Nearly useless. For the "redstone" part of the title, this "book" covers redstone torches and repeaters. That's it! No comparators, observers, examples of mechanisms and circuits - nothing. For the "transportation" part it explains how mine cart works, on a basic level. I think I see a theme in these kind of books - make a small pamphlet with some fluff information, come up with the most generic title you can get to lure in people who buy these books for a school library and sell-sell-sell. Oh and don't forget to make it a series with a title like "21 century skills innovation library". What a total waste of paper and unethical business.
Literally almost all of the book isn't relevant to anyone who has heard of the game for more than 5 days. This book teaches almost nothing about redstone and to anyone who has ever found redstone or watched a video of Minecraft that has any redstone in it they would have more knowledge than this book has.
