When Andrew and Fiona decide to run away to escape her father's influence the stakes get higher and potentially fatal for both of them. As a member of The Order of The Wise Serpents, Fiona's father has connections and influence that extend across all levels and social strata of society. The lovers soon find themselves balanced precipitously between danger and desire. Intensely romantic and extremely suspenseful, Simpatico captures the struggle between defying the dictates of what others want for us and following the innate urgings of our own hearts and souls. This is a love story that takes no prisoners.

Simpatico (They will never tear us Apart) Author Dermot Davis.
Wow! Simpatico had me in tears by the end. The emotion running through this book is very powerful. And I would recommend it to anyone who has ever loved, no not loved, gave their heart, their very soul to someone and felt so complete with them that life would be nothing if they were to leave. Dermot definitely knows how to take the reader by the heart strings and tugging them all the way through this novel. (I mean that as a massive complement)
The novel itself follows Fiona and Andrew as they decide if they should break ties with their families for a little while to be together. However, Andrew has an accident that changes both their plans. Does either of their hearts survive the advents that follow? Read this book to find out.
I loved Fiona character, she seemed free spirited and open to things that only a hand full of people like get to experience. I really felt like her character resonated with me as I was reading this. I also loved her innocence of being a daddy girl, even though he made me want to shut him in his bedroom throughout the story. After everything he did, but also wanted to know more about his cult and what that could meant for Fiona. That said he gave me goose bumps.
I also loved the banter between Fiona and Andrew and how in my mind their love was never a question. And not forgetting Mr Dowling I want, no I need to know more on him and his story. He was one of my favourite characters, there was just something so sweet and caring about him that drew me to him.
This story also has some great magical descriptions that pulled me into each scene. Dermot did an amazing job at not only telling a story that was both magical and romantic, but heartbreaking and gripping. But also brought characters together that I couldn't help but like and feel conflicted about. I really hope there is more to come with this story. I will be adding this Author to my must keep an eye out for more book list.
I would recommend this novel to anyone who has felt love and risked losing it, along with every part of their selves. As well as if you love great characters, a touch of dark magic and a journey that will only leave you wanting/needing to read more.
This is a YA romance. The heroine is Fiona, 19 and idealistic. She lives a sheltered life in relative luxury, raised by a father who not only follows occult practices, but is a powerful member of a secret society. He and Fiona are close, but their relationship becomes strained once Fiona declares her love for Andrew, her soulmate and first true beau. Fiona's mother had died under mysterious circumstances and certain hints led me to believe the father had a hand in her death. Fiona is supposed to have inherited supernatural gifts, but she has not matured into them yet. Whatever those gifts are, they do not seem to be of any use as of yet. Her father covets them, and his actions in that regard reinforce his creepiness.
As you can tell, the father is the protagonist. He bounces back and forth between being just an overprotective father, and a heartless man driven by ambition to the point of using his daughter to further his own occult-based desires. Unbeknownst to Fiona, her father causes the death of two teenage boys and allows Andrew to take the fall. No regrets, no remorse. I can't say that I had any sympathy for him after that point.
So, Fiona falls for Andrew, who is a nice guy, but sort of average. He isn't into all the new age beliefs and practices that Fiona follows, but he overlooks her weirdness as they both sink into that big swimming pool of young love. I never see what Fiona sees in Andrew, especially since she is focused on new age spirituality, and he has no real interest in any such matters. A short scene alludes to Andrew having psychic gifts of his own, but, like Fiona, his gifts are never explored. Perhaps they will come into play in the sequel.
The kids' desire to be with one another forever has its obstacles. I know many readers prefer romance on the lighter side of life, where squabbles are short and often silly; where sex is only alluded to, but never raw or vulnerable; where danger only flashes its high beam but never leaves scars; and where everyone in the end joins hands and sings. This is such a novel, and can be enjoyed. Cheers.
This book is presented as a novel of romantic suspense. I would argue with that. Suspense demands tension in the narrative, and what Davis offers here is something else. Something more original perhaps. And something more needed in the increasingly robotized world we live in. Let me explain. His relaxed, and at times humorous, prose is more appropriate for the fairy tale. So what we have here is a fairy tale for grownups. Of the fairy tale, Simpatico contains all the elements. Fiona, the rich heroine with high spiritual aspirations, is the princess. Andrew, poor and crushed by what seems like an implacable fate, is the toad that the princess’ kiss will transform into something noble and pure—a new age prince. Fiona’s possessive and powerful father, is the king. And when he locks his daughter into their luxurious villa, this, of course, is reminiscent of the dungeon. We even have the sage/healer in Henry, Andrew’s cell mate and a tool the author uses to send messages about the cynical ways of the powerful.
The incessant twists and turns of the novel, the moments of surprise, add elements of the picaresque to this novel. It’s filled with adventures and quests, and while some moments are more successful than others (the prison scenes are particularly strong), this is by and large a vivacious, charming page turner.
Simpatico is a bittersweet YA romance. Believing each other is their one true love, Andrew and Fiona swear a bond to always love each other, despite a portent of troubled times ahead, and seal it with their blood. Andrew, however, doesn't realize the power behind that action; Fiona is more than meets the eyes. Add to that a protective father who has powers of his own and higher hopes for his daughter, and you have a Romeo and Juliet destined to be together despite the odds. This is more than a story of young love. Andrew and Fiona share many adventures--some of the uncanny kind.
I was expecting a little more of the supernatural in the story, but I think that may be more forthcoming in the sequel.
Without giving the story away, one thing that bothered me was that no one seemed to take legal matters seriously. I can understand it from the young people, but the adults all basically shrugged their shoulders, too.
All in all, I think this is a story the YA crowd will enjoy. Romance and adventure are a good mix.
Dermot Davis certainly lives up to the accolades! Simpatico drips with young love thwarted in its opening bloom by a powerful man and his lust for greater occult power. Fiona and Andrew fight to make their self-acclaimed vows of love a reality against all odds. Most surprising to me in Simpatico is the author’s detailed knowledge of the occult, astral communication, the third-eye and how he cleverly weaves this information into the serpentine plot. Details about prison life make this reader wonder where the author managed to glean such terrifying features about gangs and fear inside. I won’t let you know how it ends, but mark my words, you’ll be surprised. Well worth the read. Pick it up if you want to feel what it’s like to be young and in love, but get ready to experience a creatively imagined and suspenseful world most people would never even dream of seeing.
Simpatico is a fast-paced romantic story with a twist of suspense. It's not easy to find a plot which perfectly combines thriller and romance genres elements and I am pleased to have found it. Fiona and Andrew are characters you will end up feeling for - they're such a genuine and lovely couple. Mr Devis writes with self confidence and mastery, delivering a well written book I have thoroughly enjoyed and am keen to recommend.
Simpatico: They Will Never Tear Us Apart: A Novel of Romantic Suspense by Author Dermot Davis
Although Author Dermot Davis has published several books, this is my first exposure to this well-versed and talented author. In this suspenseful novel, he manages to capture the attention of his reading audience right from the get go. I, for one, was totally drawn into the storyline and could hardly put this book down.
Starting off with the innocent love shared by Fiona and Andrew where they become soulmates by meshing their blood together to reinforce this concept...then on to the deep secret that Fiona's father keeps hidden in the basement room in their mansion...the stage is set for this suspenseful romance to unfold.
Fiona, born a Moonchild according to her father, is a very unique young lady who is now in the process of trying to tap into her psychic abilities. She is definitely a believer in the occult which a few of Andrew's friends consider to be an exhibition of some very weird behavior. Simon, her father, is part of a secret society "The Order of the Wise Serpent". He keeps his clandestine activities well hidden in the confines of the mansion's basement where he often visits to perform his rituals. Fiona is aware that something is up but does not have full knowledge of his dark world and his hand in Andrew's streak of bad luck....
Her father is wealthy beyond belief and Fiona lives with him. He loves his daughter and wants to protect her at all costs from the outside world. She has lived a somewhat cloistered life but at eighteen years of age she manages to fall madly in love with Andrew. He is a pretty ordinary guy who lives a simple life with his mother. His feelings for Fiona are genuine as he is equally enchanted with her. Simon decides that this union is not to his liking and he takes matters into his own hands in order to thwart the romance...
A cruel turn of events disrupts the plans that Andrew and Fiona have and thrusts their lives into a downward spiral resulting in an incomprehensible and painful series of misfortunes. Fiona has a plan of her own...will she be able to pull it off? She is determined to share a life with Andrew no matter the circumstances. Does she have the psychic ability to do so? The suspense to follow is well worth reading. Simpatico is a great fictional novel with many unexpected twists and turns penned by a very talented author with both a vivid and creative imagination. Great cover too!
I received a copy of this book for a honest review
Fiona is a delicate flower who has special powers that most people would never understand. Her father adores her and will do anything to keep his darling daughter happy . They live in a mansion surrounded by wealth. Andrew is a strong willed person who falls deeply in love with Fiona. He comes from a poor family compared to Fiona, but she only sees Andrew's love and devotion for her. They decide to prick their fingers and exchange blood as a "way join not just our hearts but our soul" Fiona explains.
Not everything is as it seems though. Fiona's father does not want Andrew anywhere near his daughter. He finds a way to put Andrew in prison for several years by using his "abilities." Simon, the father, belongs to a secret group called "The Order of the Wise Serpent."
Andrew and Fiona are devastated when they realize they will be apart for years. Does Fiona have "special gifts" that will allow her to visit him in prison through her psychic powers? What will Andrew do when he discovers that he also has psychic powers by visiting Professor Dowling?
Once again Mr. Davis has written a powerful book. The characters are so rich in the determination to be together that they are willing to do anything to be forever soulmates.
The book takes us on a journey of survival, strength, and a love so deep that nothing or no one will be able to come between Fiona and Andrew. I loved the way Mr. Davis writes a story of true love and explores the subject of psychic ability In a way that you find yourself mesmerized by a great romantic suspense. At times during the story , I felt like I was reading a story of two people so deeply in love that their sacrifice to always be together took me back to the the story of Romeo and Juliet. Fiona and Andrew have that kind of love that is timeless and breathtaking to read.
I loved the book and knew I would remember this story forever as it touched me as the characters experienced unconditional love and a desire to always stand together. If you are looking for a book with romance, suspense, characters that you fall in love bring tears to your eyes cry and an author who writes with such compassion and an exceptional way to make the story flow with flawlessness, then Simpatico should be your next book to read.
Simpatico is a thrilling romance, a little bit of a cross between YA and New Adult fiction. I liked it for many reasons but the first is the plot itself.
Fiona and Andrew, a young couple who’s madly in love, vow to stay by each other’s side but their emotional promise is challenged when Fiona’s powerful father gets involved. It’s not just your classic story about a rich girl and a poor guy, it’s a tale involving psychic abilities, the occult, secret societies, and so much more!
Simpatico is for the bold. Don’t pick this up if you don’t have the imagination to combine a loving romance with heart-pounding suspense. I loved every concept and corner of this book, it showed me a side of romance I never thought I’d see. As someone who isn’t very fond of romance, I was very impressed.
I’ll admit I was a bit surprised to see psychic powers here, the description kind of left out that bit but it didn’t work against it. I’d say I was pleasantly surprised as that aspect only added to the thrill of the book. Fiona isn’t a master at her powers but they do come in handy during her journey of love—LOL—she uses them to visit Andrew when he gets imprisoned by her father—of course. But there is a sense of growth from her character that we see along the way.
Fiona is a sweetheart that I found myself rooting for. She’s a typical romantic lead, encompassing that youthful innocence we see so often. But there are points in the book where her strength comes through and you get to sit back as a reader and think, how far am I willing to go to be with the one I love?
I loved being able to place myself in Fiona’s shoes like that. I think her character played on many things young girls face when dating. We’ve all heard of Romeo and Juliet, while this may be a very thrilling and suspenseful play on that concept, it’s got massive amounts of originality and flare that makes this book an easy page-turner.
If you’re looking to try something a little edgier than your average romance then I would highly recommend grabbing a copy of SIMPATICO. It will not disappoint you. Anyone who likes magic, sorcery, psychic abilities, and even a little suspense will be greatly pleased with the unique style of this author and genuine story he has to tell.
‘Simpatico’ by Dermot Davis is described as a Suspense Romance and definitely lives up to both genres. Davis introduces us to Andrew and Fiona, a star-crossed couple of youngsters who make a pact to remain together always. A fairly frequent occurrence amongst young people, you might think. But then the genius of the author comes into play. Fiona has powers. Her father is an occult sciences dabbler, an important figure in a magick sect, someone who may have used his own abilities to create his daughters when she was born. Now, as Fiona discovers her talents and brings them to bear on her relationship with Andrew, she incurs her father’s wrath. This is only the beginning of a well-crafted suspense thriller which sees the character of Andrew finding that going up against his girlfriend’s father’s wishes has dire consequences.
The pace was superb throughout, carrying the reader forward from one twist to the next effortlessly. The principal characters were also well defined and perfectly credible. I especially liked the secondary character of Professor Gus Dowling and, as Davis announces at the back of the book that more will be coming in this series, hope he’s given more protagonism in future outings.
The tale itself is interesting in the clever way the author mixes a typical boy-meets-girl romance with heavy supernatural overtones that add to the intensity of the narrative whilst not dominating the story, allowing the emotional ups and downs the couple endure to be contemplated by the reader in its own merit. A novel that will appeal to readers of thrillers as well as romance. Recommended.
Fiona and Andrew are a young couple in love. However their happiness is marred by Fiona's father, Simon, who is a member of an occult group called The Order of The Snake. There's a lot of mystery surrounding Simon and the aims and purposes of this group, which is intriguing. It would have been interesting to find out more about Simon's past. Fiona is a moonchild with special powers. Simon is over protective and suspicious of anyone who tries to get too close to his daughter. Through Simon's actions, Andrew is imprisoned and desperate to escape back to Fiona. The prison scenes are very descriptive and the author conveys well the utter despair and hopelessness felt by Andrew. There are some very interesting secondary characters. I would liked to have discovered more about Gus Dowling, a Professor of Parapsychology, who helps Andrew and shows him proof of his cognitive powers. The story of Gus' wife and the mystery of what happened to her is an intriguing one. Another interesting character is Henry, Andrew's cell mate. What is his past and how did he end up in jail? There's plenty of suspense as Fiona and Andrew go on the run. As they are both likeable characters, I cared about what happened to them, wanting them to have a happy ending. The story ends on a positive and optimistic note. This is a story about the strength of a bond between two people. An enjoyable and uplifting read.
Simpatico by Dermot Davis follows young lovers Fiona and Andrew as they face obstacles most adults would have a difficult time getting through. Fiona is a new-age girl from money, and while Andrew doesn't have much money and no relationship with his father, he has a good heart. The first obstacle the two face is Fiona's father, who is in a secret society. Through his scheming and dark magic, Andrew is involved in a car accident that lands him in jail for manslaughter. Andrew escapes to meet up with Fiona, only to part ways again when Fiona's father turns in Andrew. I don't want to include spoilers, so I will leave the conclusion of the plot out of my review.
Fiona and Andrew's relationship felt real, and it was obvious that they loved each other, but I would have liked to see their relationship grow from the very beginning. Perhaps the author can do a prequel book or short story so we can follow the two in their earliest days of falling in love. That would be highly enjoyable. I also enjoyed the secondary characters and felt they added much depth to the book. I particularly liked the hot-air balloon ride scene when the balloon skimmed the water.
Simpatico is a tale of young love against the odds and will hold your attention throughout. While Fiona and Andrew face obstacles, their love remains strong, and the reader will enjoy taking the ride with them.
At its heart, Simpatico is a romance with a strong paranormal twist and an original plot. The novel begins as a romance between two young soul-mates, Andrew and Fiona, who are from different worlds. While 18-year-old Fiona is accustomed to living in a mansion with maids and gardeners, we learn that her father, Simon is a controlling man who keeps her isolated, making her rely on imaginary friends. In contrast, Andrew leads an ordinary life with his mother, who works double shifts to sustain them and pay for his university education.
Disapproving of Andrew, Simon soon reveals his dark side by drawing on the occult and performing a ritual to remove him from Fiona’s life. The results of his interference are shocking and rapidly spiral out of control. The novel quickly takes on the characteristics of a thriller with its pace, revelations and deeper plot threads. I especially enjoyed the secondary characters of Simon and Professor Dowling. Simon’s shady past as a member of the Order of the Wise Serpents, his selfish intentions towards Fiona’s psychic abilities and his lack of conscience make him a fascinating character.
If you enjoy a blend of romance and suspense, and the notion that love can conquer all, you’re sure to be entertained by Simpatico.
SIMPATICO is a suspense-driven contemporary love story that takes you into the world of the occult, new age spirituality, and into the other powers of the universe we have yet to understand. It features a story-line that really pulled me in and held me captive.
A powerful, controlling father tries to dictate the romantic fate of Fiona and Andrew. He is involved in a secret occult, leader of The Order of The Snake, and will do dark things to keep his daughter and Andrew apart. Fiona, a Moonchild, true to her love, uses her newfound psychic abilities to protect Andrew and their relationship. Through trials and tribulations, can love triumph against the odds?
Dermot Davis has written a pure and compelling story here. A vivid cast of characters—Fiona and Andrew, Fiona's father Simon, Andrew's cell mate Henry, Professor Gus Dowling, and many others—come alive and leap out of the pages at you. The development of these characters is pulled off incredibly well, not only by description, but also by their actions; what they say and do.
This is the second Dermot Davis book I've read and I'm becoming a big fan. This is one of the better novels I have read in the YA romance genre.
*I received this book in exchange for an honest review.*
The first few chapters, I didn´t really understand it since I don´t usually read this type of books. But as I continued reading, I began to like Andrew and Fiona relationship, it is definitely not your usual YA love story, but the romance is definitely there and it´s pretty cool.
To be honest, it took me a while to finish this book, because some parts of it weren´t interesting to me, but the book is incredibly great written, and by the last chapters I just wanted to finish it to know what happened to both of them.
I really recommend this book to everyone who enjoys romance fictional books, I don´t want to spoil the story too much but it´s really interesting to watch a couple of teenagers have adult problems that are actually real and could end their lives. When they run together, you think they´ll just be happy and stuff, but that´s when the good part of the book starts.
Set in modern day Southern California, Simpatico is a light romance, interrupted by the pull of the occult and the push of a narrator anxious to get on with the story. Eighteen-year-old Fiona is a whimsical daughter, with an over-bearing father, and she just wants to run away with twenty-two-old Andrew, the love of her sheltered life. Andrew seems torn between hanging out with his college buddies and disappearing with his new infatuation, and the reader has to defer to the author to tell them why. Simon, the father who exposed her to world of the occult, including “astral traveling” and “the order of the wise serpent”, is lurking around every corner, prodding her in the right direction, protecting her from threats unknown. Andrew is equally resilient, keeping one step ahead of daddy, gangs, and the law, as he leaps from scene to scene, escaping harm in the nick of time. Everything gets neatly wrapped in the end and I was happy for Fiona, as the author made sure to tell me.
Fiona’s dad will stop at nothing in his way to end the love relations between Fiona and Andrew. The couple even run away so as not to be found by him, but that doesn’t stop Simon―Fiona’s dad. Their love is bound by a promise they made to each other. Simon cares nothing about their love for each other. He uses his power, wealth and network with high society, against them. Concocted from the imagination of award-winning author, Dermot Davis, this love story is one of unyielding burden that leads to a spellbinding climax. Simpatico is jam-packed with astonishment, and surprising bends and kinks in the plot as you read along. I won’t give away any spoilers, but I will say if you are into romance than definitely read this one.
Simpatico is an excellent work in the YA/NA genre. And that’s saying something considering how little I usually enjoy these types of stories. However, considering the level of tension and originality I really feel confident in recommending it. There’s action, and suspense, supernatural occult and covens and all of it will push Andrew and Fiona to their limits.
What I find especially impressive though is the structure. The characters are all the heroes of their own stories with individual motivations, their voices are unique, and there’s a clear goal/stakes/obstacles within the story. This translates into a fast pace and easy to understand adventure that you can invest in with faith that it will pay off in the end. Really great stuff, and way better than most indie novels I’ve read.
A beautiful love story, like a modern day Romeo and Juliet, pure and unspoilt; despite their differences, Fiona and Andrew just love each other and plan to run away. He may not be into new age in the same way as she is, but he respects her and keeps an open mind. Dermot Davis has a gift for prose and from the first page, when he simply sets the scene by describing the surroundings with wonderful language I felt at home in this novel. Fiona's father interferes and tragedy befalls the couple. But young love will always find a way. The story reminded me so much of what it is young and unbreakable in spirit, it really resonated with me. This is a heartfelt romance with a lot of action and well chosen characters, even the supporting ones, such as Henry. Great stuff.
I think the title gives the reader a clue as to the type of book this is. I’ve never heard the term, Romantic Suspense, but it describes the tone of this fabulous book. In addition to the love story between Fiona and Andrew, there is quite a lot of conflict.
Unfortunately for this couple, Fiona’s father does not like Andrew. That might not be a problem for most, but Fiona’s father is very powerful and wealthy. Now throw in another complication, her father is connected to a secret society. This couple has an uphill battle to stay together.
This book would be enjoyed by men and women, and also by those who don’t normally read Romance novels. Great read!
This was the first book I have read by this author. It was an interesting twist on a tension filled romance. Andrew, smart young man from a single parent home, loves the beautiful and unusual Fiona. Like many of his age he is unaware and uninterested in the machinations of the political and power brokers of the world. Fiona, daughter to a wealthy and powerful man, has unusual physic gifts. Where Andrew and Fiona just want to be with each other forever, her father Simon doesn’t approve. Between his secret society and mystical spells, he intervenes. The danger for Andrew ramps up to a fever pitch and due to the two young people’s devotion, both can lose their lives. I recommend this book
Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review. Exhaustingly Great Read with A Surprising End I thought at first that I'd read all the good books that involved hopeless, romantic, don't-know-what-love-is young love teenagers, but this one takes the cake. The book was well-written and sympathetic to young readers and their oblivious nature at times. As as adult reading it, I wanted to choke them both - of course, I am a parent, and I know I'd have made some of the decisions they'd made once upon a time...but Dermot writes an honest book, full of love and beliefs that it conquers all. For Fiona and Andrew, it sort of does...
From the cover and book description, I wouldn't have thought this book would have some supernatural elements. It was definitely a surprise but a good one! It really added to the suspenseful plot and it was interesting to see how Fiona dealt with her ability. This was for sure my type of book. It contained a little bit of everything. Of course there is a love story. Fiona falls for the ordinary guy Andrew and her father does not approve so all hell breaks lose.
I'm not giving away anything in the story so you will have to find out for yourself what happens to this young couple as they go through the obstacles that will challenge their relationship.
Merriam-Webster defines simpatico as "being on the same wavelength." After reading this book there is no other way to describe the two lovers in the story. Fiona is determined to be with Andrew from the beginning and despite many obstacles, her focus never wavers. There is a pureness to Davis' writing style that made it easy to sympathize and root for the main characters. The inclusion of psychic powers and the mystery surrounding them added extra interest to the story line. A fast-paced page-turner, I highly recommend Simpatico to anyone looking for "not-your-typical-romance."
Simpatico begins with a standard premise: a boy from the wrong side of the tracks falls for a wealthy, sheltered girl with an overprotective father. The twist here is that the girl was born with psychic gifts, and the father is a member of an ancient cult with far-reaching connections. Throw in a parapsychology university professor with a mystery of his own to solve, and you have an interesting story indeed. Simpatico is a sweet, suspenseful love story, even without the psychic elements. I appreciate that it's a "clean" YA read, meaning no sexual content.
Simpatico is a lovely YA love story with a little supernatural twist to it. Although this isn’t usually my sort of book, I really enjoyed following Andrew and Fiona as they fought to be together. Their love is really innocent and sweet and reminded me of my first love! It is well written and easy to read. I really recommend it to all YA readers who want a good love story, with a touch of suspense and magic.
A great love story between Fiona and Andrew, set in an incredibly original and riveting context. Fiona’s father is a rich and powerful man linked to a secret society who does his utmost to split them up. This is a perfect fusion of romance and suspense, expertly handled and, what’s more, written in a smooth and fluent style. A rare talent.
This book was very good! I enjoyed it very much. I love books with hidden abilities and magic. I was caught up in the story line and I wanted Andrea and Fiona to be together and not split apart. I can't wait for more from this series. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Fiona and Andrew (the lead characters) had depth and were believable, and were accompanied with a strong supporting cast (Cell block mate Henry stole the show here). But what I really enjoyed was the tone, simultaneously meeting the high expectations of romance and suspense readers is a tightrope walker's job and Mr. Davis nailed it.
Description Fiona was brought up in a mansion. She still lives with her father, Simon, who is a powerful member of a secret society that does black magic rituals. Simon has forbidden Fiona from seeing Andrew, a working class kid. He is over-protective of his daughter because Fiona is a Moonchild; she was born with special gifts. It's these psychic gifts that he covets for himself. When Andrew and Fiona make a vow never to be torn apart, Simon does whatever he can to break them up. He will do black magic rituals if that's what it takes. Forced to go on the run, the young lovers soon find themselves battling against forces they don't understand. Balanced precipitously between danger and desire, they hold on to each other. But their path does not run smooth. Not by a long shot...Intensely romantic and suspenseful, Simpatico captures the struggle between defying the dictates of what others want for us and following the innate urgings of our own hearts and souls. This is a modern love story that takes no prisoners; a love story where relentless tension builds to a riveting crescendo. Always veering between romance and suspense it is a story that will appeal to readers of thrillers as those who enjoy a straight, clean romance. Although it has elements of the supernatural, it is not a typical paranormal romance. Anyone who has ever been in love will empathize with Andrew and Fiona as, against all odds, they do everything in their power never be torn apart.
My Review
This modern love story is fun and a great read. Simpatico has romance, a little bit of magic, and a moonchild? Yes, and it all ads up to a great read.
Don’t want to include any spoilers, but I was sitting on the edge of my seat towards the end asking yes, no?
I was provided this book free of charge in exchange for my honest opinion.
