Enjoyable read

A well written story set in Roman Britain. Well researched, has all the elements of a good tale; betrayal, love and treachery! very readable, romped through it quickly. It definitely calls for a sequel.

The copy I read is a different publisher and different cover but the author and title is the same so I guess it is the same book. Brothers in a good read. It is easy to follow unlike many historical fiction novels that get so bogged down in the scenery and history that you have to sift through to find the story. A page turner, full of intrigue and deviousness. I kept wanted to know what they'll do next.

This is an epic novel taking place in Briton around 102 AD when Roman colonists were living alongside the Britons. Most historical fiction of the type focuses on war and politics. This book is unique in that it gets personal and really dives into what life was like for people at this time.

It is more than just a love story but the love story is layered and fascinating. Between a slave and the daughter of a wealthy Roman senator who rubbed someone the wrong way and got sent to Briton.

Well worth reading. Despite being over 500 pages the end leaves you begging for more.

An epic worthy of a TV mini series, Brothers bleeds history. Its story is timeless, set in a time so rarely explored outside of Christian literature (100ish AD) that everything seems like a made up world, but it isn't. The edition I read is from a different publisher but its the same author so I assume its the same book.

Excellent entry in the historical fiction genre, touching on an under explored time period, the first century AD. Engaging and entertaining throughout.
