‘I’ve never been afraid of big moments. I get butterflies. I get nervous and anxious, but I think those are all good signs that I’m ready for the moment’ – Stephen Curry. Stephen Curry was intent in showing the world that he was not just ‘lucky’ – he wanted to show that he deserved to be playing in the Finals. He deserved to be the MVP. He deserved to win a championship. He deserved to be recognised as one of the greatest players to ever play this game. From humble beginnings, as the 7th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft that went relatively unnoticed, from having the one of worst records in the NBA in his first year as a Warrior, from being cast aside by critics for being always riddled with injury, he was now on the verge of ending all speculation once and for all as to whether his name deserved to be mentioned amongst the NBA greats. All it took was just 12 more minutes, just 1 more quarter of basketball – with the Cleveland Cavalier fans booing him, the critics doubting him and the whole world watching him - he would show them just what he’s capable of to succeed under pressure, a skill he has picked up and honed over all the years of his basketball life. After 12 minutes, the world would come to know of the legend of Stephen Curry – being one of the greatest shooter’s to ever play the game of basketball. After 12 more minutes, Stephen Curry would be deemed a bonafide superstar. After 12 more minutes, Stephen Curry wouldn’t be known as the guy who got ‘lucky’ to be MVP – he would go from being just another all-star, to being an NBA Champion and solidifying his status as an absolute force to be reckoned with in the league. Interesting, engaging and easy to read, this book is about the rise of Stephen Curry, the Long-Shot, the MVP, and the Champion. Get this book now and enjoy the journey of the greatest super star!
This book was great. I really enjoyed reading it, it was an easy read and it was very interesting. The book summarizes Stephen Curry's rise to fame. The book starts out in the early 1990's during his childhood his father is Dell Curry. Everybody expected him to be great at basketball because his dad was an NBA star. The book outlines his struggles of being short and trying to make it big in basketball. He was turned down by many colleges before he finaly found one college that would let him on their team. His struggle continued while trying to get into the NBA as well. Towards the middle of the book Stephen helped the Golden State Warriors win the NBA finals for the first time in 40 years. “ If you don’t fall how are you going to know what getting up is like?” (Stephen Curry 15) I highly recommend because I am a big basketball fan and I learned a lot about ups and downs of being a NBA star.
This book is about how Stephen Curry started and how he wanted to be a basketball star just like his father. He always had a gifted for basketball and he worked really hard and tried to be the best that he could be always. He went to a losing school that was on a dry spell for wining basketball games and Curry changed that he carried them to victory and prove to everyone that yes he was small but, that was not going to stop him from being the best. And today he is one of the best shooters in the NBA.
This is a fun, positive and inspiring read about a great basketball player. I'm a basketball fan and I've sat through lots of difficult Warriors games in my time. This book gives an overview of Stephen Curry's basketball career from childhood, to high school, college and the NBA. It's one of those sports stories where the underdog becomes champion. A story where you learn that even when things are stacked against you, when you've been discounted for years, you can still persevere and succeed. Hard work, dedication, belief in yourself, faith in something bigger than yourself, and support of other players and his family are keys to his success. These things are good for all us, not just the younger crowd this book is geared towards, to remember. I received this at a free or discounted rate in exchange for my honest review.
I decided to read this book because I am in fifth grade and it's my first year of basketball and Stephen Curry is my favorite player. I suggest reading Stephen Curry Rise of the Star if you are interested in basketball. The story is based on Stephen Curry’s life and how his dad played basketball and how he grows up. Steph plays for Golden State Warriors.
