickass heroine, a boy so hot he’ll make you shiver, and a falling-in-love story fit for the big screen. You’ll want to settle in and have the popcorn ready.

There are three things (besides her family) that Shellee loves more than Netflix: Dr. Pepper, OTPs, and book boyfriends (I’m looking at you, Gilbert Blythe).

Shellee has been told that her life goal as a writer should be to win prestigious awards that will grant her literary immortality, but as an OG shipper (Tad and Dixie—my first hardcore ship) all she really wants is to create two characters that people love so much they give them a cool mashup name.

Shellee spends her days living the dream with her family in Austin, Texas—and by living the dream she means waking up at the crack of dawn to go to work, chauffeur, walk dogs, do dishes, and fold laundry. At night she gets down to real business, basking in the warm, blue glow of her computer screen and bringing the stories in her head to life on the page...or watching shipper fan videos on YouTube till 2am. Tomorrow she’s definitely going to kick that procrastination problem to the curb.

“You know what they say, Audrey, the best way to get over a breakup is a hookup.”

This was a YA contemporary romance featuring a fake relationship.

I liked characters in this, and both of them had just had bad break-ups. I could see what Mariely thought everybody was talking about her though when her boyfriend turned out to be gay. It was also good to catch up with Willa from the previous book in the series.

The storyline in this was about Mariely and Cabot starting a fake relationship to try and get over their old relationships, but unexpectedly falling for each other, which was kind of sweet.

The ending to this was pretty good, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the next book in the series.

Seriously couldn't put this one down.

If you love books that take place at art schools, guys with gorgeous eyes, stories with diverse characters - including a Mexican-American MC - and fake romances / opposites attract stories, then you have to check out this one whether or not you've read the first two books in the series yet. That said, if you have read the first two books, then you'll get glimpses of some of your other fave characters, like Sloane, Tru, Finn, Himish, and a lot of face time with Willa.

I received an eARC from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

When I found this book on Netgalley I just knew that I wanted to request it, I really enjoyed How Willa Got Her Groove Back and I couldn’t wait until I could read the other books in this series. I was lucky and I got the book to read and review it.

The book is written from Mariely Hinojosa, the protagonist. A girl who loves acting and would like to be an actress one day. There are also a few chapters written from Cabot Wheeler his perfective, a boy who loves photography and painting. The way it was written was eactly the same as in How Willa Got Her Groove Back. Mariely was written from the first person and Cabot from the third person – just like with Willa and Finn. Mariely was a very nice protagonist, she was funny but sometimes a little insecure. She was unsure of herself, but also of her home. I just liked to read from her perspective and she didn’t annoy me one time. I also liked Cabot A LOT. He is super sweet and helpful and I literally swooned all the way through the book.

Another thing that this book resembled from How Willa Got Her Groove Back, was that it contained a lot of drama. Not nearly as much as in HWGHGB, but still quite a lot. It started with this whole thing about the breakups of Mariely and Jacen and Cabot and Audrey. Then it goes straight to the drama of the fauxmance – the fake relationship and that really was the best thing about it. A book should have the right amount of drama in it and that is something Shellee Roberts did very well.

The way Mariely and Cabot fall in love is realistic and also very cute. You see them slowly (and then all at once.. no just kidding) falling of each other and that makes reading it so much more fun! I had the idea that sometimes it was a bit rushed, that sometimes it just went too fast and I think that is because the book is so short. I pity that, because if the book was slightly longer I obviously could enjoy it even longer and I think that the relationship of Mariely and Cabot could be a bit more detailed.

The protagonists of HWGHGB were also in this book and that is something I was impressed about. I knew this book was part of a series, but I didn’t know that Willa and Finn would be in it so often. Also the subject from the other book is reflected in this book. It is so fun to see it through Marielys eyes, and see what Willa and Finn feel for each other. It is fun because you can experience Marielys intake on their situation– that Mariely also thinks that they should be together. I loved that.

I really – really enjoyed the book, it was light and easy to read, but I couldn’t give it five stars. If I had to compare it with HWGHGB, I think Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance just missed something, so I give it four stars.

Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance was cute and while I enjoyed the story for the most part there were a couple of issues that stopped this from being a 3.5 or even a 4 star read for me. Alternating points of view are hardly a new concept and I tend to prefer stories that utilize them. However in CSF the POV was extremely confusing, rather than writing from the "first person" POV the author wrote from the "third person" POV and when the viewpoint changed between characters it was jarring and interrupted the flow of the story. I also found the story ended somewhat abruptly not quite in a cliffhanger but there seemed to be a lot of unfinished business between these characters. This might be due to the fact that the series follows a larger plan and leaves the option open for more stories featuring these characters. Regardless of the inconsistencies with the POV in this installment I will likely read more of the Creative HeArts, if for no other reason than to find out what happens between Willa and Finn!

I got this book for an honest review, Thank you Netgally, Entagled and Shellee Roberts for this chance.

First off I laughed my butt off the entire time. I felt a little bad for Cabot because his ex just wouldn't take no for an answer! I really really felt bad for Mariely for how she found out about her bf but than again the signs were kinda there....I also kept thinking she was being a little bit of a snob which to most would be a surprising thing but its true! She was so worried about how she lived that she didn't want to even give Cabot a chance at first. It was a cute book an I can't wait to see where things go with everyone in the series!

Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance made me think of two quite funny tidbits that are oddly connected:
I clearly have a thing for Entangled Crush books... They kinda my well written, enjoyable cute & fluffy supplier of late. And CSF just was proof of the fact. Cute, fluffy, well written and so enjoyable.
The second fact is that I have grown to adore multi-author series. And guess who has gotten me into that? Yep, Entangled Crush. The Creative Hearts series is just one of the reason I love multi-author series. I love how each author does one couple, so we have unique POV and different storylines, but the book do also overlap, time wise and naturally there are some of the same people in all the books.
The reason why I am rambling on about these two things is that first I love Entangled Crush books for above reasons, and second Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance does totally cement all of it. Some how the authors have managed to write their own books but they are so well synced it's amazing!

The plot is the let's fake it till me make it romance. And it's rather A to B to C, so quite what one expects and definitely no surprises.

Just like it's predecessors in the series, this is full of teen angst and plenty of drama.
But it also feature beautiful descriptions about the love for their arts. I could totally relate to Mariely's love for acting. And I don't have a single bone in my body that can act!
Cabot's love for painting, his fears and his passion for photography was dear to my heart, those being my own mediums of choice. I honestly feel Roberts did nail these bits.

While the plot is quite your usual usual - this shine with character building. It was amazing to revisit previously seen characters, seeing them from a different POV.
To be honest Willa totally surprised me. Because I actually didn't like her much in How Willa Got Her Groove Back. I have gained a new outlook on her, and well, she totally grew on me.
I love that Roberts and her co-Authors of the series seem to be able to go seamless through the characters. Though for some characters we see a totally different side to them, most of them are just exactly how I remembered. It's like visiting old friends. Which is really brilliant considering each book in the series so far has been written by a different person.
I liked both Mariely and Cabot. I can't wait to see where their journey is taking them next...
Love the support cast except I am a bit disappointed in Audrey. She was one sided in Willa's book, and this was even more cliche. I kinda get that she is the villain and all that. I loved the big showdown - it's totally your high school romantic movie scene - which is entertaining thus good. I admit to being totally gleeful and mentally high-fiving the boys through it. But it's also been done like a gazillion times. And it left me a tad disappointed in Audrey as a character.

As I said this is well written. It's the first book I read by Roberts and I am looking forward to the next book. My only little thing I didn't like about the writing style is that Cabot's POV is written in 3rd person. I would have prefered if it would have been written in 1st person like Mariely's.

And I ask myself, what's next? In the series, for each couple are there more couples or authors?
AND when is the next book coming out?! I don't even care who's book, just any of them..or even better all of them!

Full Review:

Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance is a delightful romantic story about two teenagers who create an alliance in attempt to divert attention off their equally humiliating and very public break ups. Cabot, the reigning high school hot guy, and Mariely, the scholarship kid from across the tracks, both find solace in each other and some unexpected and unlikely feels start to emerge. This story follows them and their attempts to salvage what is left of their hearts and their reputations while unknowingly starting something, neither of them knew they needed.

The love story was cute, the drama was heavy and the haters, just cruel. Both characters are likable and they are pretty well built for a shortish novel aimed at high school and college age new adults. This was a quick, entertaining read and Cabot was surprisingly deep for the popular rich kid. Mariely, although stereotyped, is smart and stands up for herself. Her character’s response to the things life throw her way is pretty rad.

All in all, this book is a win. It isn’t super heavy and isn’t a super stressful read. It’s just the story of two people and how their lives start to intertwine. I look forward to reading more about them.

3.5 stars -- I received a copy of this book through NetGalley!!

I loved Mariely's style -- even if it was born out of necessity (shopping in thrift stores), I still loved the whole vintage vibe she had going on, and how she was even interested in classic movies and stuff too. And you could really see her vulnerability and how insecure she was about her financial status and the reality of her home life. She came across as very authentic, and my heart hurt for her and all she was dealing with, partly thanks to Jacen (who I really wanted to smack for being so insensitive).

I wish we'd gotten to be inside Cabot's head a little bit more. I enjoyed the peeks we got from him, but I feel like there's more we could have learned. I kind of hated how Mariely just trivialized the problems Cabot was dealing with (his parents divorce) just because she thought his life was easy being rich. He had a few dickish moments (like the Thursday supper, that surprised me as much as it did Mariely), but in general he was actually really sweet and considerate.

And these two definitely had some great chemistry going!! I felt those kisses right down to my tummy.

I haven't read the previous two books in this series, and I found that I was occasionally distracted by Willa, wondering what was going on with her since it seems like her story might have been concurrent with this one...but that's a me problem, not a book problem.

While I found this book to have a whole lot of goodness, I ended it feeling like I was missing something. But I honestly have no idea what, so I'm really not that helpful. It just felt like it went kind of fast. But maybe it's that I know this is only book 1 for Mariely and Cabot, and so the author was trying to give us a temporary HEA while hoping we will want more in the next book. I'm definitely interested, so I guess mission accomplished?

Side note: no matter how many times I corrected myself, I still defaulted to saying "Mary-Ellie" instead of "MAR-ee-ely". But I seriously loved having a hispanic heroine, yay for diversity!

3.5 “Fauxmances are the best” Stars

ARC via NetGalley

Thank you, Entangled Teen!

I was pretty sure I was going to really enjoy this book even before I started it.

Part of a series I really liked? Check.

A chance to see more of Willa and Finn before the sequel to How Willa Got Her Groove Back? Check.

Fake romance? Check. Check.

Oh, well, just count me in.

Mariely Hinojosa (hello, diversity!) and Cabot Wheeler thought they had nothing in common. He was the hot, rich and popular guy with a bright future ahead of him. She was the poor, wanna-be actress student trying to hold on to her scholarship in order to make a better life for herself.

Their paths probably wouldn’t have crossed, even though they went to the same school, but life decided to punch them at the same time.

When Mariely and Cabot learn about their respective others’ extracurricular activities, they find themselves single, the targets of high school gossip and a crazy ex-girlfriend. Pretending to be hooking up sounds like the best way to go, right?

You know what happens after that. A sequence of cute and adorable scenes that help us fall in love with these characters while they fall for each other.

The plot is quite simple, as one would expect from a story with this premise, but the characters’ different background add some tension, Mariely’s authenticity creates some funny moments and Cabot’s swoon-worthy vibe will make you… yeah, swoon.

It also doesn’t hurt that we get to see Willa and Finn again.

I especially loved Cabot and Finn’s bromance, and I’m hoping for much more of that when the next book comes. Man, I love a good bromance.

Well, this book was a great addition to the Creative HeArts series and it was a fun, cute and fast read. I can’t wait for the next one.

Cabot Wheeler's girlfriend had convinced him to throw a big party at his house but then proceeded to drink to much and admit to having cheated on Cabot. Meanwhile at the party, Mariely Hinojosa walks in on her boyfriend of three years making out with another guy. Both of these couples end their relationship leaving Cabot and Mariely devastated at their separate betrayals.

After receiving the advice that nothing gets you over a break up like a new hook up and Mariely sees that Cabot's ex will not leave him alone Mariely comes up with a plan that the two of them should team up and begin a fake romance since neither are ready for the real thing. The plan is supposed to get Cabot's ex to leave him alone and help Mariely get over her embarrassment having found her relationship was a sham but things heat up between the fake couple while spending time together.

A cute little young adult romance read with fun and interesting characters, a fun plot along with great writing to wrap it all together I found myself really enjoying this story. A case of opposites attracting while a relationship is actually given time to grow between the couple instead of a case of instant attraction.

Mariely was an over the top fun personality with her own sense of style grown from her poor background being a scholarship student in an upscale school among the rich kids. She's a theater student and thinks of every situation being a stage so coming up with the fake romance is right up her alley. Cabot is the rich kid that Mariely is not comfortable being around but she quickly learns that he's a great guy that even being rich has his own issues in life.

Overall, a really fun read that I'd recommend checking out. Part of a series but read fine as a standalone as this was my first taste of this series but would definitely pick up the other books myself.

* I received this book through Netgalley through the publisher Entangled Teen*

The Why: After a public humiliation of a public break up both Mariely and Cabot think that having a fauxmance is the best idea? Or is it? Especially when fake turns into real feelings. It was fun , lighthearted and an easy read, because I read this book in one sitting.

Characters:
Mariely: After experiencing a bad breakup with her boyfriend of almost two years, she decides the best thing to do is to hook up with someone. Of course being in the theater track at her creative arts high school she needs to follow a script for this fauzmance; but she finds herself quickly getting off script when Cabot is involved.
Mari'd style reminds me of myself with bold out of this century outfits. She reminds me of Lola from Lola and the Boy Next Door with her style. She's also very dramatic (well, she is an actor and also goes to a creative arts school). As her fauxmance becomes real to both parties, she realizes that she has to learn not to care what other people think.

Cabot: Finding out that his heartless, mean girlfriend hooked up with another guy doesn't help a guy's ego. So when Mariely gives him the idea of hooking up and faking a relationship to both get over their exes he jumps at the opportunity and goes with it. But he really doesn't know when he started falling for Mari, but he did and he doesn't know how to make this fake thing into something real. But he knows he wants to "be awesome together."

Final Thoughts:
Full of drama on and off the stage it was a light hearted read that I read in one day. Also be on the lookout for crazy ex-girlfriends, laughs and a faux relationship full of bad deals and real love.

Right from the start, I really liked this one. The writing was once again great, and the book followed the same formula as the other one, with Mariely’s chapters being from a 1st person POV, and the occasional chapter showing Cabot’s perspective on the 3rd person. This is not exactly alternating POVs, but somehow it really works for these books.

Now, just putting it out there, I was very glad to have one of my biggest suspicions from the other book confirmed here!!!

I really liked both characters, though Mariely was so afraid to be herself most of the time, and I wanted her to get a bit out of her own head, also, she reminded me a bit of Lola, from Lola and the Boy Next Door, sometimes.. Cabot was so sweet… oh my! I really liked how the “fake” relationship progressed to a point where they were actually friends, and then something more. I also loved how direct Cabot was about his intentions, because usually in these kinds of romances they’re always both playing coy. And I really want Cabot to pain Mariely for his Spring show…

I can’t wait to see how their story progresses to book 2 and 3. And I absolutely loved seeing Willa and Finn’s story intertwined with Cabot and Mariely’s in this book, and I’m all for a Cabot and Finn bromance, because that ups the chances of Finn and Willa finally resolving some things.

Entangled Crush doesn’t let me down!

I loved it! I love all the boys in this series, I mean the main characters. However, unlike Sloane or Willa, Mariely was not afraid to take risks and tried out new thing, considering that the other two were proved enough and were designer and writer, they should have had this characteristics, not Mariely, who was an actress, and was actually afraid. But, what I liked about her the most that she was leading, not Cabot, but Cabot was cool in the way that he lead silently, while supporting her. Both were not afraid to accept their feelings. Both had problems in their families. I was a bit mad when she lied to him just to keep him away from her living place, however, of course I understood her.

Overall, it was fast and fun read, cannot wait for the 4th book!!!

What do you say about a book that took your breath away? I have no idea but I'm gonna give it a go tomorrow

Edit:

I’m trying to rack my brains for anything I didn’t like or anything that could be improved and I’m coming up blank. The truth is this book was GOOD and I really wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it turned out to be. I’m probably rambling now so I’ll say this before I sign off…

Crazy Stupid Fauxmance is an honest to goodness feel-good (to the point where you smile at nothing when you’re finished - yes, that was me) romance

Read it.

I know I’ll be re-reading it sometime soon and possibly re-reviewing it (because I still have no words).

The romance was adorable (FAKE DATING, I love fake dating!!!!!). I liked the characters, but I couldn't much connect with them.... I found the writing funny and fast.
Yesterday I was awake at 2 am still reading this because I wanted to read more about the story!
3 stars because it was predictable and I wished for something more. If you are looking for something cute and that involves fake dating this is the book for you.

This book had the right amount of romance, fluff, fun, and uniqueness to set it apart from the others. I thought the art school was a very cool touch, especially using the female old school actress as curse words. I know I have drama nerd friends who would do just that so it really felt authentic in that way. The ONLY thing I didn't like is it didn't feel like enough. How did his art project turn out, did she get another job, I just felt like it could have had more and dived a bit deeper into her past and life too.

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I gotta say, this one was by far my favorite of of the 3 books in this series that I've read. I love how much Mariely fights for what she wants. She's very down to earth, a hard worker, and a spitfire character. And I even liked Cabot, though he was a bit whining about his parents situation when others have gone through a lot worse.

I'm glad I got to get inside these characters heads and that I finally got around to reading these books I've had for years!

Lovely

I loved the teen drama and how sweet these two were and how they two ending falling for each other and fighting to be together. I enjoyed the writing and humor and how the books in these series have some important topics like divorce and different economic classes. I wish for the cheating boyfriend not a happy ending because he never really felt sorry or thought he did something but by having another relationship on the side but other than that fun and fast read

I Debated On My Rating...

So I debated a bit on my rating here because I did like this book so I considered a four stars, but that ending really didn't do it for me. I mean yes the scene has sigh moments to it but I don't know it's like the story ends like a truncated file. It's just over when it seems like there should be so much more. I mean considering the very different backgrounds these kids have, the very different future paths they're potentially on, it seems like it's going to be a little hard to be awesome and really unrealistic to not truly address those obstacles. I guess it's more than that for me with this story as well. There's the bakc and forth between first and third POV I didn't really care for, I think this could have been done much better either in a solid third or a rotating first. But most of all it tries too hard. The author clearly decided this story would remain mostly lighthearted despite providing broken characters with real issues in a setting conductive to drama. We know they have issues but the surface of those is barely skimmed in order to keep that lighthearted not too deep feel of the story. It's kind of like the ending where it ends before they really have to face the hard stuff. I'm all for a lighthearted story when the characters fit the bill, I wouldn't bother with teen romance if I didn't enjoy the occasional lighthearted story. But as a reader I don't like to be teased with something deeper then cheated out of the experience in order to achieve that feel and ultimately that is my biggest issue with the story. However it was a good story. I liked Mariley and Cabot, I wanted to know them better. I'm curious about Willa and Finn, two of the secondary characters in this story. The peek into the world of NextGen High has me intrigued and I'd like to know more. Don't get me wrong it's a good book, it's just one of those good books that you know could have been better.

I received this book for free from Entangled in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I jumped at the chance to read the third book in the Creative HeArts series, as I read How Willa Got Her Groove Back a couple of months ago. This book is the first in the trio following Mariely and Cabot, characters I first met in the previous book, which means that I also got to see Willa and Finn on the side and see how they were doing.

There were things I really liked about this but also things I really didn’t. As a romance, I would give it between 3.5 and 4 stars. However, the bad knocked it down. Just as a warning, the bad is due to personal factors, but I know I’m not the only person to experience what I’ve experienced, which is why I think my thoughts are valid.

Let’s start with the good.

- Mariely and Cabot were very different, one being a Hispanic girl with a love for classic movies and a scholarship, the other being classic prep school rich kid with a talent for photography but a love for painting. I enjoyed the development of their feelings, especially how Cabot was really open and direct about things. He wasn’t brooding or arrogant, so I was totally rooting for him as a refreshing change.
- I loooved Mariely’s sense of style and habit of using classic movie star names in vain. She became such a defined character in my mind because of these things.
- The karaoke scene. Going to karaoke place in Japan was one of my favourite things to do as a teenager, and I can only imagine how much fun going with a bunch of theatrical people must be!
- There were some genuinely funny lines in here that I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at.
- I liked allll the romantic things Cabot did. Hi, perfect boyfriend.
- Oh, and hi, Finn. You are delicious, too.
- The ending was more satisfying than that of Willa and Finn's first book.

Now. The bad. I’ll start with the smaller bad, which is that I felt like the little bit of drama when Cabot goes to Mariely’s house was rather sudden and forced. That could have been developed a bit more, but I mostly got over it towards the end.

Now the Big Bad. This book features a lot of cheating, and I didn’t like how it was handled. At all. It’s weird for me to find myself identifying more with the guy, but I did. Cabot’s situation? I’m currently going through it. I HATED how Mariely reacted to Cabot’s behaviour. She belittled what is probably a really difficult situation for Cabot. Did she honestly think she could make a real judgment of the situation knowing so little about the relationship between Cabot and his dad? Does his dad deserve a doting son after what he did? I’m sorry, but have a little sensitivity.

If I were in Cabot’s shoes, I would have done the same. Hell, you try and put me in the same situation and someone will leave crying. Having the person you look up to and respect most in the world fall so far is one of the most devastating feelings, and it doesn’t just suddenly become ok after a few weeks. You would think Mariely would be a bit more understanding, given her own home life, but I honestly liked her a lot less after her snap judgement.

I also really didn’t like Jacen. At all. He was so insensitive and horrible. I don’t know who he thought he was, lecturing Mariely about pulling it together only a week after he did what he did to her. He didn’t apologise nearly enough for my liking, and not even his stunts at the end could redeem him. Also, what he did in the first place immediately put him in my bad book. So yeah, he will now and forever be a character I have zero love and respect for.

annoyed disgusted no

Like I said, I really liked some bits, but other factors brought the book down for me. I would have liked more sensitivity around a situation that isn’t uncommon but is still really heartbreaking: cheating. There seemed to be far too much sympathy towards them and too little towards the people they cheated on, as a whole. Please, if you’re going to include cheating in your story, think about your readers that might have been affected in one way or another and be realistic about it. Don’t make them feel bad for relating to the victims of cheating.

That being said, ignoring the adultery, this was a good book, and I’m looking forward to the continuation of Mariely and Cabot’s love story!

Thank you Entangled Publishing and Shellee Roberts for my e-arc of Crazy, Stupid Fauxmance!
One (fake) hookup with a totally hot guy, no strings, all fun, here I come.

Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance is a young adult contemporary romance featuring Mariely Hinojosa and Cabot Wheeler. After a boathouse party, two breakups and heartbreak both Mariely and Cabot are the talk of their artistic high school Austin NextGen Academy. The solution to their problem is a hookup, a fake one, a fauxmance.

I enjoyed reading Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance by Shellee Roberts. It’s charming, witty and funny. It’s a perfect example of a good young adult novel. There are a lot of clichés in this book, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Actually, it’s what I really like. It has the typical fake dating trope where the characters slowly but surely start to fall in love with each other and the lines between what is fake and what is real gets blurry. It’s a delight to read about how Mariely and Cabot navigate through this journey, and see what it is that makes them believe the other is still faking their feelings when they are so clearly not.

If there is one thing that bothered me a little in this book it is the dual point of view. The majority of chapters are in Mariely’s point of view, in first person and those chapters are great. However, Cabot’s chapters are written in third person which really threw me off. I would have preferred it if either the whole book was in Mariely’s point of view or if Cabot’s chapters were in first person as well. That would have made the flow a lot better.
“Look Cabot, if we were on some crappy teen show, the casting sheet for you would read: tall, dark, perfect high school guy with mesmerizing blue eyes, Porsche driver. Mine would read: Hispanic girl from East Side with big dreams and not much else. I’m just saying, it makes it easier for me to sell this whole fauxmance thing if I know that in a tiny way, you’re flawed, too.”

Mariely breaks up with her boyfriend when she finds him kissing another boy at a party. She decides to do this fake hookup with Cabot on a whim, which is very unlike her. However, Mariely is a fierce and strong character and she is by far the best thing in this book. Yes I love a good romance but strong yet flawed female characters are golden. Mariely is a scholarship student at Austin NextGen Academy, she is poor and often feels like that is what makes her so different from the other students. Mariely has a style that is very retro, I guess you could describe it somewhere between old hollywood and the women from the 50s. I’d say her style is unique, sexy and something that makes her unlike any other girl at her school. Unfortunately it’s also something Mariely is very self-conscious about. This leads me to the following, that both Mariely and Cabot can be seen as two very stereotypical characters. One is poor, the other rich, one is white and the other Hispanic. However, there is so much more to these characters than what first meets the eye. I truly enjoyed seeing how much we got to see that throughout the story.
I like that this is how he thinks of me, that I’m that kind of strong, fearless. I like that he doesn’t know how weak and scared I can be. That’s what makes this fauxmance ideal, that we won’t ever have to see each other’s flaws. To me he’ll always be the gorgeous, kind, earnest guy who makes my heart flutter. To him, I’ll be the va-va-voom girl, with a little mystery and a lot of moxie.

Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance is a book perfect for everyone who loves a light and sweet story about a girl and a boy trying to navigate through high school and these strange feelings associated with falling in love. There is diversity, authenticity and two people who slowly and surely grow to take a chance on something that could be awesome. As we all know, even though things start as something fake, they may not always end that way.

First reaction:
I'll write a review soon. But it's a great book, cute and charming.

J’ai beaucoup apprécié dans ce roman l’apparition assez régulière des personnages de How Willa Get Her Groove Back.
