It started with pure animal attraction and snowballed into so much more.
Isaiah Shifters have always been kind of… an obsession for me, I guess you could say. In the least creepy way that can be meant. I was that kid who watched all the shifter specials on the TV. After befriending the twins in high school I kind of thought that the obsession had turned into more of an appreciation. I was proven completely wrong the first time I laid eyes on Lucas. Dragon shifters were rare even among the wider shifter population so, even discounting the fact that he was hot like burning, it was like everything about him was made to catch and keep my attention. A one-night stand that turned into more was only the beginning.
Lucas Isaiah was a complication I never intended on. He was intriguing and more than a little tempting but it was never supposed to go anywhere past that first one-night stand. I spent so long keeping my distance from other people, even others of my own kind, that I didn’t know how to handle someone so determined to get through my guard. I let him in, in spite of my better judgment, and it all very quickly spiralled out of control. My best intentions weren’t enough to stop the chaos but somehow, he was the eye of the storm and when it settled it seemed like maybe I’d have my happy ending.
Taming a Dragon is a standalone MM story, with steamy scenes, Mpreg and a HEA ending!
I have enjoyed the other stories that I have read by these two authors so it was easy to jump into another dragon shifter and human romance. In this world the Emergence occurred when shifters revealed themselves. It was a rocky start with most shifters just wanting to blend in like they'd done for thousands of years, while others created close-knit communities and stuck to the old ways. Humans struggled with what used to be fantasy and lore, although as time went on a subtle segregation and discrimination happened amongst the wealthy leaving the lower middle classes and poor to deal with the paranormals.
Isaiah has always been fascinated with shifters ever since the Emergence and when his social status was reduced to his parents divorce, he went to a public high school where he befriended a set of feline twins. Actually, he helped them out when they were being picked on by some bigger wolves, and that created a friendship for life. Now an adult, Isaiah continues to see this gorgeous man at different places and they share some awkward staring, and Isaiah finds out he's a dragon shifter, which the twins aren't too impressed with. Regardless, Isaiah gets up his courage to introduce himself to Lucas and they begin to date.
Isaiah has no clue that Lucas can even get pregnant until it happens. Lucas is sure that Isaiah will leave but Isaiah wants their baby and Lucas. It was definitely interesting to watch the months pass and see these two men acclimate to one another and their new life. I was sad that the authors didn't explain any of the whys and how's of the pregnancy and the birth although it was sweet to see Isaiah and Lucas have a little girl.
There are definitely things I liked about this story, but more things that I didn't care for. The editing is poorly done with the tenses constantly changing. I truly believe there was a lot more that could have gone into this story and the development of the characters. I barely got a feel for Lucas at all, and there was no mention of his family, how he grew up, etc. The whole story seemed very rushed to me and definitely detracted from my overall enjoyment.
I usually like the stories by this author(s) but this one was a complete waste of time. The story feels like it was written by a bored teenager as a book summary going down a bullet point list of facts and events that happen, without any flow, immersion or emotion. The characters were boring and flat, the side characters came across as unlikable and annoying. There were also some extremely awkward tense changes.
This was a book of 5 short stories. Really they weren't all that great. They weren't terrible but there was little story development. The characters didn't have much of a chance to grow. Still it was an okay read.
This has multiple Dragon shifter stories. They are quick reads. Some of them seem more like the alpha making the omega stay with them until biology makes them crave the alpha. Not my preference.
Quite a good amount of short sweet stories. But make sure you don't have them already. Cause this are the same stories that are published in like 5 more books
This was not up to the author's usual great storytelling. There was no chemistry or character development. The relationship seemed tentative and shaky all the way through. Basically the story just recounted events in the relationship in a telling-not-showing way. The great thing though is that the book includes the author's other work A Brace of Sapphires which is really good. I would say that the two for one is worth the price and definitely worth a read on KU.
I like this book it was not as good as the other books by this author
I liked reading this book it was okay. I liked the relationship between Isaiah and Lucas. I like they had their happy ending I also liked the twists and turns in this book. I will recommend this book to everybody I know and to all my friends too.
Both of the stories were sweet, :) the characters grew together and the bond they formed was stressed at times but you could tell that it was through love that they worked out. I would recommend this book for a quick read.
