“Cold Call” by Michael Donovan is one crazy crime story. Eddie Flynn, PI narrates the story of getting pulled into a murder investigation when the victim inadvertently calls his cell phone whilst being murdered. He doesn’t know the victim, but he does know the victim’s sister. Somehow the murder appears to be related to a serial killer, The Diceman, whom Flynn tried to capture 7 years prior.
Flynn is hired by the family to investigate the murder. There’s one red herring after another, plot twists and cliff hangers. Loved it!
I listened to the audio, narrated by Simon Blood DeVay. His voice was perfect.

Book 3
We know Eddie by now but there is still background to be filled in
This book does some of that
The premise is interesting - serial killer or copycat - the writing has settled into a style and it feels less forced than books 1&2 - another enjoyable quick read
I would make sure to read in order as this does have a bit of a spoiler re book 2

Getting better book by book
This series keeps getting better with every book, as the characters get more fleshed out and the story lines and back stories go deeper. I'm looking forward to the next book.

This is the best Eddie Flynn story yet.
Eddie becomes involved in a murder case when the victim calls his phone shortly before her death, leaving a mysterious voicemail. The case has similarities to a serial killer case that resulted in Eddie's retirement from the Met, but he doesn't believe it's the same guy.
High suspense, lots of surprises, and some needed Eddie Flynn history. Kept me up past 4 am at the end. The only thing I thought was problematic was the afterword. It's not that it was totally unbelievable, but it was really improbable. And usually Eddie is more pragmatic than that.
