Serial Killers: The Top 12 Most Evil Serial Killers to Ever Live and the True Stories of Their Crimes

Rate this book
For hundreds of years we have had both a disgust with and a fascination for serial killers. There is something about the way their minds work that captivates our own minds, and causes us to want to know more about them.

Why do they do the things that they do? What causes them to turn into the serial killers that we come to fear? Why do they choose to prey upon society as they do, and what causes them to choose the victims that they choose?

There is so much to study and so much to learn when it comes to these grotesque figures and the murders they committed. From the internal workings of their minds to what set them off, it is hard to limit the study of serial killers to just one topic.

In this book, we are going to study the worst of the worst. Ranging from the real killings of Edmund Kemper and Ted Bundy to the fictional but just as disturbing acts of Hannibal Lector, this book is going to give you a glimpse into the mind of serial killers as a whole.

Study the killings of 12 major serial killers in history
Learn why serial killers do what they do
Discover the common thread that ties all serial killers together

not very factual

there are any number of incorrect statements in this book. Edmund kemper did not have a 'basically happy' childhood. Ted Bundy did not always have his arm in a sling. David berkowitz was not a 'basically normal guy'. these are just a few examples. the writing style was amateurish at best. i was, needless to say, frustrated with this book basically all the way through.

It felt like I was reading the first draft of a novel. There were some noticeable grammar mistakes as well as I want to say factual errors as well about, at least, one of the killers. Also, it was kind of ridiculous to include a fictional serial killer.

Needs Editing Work But Decent Reading

Like others, I "enjoy" reading true crime stories. I'm amazed at how evil people can be though I shouldn't be.

This book focuses on eleven serial killers. The author includes the fictitious Hannibal Lecture which is odd. Why stop with Hannibal? There are other fictitious killers. The inclusion of Lecture was unnecessary. It took away from the seriousness of the book. Serial killers kill real people and destroy real families.

The accounts are quick. I did appreciate that. I read this book in less than an hour. The information included the killers past such as early life, parents, marriages, etc. The crimes are then discussed which includes how the killers are caught and what sentence they received.

My main problem (besides the fictional killer in the book) is the editing. For example, the author writes of the infamous BTK killer (Dennis Rader). The author has him as "BYK." It's just a key mistake but one easy to catch with a good editing.

Most evil and also most famous

All of the serial killers featured in this book are as familiar as the folks at a family reunion. The exception, of course, is Hannibal Lecter. The author speaks of getting into the head of Hannibal Lecter, which is, of course, impossible as the character was created in the head of another person.

It is more a recounting of the lives and crimes of the famous murderers. While true crime fans are interested in reading about serial killers, it is not a complete waste of time. Be prepared for lots of errors, about 50 in all, such as someone learning to "read and right." Such are the limitations of SpellCheck.

Excellent Reading

Loved reading this book. Its interesting, but not gruesome. I recognized some names, like the Wests. It leaves you amazed at how some people act normal, but live a split personality life! Robert the author kept each serial killers story short but interesting.

Just ok

I feel like a lot of it was copied and pasted from other books. Lots of spelling errors as well.... blatant ones. Definitely read better!
