(Short Story)

Keith is just like you. He has concerns and problems in his everyday life about himself, his family, and life in general. He has made mistakes, too. But when he takes the time to slow it all down, he realizes things aren't so bad. While visiting the eye doctor he is blessed with the opportunity to view the world in a different light - with a clearer vision of what has always been right under his nose. In the process he also learns that everyone has their own point-of-view in any given situation.

Brad Carl

Growing up in the Midwest, Brad Carl was influenced at an early age by the Hardy Boys book series written under the collective pseudonym, Franklin W. Dixon. Reading and writing would be a pastime of his for many years. Eventually, other aspects of his young adult life would begin to take precedent.

He still found time to read an occasional book from an author he enjoyed such as David Baldacci, James Patterson, or Clive Cussler. Finally, a few years ago, the creative bug bit Brad hard and he began to write again. Many of the manuscripts are still on a shelf or being worked on, including some short stories, a web series, and a sitcom pilot.

While not necessarily a lover of words – especially not big ones – Brad has always been fond of telling a story. The main inspiration for his fiction debut, Grey Areas, was the new wave of popular cable television series like Dexter, Breaking Bad, and Sons of Anarchy.

What can one expect from Brad Carl’s books? You’ll find a quick pace that provides just enough detail to allow the reader to paint their own picture. You’ll also be entertained by expressive dialogue that brings the characters to life, helping the story breathe with believability.

A life-long lover of music and pop culture, Brad also plans to release a pair of books about classic pop and rock hit music. You can expect to see these books later this year.

Brad Carl is a former radio personality who still earns part of his living by producing voiceovers. He is also a successful businessman in the textile and packaging industry. He currently resides in Kansas City, MO.

Fun little story, relatable, good dialogue, interesting characters. However, given the large amount of back-story of the main character and how little the author told of the homeless veteran who probably had quite a back-story himself, the "perspective" gained seemed incomplete. I would have loved to see "the rest of the story", as the ending is a bit too abrupt for my taste. Nevertheless, well-written otherwise.

This short story is a swift read. It's only twelve pages long. However, the moral of the story is just act with kindness. Don't try to put on a production to show you're doing well. Just do good.

This book is suitable is you are looking for:
- Something to spend 10 minutes on
- A good chuckle/laugh

One line summary: Pointless but hilarious!

I read this book thinking I could extract some life lessons (based on the title) but was disappointed that this book is almost pointless. Almost, because I sure had a good chuckle or two (or three!) while reading this extremely short story. I would definitely read more from this author if he writes other genres (currently, his works focus in psychology thriller, which is not my cup of tea). Kudos on the jokes!

Short but fun. As we grow older things change, like Keith's eyesight. What I hope never changes is a good sense of humor. The author adds some fun to this quick read and the gist of the short story is one I know I have joked about and I'm sure many others have too.
